After making my phone call outside I realize their rollup door was open so I could view my daughters practice from outside and not have to worry about the face mask on. At which .5 minutes later or so I noticed one of the employees pointing in my direction and conversation about me, then they proceeded to roll down the door from which I was viewing my daughter from outside of their facility. At this point I put my mask on and covered my nose completely and walked inside to ask why theyRolled down the door from which I was viewing my daughters practice from outside, they replied I was within 6 feet of the outside door without a mask on and that was not OK. I mentioned to the employee that we pay for our daughter to come here for gymnastics not to be scrutinized/harrassed For a individual employees thoughts on if a mask should be worn outside of a facility while viewing their children practice.. more than thankful to other parents that witnessed this incident speak up in front of the employees and say it was out of line and I was outside of the building which did not make any sense.. needless to say with the way we were treated and embarrassed we withdrew our child from this JUDGEMENTAL business!!! For all parents looking for a place for their kids to learn gymnastics there are plenty of other options in the area.

This is not the kind of service I would expect from a gym that charges over $200 per month. They didn't even seem concerned about my child or our families' experience. Before enrolling, I spoke with three different people about my son's AuDHD and support needs. I initially asked about Starbound, which was discontinued during COVID. They plan to bring it back, and someone was supposed to contact me. After more than a week without hearing back, I learned that person was on emergency leave, which I completely understood. At that point, we had no timeline, and staff suggested a trial class. I registered online and received another call asking about his needs. I explained everything again and was assured the instructors would be informed. I repeatedly told my husband how impressed I was with their communication, professionalism, and timely calls. Those interactions gave us confidence in trying the class. When we arrived, the experience was completely different. The gym felt chaotic and overstimulating. We checked in, paid, and were told the instructor would call his name in about ten minutes. There was no gym tour or individual introduction, despite the introductory email describing those steps. This was a class for 3 to 4 year-olds. My son barely 3, has AuDHD, and entered an unfamiliar space full of exciting things. He immediately began to run around. The instructor said things like, "You need to listen," and told him he could not do gym if he did not come over. She reached for his hand, and he recoiled. She was a stranger who had never been introduced to him. Parents were not allowed into the area to help. I understand that classes need rules and instructors must keep everyone safe. But I had specifically called ahead to explain his challenges. I expected that information to shape how he was welcomed and supported. My son admittedly continued running around. Other staff tried to help individually, and I appreciate their efforts. However, they appeared unprepared for his needs and unaware of what we had shared. We took him out early to avoid disrupting the other students. He cried because he wanted to stay and play, asking why he could not play. We were distraught. It broke our hearts to think that leaving could feel like being punished simply for being himself. Afterward, I asked about Starbound at the front desk. The woman was kind, but when she opened his profile,said, "Oh, I see now." His needs appeared to be documented, yet that information did not seem to have reached his instructors. I do not blame instructors for information or training they may not have received. Some are young and have multiple children to support. But GymStars needs to do better with training, reviewing student information, and communicating before class--especially when a parent has gone out of their way to explain their child's needs repeatedly. This was a scheduled trial recommended by staff. There was time to prepare. As an educator myself, I expected, at minimum, a personal introduction and a tour. We plan to return tonight to try the superhero class and see whether it better matches his needs. We still hope for a positive experience and are willing to update this review. Children with autism and ADHD need access to movement and recreation, too. Our son wanted to climb, jump, and play. We wanted somewhere he could do that with support and understanding. No parent should leave in tears while their child cries about wanting to play after working so hard to prepare everyone involved. The care we experienced over the phone needs to carry through to the children on the gym floor. Update: After posting this review, the gym called, and Niki went over their current Starbound availability with me. We discussed whether the superheroes class would be a good fit for my son and decided to wait until January to enroll him, when Saturday availability opens. They also credited the trial fees to his account for future use.

A responsible business model would be to show all the costs upfront but they make you pay starting costs and surprise you with hidden costs for competitions and fundraisers. It's like a pyramid scheme as the gym is run by young people who may not understand honest business tactics and morals towards their customers. You cannot tell people that they paid everything needed and then surprise them with more mandatory costs. That breaks people's trust in you and your business like a scam for money. Where is the money we gave them and what are they using it for? They keep asking for more money on top of charging you almost $3,000 to start to attend this gym. For competitions, they charge you additionally and then they ask for your child's picture and their birth certificate. They should not need your child's birth certificate to compete and have it uploaded on a public website as this is a red flag for me. What are they using this for? I don't think we are coming back next year as there are so many red flags that Amy the owner does not seem to know how to run a honest business that is for the kids especially since they are not honest about the costs to the parents. To clarify, I am not a member, I am a parent that was concerned. We wanted our little 3 yr old to enjoy cheerleading but this is not the case as it is a hardship with all your charges and we want transparency to what you use our money for since you keep asking for more. My son is autistic, and like any parent, I'm doing everything I can to help him feel included and comfortable in the world. Before starting, I made the staff aware of his needs. Instead of patience or understanding, what we experienced was the complete opposite. The instructors displayed unprofessional and hurtful behavior--making uncomfortable looks, using hand gestures to signal him to go away, and essentially excluding him rather than supporting him. No child should ever be made to feel like they don't belong--especially in a place that's supposed to encourage growth and confidence. Watching this happen to my son was devastating. I understand that not every instructor is trained to work with children who have different needs--but that is exactly why proper training and awareness are so important. If you're going to work with young children, compassion, patience, and inclusivity should be the baseline. I share this so other parents are aware. Every child deserves kindness, respect, and a chance to participate without judgment. I hope this business takes this seriously and invests in educating their staff so no other child or parent has to go through this.

First of all, I've seen the head coach/manager of the ninja program constantly scold and belittle the boys when they have a hard time following directions or keeping up. It's rude, disrespectful, and so inappropriate -- these are kids! This is supposed to be a fun, positive class where they can move, learn, and feel proud of themselves, not a place where they get talked down to or embarrassed in front of others. I've complained about this same coach before, hoping something would change, but nothing ever does. It's really disappointing that this kind of behavior continues to be allowed. And then there's the ticket system. It's completely unfair and honestly feels cruel. At the end of class, the kids are lined up and only a few are chosen for tickets, while others -- including my son -- are left standing there empty-handed, over and over again. The coaches seem to pick the same kids every week, like they have favorites. My son comes home in tears thinking he did something wrong or just wasn't good enough. It breaks my heart. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way -- other parents I know have said the same thing. All kids should be encouraged and praised for their effort, not compared or made to feel less than. This is hurting their confidence and self-esteem. Something needs to change. Kids deserve a safe, positive, and encouraging space -- not one that makes them feel small or left out.

The negative aspects are for me as a spectator. First off, there's only a few chairs but about 20 parents cramped in there. You either have to stand or wait outside or in your car. I really want to watch my kid during the class and see her progression, but I have to wait in my car and miss the whole class. The vibe inside is extremely awkward. The moms of the competitive cheerleading class also cram into the same room. You would think the seating was assigned, as the same people always get "their" spots. The cheerleading moms are obnoxious and cliquey. They talk about inappropriate topics that everyone can hear. They have no shame. No one is friendly there except for the instructors. They should make it to where the classes aren't at the same time. I wouldn't recommend this studio based on the atmosphere, but I really hope they can change some things to make it more comfortable.
