This place is unbelievable. I will not be purchasing anything from Turn-Out again. I ordered a basic class A shirt and pant. Just one of each. They said it'll be ready in one week. I call and the young man answering the phone rudely asked if I received a call stating it was ready. I replied no and he said they will call me. Several days later I called again and asked for a status. They said not ready. After over two weeks I drive there and the young lady said they are working on it right now. So you guys forgot about my order. This was the second time they have done this. Last year it took over 6 weeks to get a class b shirt. Plus the young workers on the floor are immature and seem only interested in flirting with each other. I'm done with this place. I've spent thousands of dollars here but I'll be taking my business to Some's or Harris. It's a longer drive for me but I can't with this place anymore. read more

So, as many others have mentioned, this company cannot get out of its own way. Ordered a shirt online 6 weeks ago that their system said was in stock. I have now made 3 phone calls and one customer service email (got no reply) and I still cannot get an answer as to whether I will get the shirt. I rarely write reviews, as I rarely get service so good or so bad that its worth my time to go online and comment about it. For places like this, word of mouth is big and I generally stick to that. But I am making an exception here after being completely screwed over for the last time and being at my wits end. Really, I'm more upset that my guys are getting screwed, not me. If you are looking for a place to stop in and get a pair of 5.11s or some such off the rack item, TurnOut is fine (little falls, don't ever bother with JC, they are a whole other animal and such a disaster they can't even get the in stock stuff right). I have been on the job 21 years, dealing with turnout for about 15. Got so fed up with the Jersey City location, I started going to Little Falls a while back (maybe 6-7yrs ago) because I heard they were "a little better." In all that time, through 2 promotions and a bunch of changes to duty, dress, and ceremonial uniforms, I have NEVER had an order handled without delays and mistakes. Every time, without fail, something was delayed and had to be fixed. In one case, I had to bring a dress jacket back FOUR TIMES because they couldn't get it right. Not only did they not make any attempt to make things right (not even a store credit for all that hastle and wasted time for the multiple extra trips), they had the nerve to try to charge me for fixing the mistakes. I said nothing, and I didn't take to the internet - until now. I was trying to get a gift for my squad - very simple embroidery on a few jackets right off their own racks. I went to little falls after JC didnt have the logo I needed (of course, why would JC have a common logo used by a JC agency?) but after waiting 20 minutes (you can expect long waits for even the simplest thing any time you go to either of these locations) I was assured that Little Falls did in fact have it. I went to little falls in person, purchased the jackets, paid for everything after being assured that they had the logo (which I physically showed to the sales staff) and could "DEFINITELY" have the work done within 2 weeks (before Christmas, as I made it clear these were a gift and time was of the essence). I was told that if there were any issues at all I would be contacted immediately, but the job should be done in about a week, 2 max. I called after 2 weeks and after getting the run around for 15mins over the phone, was told "it should be done some time this week." Now, being concerned about the time line, I made it clear that I was assured delivery by a certain date and reminded them this was a gift I didn't want "some time this week" to turn into some time next week - I was put on hold (again) and told "your order is next on the rack to be embroidered." That was a Monday; I called to follow up again on Thurs (hoping to pick up today, as they were to be given FRIDAY!) and after getting the run around again was told, "Sorry, we don't have that logo" - no work has been started let alone done, no chance anything can be done by tomorrow, we'll refund your money if you want. Thats it, as if that makes anything better - Im left with no gift for my guys the day before I was to deliver, and can't even get my money back for 3-5 business days. The worst part about this isn't that someone made a mistake (I've come to expect that, which is why I give Barney style instructions and hound them with follow up calls, which obviously made no difference); its not even the astronomical level of incompetence and even dishonesty; the worst part is that nobody ever takes accountability. "I didn't do it, its not MY fault" is all you will ever get from anyone here, and thats why it will never change. And that is why I will never go back and anyone on the job should never trust these clowns with your hard earned money or your sacred uniforms. TLDR: If you go here, you need to accept that deadlines will not be met, you need to expect that mistakes will be made every time (inspect your items when you pick them up), and never count on them in a pinch. read more

This probably isn't news to anybody but this place will mess up your uniforms over and over again. It's almost comical. If your department uses this place, I guess you don't have a choice but to come here but just be prepared to to order uniforms long in advance of when you need them because they will need to be redone several times before they get it right. There is one kid who works in the Little falls location who knows what he is doing and he honestly should run the whole place. I'll update this review with his name because he deserves the credit. But other than him everybody at either location is just lost in the sauce. Update: my winter station shirts came in (1 month too late because they had to be redone because they gave me the wrong style shirt) and it is skin tight. It's two sizes too small. I wish I could say I'm surprised. It's almost like they are trying to lose business. Maybe I'll get them before I retire in 20 years. read more

Will not be using TurnOut for any more business or apparel items. I paid a lot of money for a seemingly easy sweatshirt, with a simple name embroider and print on the back, only to have it delayed for almost 2 weeks. Then when I finally got a call saying the sweatshirt was done, I show up to the store and they forgot to print on the back of the sweatshirt. So I waste time out of my day to pick up my "completed" Sweatshirt only to have it not be finished. I come back 3 days later, assured it would be finished by then, only to be told again it was not finished. This place keeps wasting my time and is run by a bunch of amateurs. read more

Thus place truly does suck. After receiving a badge wallet as s gift, I went to try an exchange it because of the wrong size badge. Well who ever was working on April 6 @ 5:20 was a real jerk. All he kept saying was that it was store policy and that he can't help me. The wallet was never used and still in the plastic. What a freakin disgrace. As a MOS for 29 years I have spent thousands of $ at this place and this is how they treat their loyal customers. Never again with this place. What was the big freakin deal. The turnaround time is ridiculous for anything you order. 2-3 weeks (if you're lucky) for anything with a nametape. How does a business who mainly deals with embroidery not have a faster system? I ordered uniforms from a different business (Harris in Hackensack and got everything I needed in less than 2 weeks. As I type this, I'm still waiting on an order. I've come here a few times because it's close to home, but at this point, I'd rather drive further to get better service. read more

Well, I placed an order online on 11/4/18, on 12/12/18 I sent them an email as the order haven't arrived, no one replied, today is 12-14-18, it has been over month I haven't received an update or anything, I called their phone number listed, someone answer the phone and I provided my order number, she person that answer the phone said ''let me transfer you other department'', the phone rang, and rang, and rang... and left a message... I placed an order for a police dress uniform and some patches on 12/13/2019. Today is 03/23/20. I have called numerous times and it really seems like they are going to give me some answers but what always ends up happening instead is i get transferred to a voicemail that tells me they will call me when my uniforms are ready. That is of course after waiting 20 minutes to speak to someone. For the love of god, someone open up a better store and put this place out of business!!!!!!!!!! read more

Horrible service. Placed an order for a shirt and jacket and a month later it turns out they ordered the completely wrong jacket. Reordered the correct one and now 3 months later, still no jacket. How can it take 3 months to "special order" a jacket in a size they should have had in stock?? I suppose I will have it for the summer. read more

I called in this morning 03/25/17 at 10:30 a.m. because I live distance from your store to ask if you had firefighting structual boots in stock. The woman who answered the phone had some sort of attitude problem like i was bothering her,she abrubtly put me on hold to find out if there were any in stock and then gets back on phone and says yes they are in stock,so I asked her if she knew if there were 13's in stock before I drove a long distance, so she's says to me real arrogant, "Is there anything else you need before I make another trip to find this information out." I think as a first responder maybe someday saving her life that she could be alittle more courteous to her customers on the phone matter fact she might need to change her profession!! I dont think I will ever spend my money here. I have been in the fire service for 26 years and certainly do not need that kind of ignorance when purchasing equipment from your store.. read more

I walked in to this location to look for a streamlight brand flashlight. I walked in and went directly to the flash light sections of the counter at the store. One individual behind the counter did not even acknowledge my presence. A second individual walks behind the counter and I ask for help, and they said they were helping someone. I proceeded to wait until the second person was done, seeing as the first individual would not be bothered by me. I walked around the store (which isn't large enough to get lost in, to put in prospective) and when I noticed the man was done helping his guest I made my way back to the flashlight area. The man walked right past me and stood by the door. As I walked over another customer walked in. I asked for help again and the man said he was now helping someone else. Needless to say I left and was never provided service. I have refrained from going to this location. I drive into Jersey City now, since there are few places for Firefighters to shop in this area. read more
