I have a medically detailed issue that requires shoe heel adjustments to be exact. I asked the gentleman to verify the heel height and I got an eye roll so extreme you'd think I asked him something terrible. He answered me gruffly with the language barrier that likely made it worse. I wasn't asking for a refund. I was asking him to check the measurement. I will not patronize this business again. Advice to this shoe repair shop: Be nice to customers and you'll build loyalty, which means repeat business. People remember how you make them feel.

This business personifies why Yelp is so important. Looking at Accent On Leather's website you…read morewould expect a professional, well-run business that does quality work and charges fair prices. And since there really aren't many business who specialize in this, I had high hopes. Granted, the work he did for me was fairly reasonable but their quality and reliability are sketchy at best. I brought a fairly expensive shearling coat to have some alterations performed. Specifically, I needed the buttons moved & sleeves shortened. I was immediately taken back because the proprietor wreaked of cigarettes. Not sure about others but I really cannot stand my clothing or just about anything else smelling of smoke. He was also, less than friendly, bordering on curt. He matter of factly measured me and the coat and informed me that he was really busy and told me it would take about 3 weeks. Can't fault a guy for being busy so I agreed and left. Three weeks later I called and inquired about my coat and was told that it was ready. Said I would be down to pick it up shortly and when I arrived, the store had closed early. Okay, shit happens. Trip number 3 the next day only to find out that it wasn't ready. I reminded him that he said it was done and he had no reply, just reiterated how busy he was. Two weeks later, coat is finally finished. Trip #4. Alterations were sloppy at best and I saw that he had discarded a leather tab that was on one of the sleeves. I asked what happened and he said he decided to leave it off. Really? Would have thought that was my decision. Fortunately, he empties his trash about as often as he empties his ashtray so he was able to fish it out and sloppily reattach it. Again, this is a leather specialty store that specializes in leather repair and tailoring. Demeanor and smell aside, I expected perfect work and received something not even close. I wore the coat maybe a few times, had my local tailor try and repair the shoddy work he performed and ended up giving it away. Not sure about his other work but if you need leather or suede altered or repaired, I would stay the hell away.

Plz don't come if you don't want to ruin your day!…read more I've been to this shoe repair store three times, and unfortunately, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing due to the rude and unprofessional attitude of the staff member there. The boss was fine, but the staff was truly rude. Dealing with such a thing on Saturday literally ruined my weekend. Therefore, I wish to share the whole story with you guys here. On my third visit, I clearly told the staff that I didn't want to spend too much on an outsole replacement, since this particular pair of shoes only cost $95. I even said that if the cost was too high, I would prefer to buy a new pair. The staff assured me the job would be $35, which I agreed to. However, when I returned to pick up the shoes, I was suddenly told the price was $85. I felt helpless since there was no invoice given, and the service has already been done. When I questioned the change, the staff became rude and dismissive, showing a very negative attitude rather than calmly explaining the misunderstanding. It turns out the $35 quote was only for the heel--not the full sole replacement--which was never made clear to me. Thankfully, the boss stepped in and agreed to a $50 charge, which I accepted. But the damage was already done in terms of the experience. After the boss agreed on $50, the staff becomes even more rude to me. This is the reason why I would like to share this experience with everybody else to help your guys avoid such experience. What made this worse is that I had already been tolerant in the past. For example, during a previous service, the staff got black oil/dirt on my shoes which was a pair of brand new Saint Laurent sandals with retail price $770 dollars before tax, but I chose not to complain and continued to support the business. I expected a little more care and respect in return. Please refer to the attached pic for more details. After this last visit, I've lost trust in this store. I don't recommend going to a place where simple communication turns into conflict and customers are treated with such negativity. There are many other stores out there--choose one that values honesty and respectful service.

My favorite suede Coach loafers and no name leather boots are beauties once again!…read more They have both been to the cobbler more than once over the past 5 or 6 years, and they both get absolutely worn to death in the spring & fall. Ryan took two shoes on their last leg and gave me back what could be new out of the box shoes. The stains in the suede (bright green from I don't know what) are almost entirely gone, the holes (yes, actual holes) in the boots leather are patched and smoothed out, the leather is glossy, shiny and new and both of their soles are reinforced and looking great. We also brought in 3 pairs of birks or other suede shoes and had them cleaned to perfection. This is my second time using his services and I couldn't be happier. From cleanings to putting new heels on, my shoes never look better. And communication? 5 stars just for that. It's a super easy process: Drop off your shoes and leave contact info. Ryan will text you with photos, pricing, what can and can't be done before he gets started so you have full approval and knowledge. He'll let you know when they are ready and where to Zelle or pay with CC. And then you go and pick up! Easy. Good for the environment because we are not just throwing away something after a season of use, good for our wallets (5 pairs was around $200) and just good work. I'll absolutely be using his services again!

My wife found Mr. Maksoud's. At first I was a bit hesitant, but gave it a shot. The place is exactly what I like. Small, the smell of leather and shoe polish that greets you upon entering. Shoes and handbags strewed about. And in the middle of it all is George. Positive, quick with witty retorts, and busy working. He put new heels on a pair of old Cole Haan boots, that I wasn't ready to let go of. George even said they are nice and worth keeping. After about 9 days, I returned to pick them up. The work was great and the price was excellent. 40 dollars. Other places in the area would have charged double. I'm so glad my wife found this place. George also makes keys.

It's as skinny as my patience on a Monday morning--charming, sure, but not exactly built for heavy lifting. After dragging my tote across the globe and using it as a makeshift suitcase accessory, the inevitable happened: the handle started to part ways with the bag. Naturally, my first thought was to consult the LV store for repairs. When they quoted me a jaw-dropping $400 for handle replacements, I nearly choked on my avocado toast. Why shell out that much when the bag itself cost me $750 back in the day? And the repair time typically range from 12 to 26 weeks!!!! Time to shop around. Here's what I found: * Leather Spa 55 (NYC): $200 per handle. * Rago Brothers (NJ): Two new handles for around $395, or repairing one at the base for about $125. Basically, not much better than LV's offer. Just when I was about to resign myself to a life of broken bag straps, I stumbled upon rave reviews for Mr. Maksoud's Handbags & Shoe Repair. Words like "reasonable," "quick," and "great job" were being thrown around. Intrigued, I decided to give it a shot. Mr. Maksoud did not disappoint. He quoted me $200 for both handles, but since I brought my own leather handles from Etsy (because I'm resourceful like that), he only charged me $50. In just a week, he transformed my bag from tragic to magic. I couldn't be happier! Oh, and did I mention? Mr. Maksoud is quite the handsome gentleman. Highly recommended!
