i came to this place for the first time today, not knowing what was in store for me. my little niece is a soccer fanatic, mostly plays year round now that this place is in existence. it seems like a great thing to do on a saturday afternoon instead of the usual big-box store shopping to be had around town. you walk into this large aluminum-clad building, where two-fields await to be populated. from co-ed teams, to men's open, to youth leagues; turlock indoor provides a multitude of opportunities for all ages wishing to get their futbol on. this place seems like a great place for kids to play, barricaded in thick plastic walls while the fanatical screams of parents cheer their kids from beyond the plastic barricade; the sidelines. i do not understand how a group of adults, playing soccer, would feel comfortable playing in such isolated conditions. i played soccer 12 years and there is something about being outside, warming up in the cold weather and getting the game on not having the aide of wall to bounce the ball off of. the condition of the "field" that people play on seems quite grotesque. i feel most badly for those who trip and eat face and the goalies who usualy get the grunt of the dust flying up from what looks like carpet astroturf. i am bias to this type of material as i once did an environmental/health report for green business class in college and the harmful affects of such materials that reek havoc not only on adults, but children who play on such turf. i can only imagine what lies in the dust. most turf does have an under-fill of small rubber pellets which are usually digested (and into sewer systems if turf is used outdoors). all in all, you meet parents from either side of the teams, all cheering their own teams on, while cheering not so loudly for the opponents; yet you feel a general want for all kids involved jsut to enjoy and play the game. i definitely will be coming back to cheer on my nieces team every saturday!

    Lets go!
