I keep returning to this solid Turkish spot for their fantastic price-fix dinner at $21.95: 4 filling courses of tasty treats. The sigara and the yalanci dorma are pretty good, and so are their shepherd and green salads. As entrees, the doner kebab and the lamb with okra are both well prepared. The baklava is tiny, but still satisfying. Overall, it might not be the best Turkish food I've ever had, but it's pretty darn close (I spent two weeks in Turkey this summer). And for what they charge you in their price-fix, it's an unbelievable value. The service continues to be outstanding. I know I will continue to go back. read more

We ordered Turkish Kitchen via Uber Eats for takeout last night and could not have been more impressed with the quality of the food and how it all arrived. Timing was fantastic, packaging was all super secure and well-presented, and they even included a complimentary taste of baklava for dessert! We ordered the Tavuklu Adana Kebab (chicken adana kabob), the Mantarli Tavuk Sis (chicken and mushroom kabob dish) as well as the dip sampler appetizer - all fantastic, fresh and very filling. Loved it and we both agreed it was some of "the best Turkish food ever made by human beings." We'll be returning and would 100% recommend! read more

Extremely nice place. Went as a group of 10 for lunch. Every dish ordered received good positive feedback. Even people that were skeptical about going to Turk restaurant were satisfied. Bread is superb, my friend that rarely tries bread was showing a big finger in no time. I ordered timeless classic Izgara Kofte; every bite of meat was juicy and cooked to perfection. Do I recommend you driving out of you're way to eat here probably not. The falafel is very good, excellent!! It comes with tahini and a spicy sauce that just added to the flavor, you could tell the falafel is fresh! The hummus is also a must when you order the falafel they bring you out warm bread and it's very good. We shared the chicken Adana skewers and it wasn't amazing. I thought it was a bit chewy but the flavors were there. They give you a choice between onion and pita or rice. For the price why don't they give both?I asked for a side of there yogurt sauce which was very good, thick, and creamy. The interior decor will win you over its very beautiful inside, white tablecloth, nice relaxing music, upper and lower level seating amazing. The food in general was okay, everything was great maybe next time I would just get something other than the chicken Adana since it didn't win me over. I live in the neighborhood and I was enticed by a sign for a 10$ lunch special consisting of an appetizer and an entree. I stopped in an ordered Kofte (wheat patties stuffed with lamb) for the appetizer and Lamb with okra in a tomato broth for my entree. Then I sat... and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, after upwards of 20 minutes my lunch was ready. I get home and unwrap it excitedly. The Kofte is delicious, but I'm dumbfounded when I open my main dish. It's 3 minuscule pieces of lamb floating in a sea of mushy okra (picture uploaded). What little lamb there was tasted OK, but the okra was practically inedible and the portion was laughable. After eating all the lamb and rice they gave me, I was still starving. They get one additional star for giving me extra bread due to the wait. If it wasn't for that I'd be hungry enough to order a second lunch from somewhere else. I can't comment on dining in but I recommend avoiding take out from here. There are better options in the neighborhood. read more

Turkish Kitchen located on 3rd Ave serves good food. We called ahead to make reservation for a group of 4 but were told to just walk in. A little surprising for a weekend night. On reaching there we realized they have ample seating area upstairs and downstairs. They also have a small Dias in the restaurant - likely they host artists/ performers. The menu has extensive options. We ordered a couple starters and eventually entrees. I ordered the chicken kebab, my friends the lamb pot pie and salmon. The food was delicious. Their dessert selection is very interesting - they bring out a sample platter and let you pick; a unique method I've haven't yet seen at another restaurant. We ordered the almond pudding and it was yummy. Note that the place is a little pricey. Each entree costs upwards of $20. Overall do recommend if you're in for the steep expense. read more

Attractive moderately priced restaurant with a moderate noise level, excellent food and service. We started with a grilled octopus appetizer and excellent bread and olive oil (our request). My lamb with mashed eggplant was flavorful, though there was more eggplant than necessary and a few crunchy vegetables would have been nice. That's probably not traditional, just something I would have liked. My companion's whole sea bass was grilled to perfection, moist and not dry. The broccoli and cauliflower with it were perfect. We were stuffed and en route to a performance, so no wine and no dessert, but we'll be back. read more

Absolutely fabulous! My date who is from the Mediterranean loved the food and it is one of the few Mediterranean places in the city he will eat. We had grape leaves and beef sausage as an appetizer. Both were flavor packed! Our entrees were the lamb tinder for me which was the best flipping lamb I've ever had. He had a beef plate and I loved his rice.. Beef was ok. But sautéed veggies were out of this world! The Riesling wine was nothing to write home about but his mixed drink was flavor packed and there was a lot of it. I am not the biggest fan of Turkish food, but after coming here I might have changed my mind. The lamb we are was definitely tender, the spices were not too excruciating, and the sauce soaked pita was probably the best part of the meal. I would stick with some lamb meal and rice. The food is definitely over priced, so be ready to drop $18 bucks on one plate. I liked the decor and the neon martini glasses. A tip: make sure you go to the second floor if you have a super loud/drunk friend or are with a loud group of individuals because otherwise the restaurant is not too loud. read more

I had a wonderful dinner here with a group of seven friends. I can't say enough about the delicious food and the great service. We had many appetizers, char grilled octopus salad, shepard salad, filo scrolls stuff with feta, fried calamari and the Turkish pizza. Entrees we tried were the Sis Kebab (baby lamb chops), Manti (beef dumplings), and Yogurtlu Karisik (grilled lamb and chicken with garlic yogurt and tomato sauce over pita bread). For dessert we sampled the Baklava, Almond Pudding and the baked shredded wheat with pistachio, and of course a couple Turkish coffees! This place is not as used to be. Was over there for lunch. Just terrible!! The servers do not know what they are doing, the dishes were extremely tasteless. On a miserable rainy/snowy night we wanted to stay closer to home, and this was only a few block hike to venture out in the elements. We arrived (even though no reservations on a Saturday night) around 6:30 ish, and were seating fairly quickly. Our coats were and umbrellas were swept away, as we were guided to our table. We started our meal with Essa beer (Turkish beer) and Hummus and some wonderful crunchy on the outside and fluffy warm on the inside bread (oh so good)! My Cousin and I went for the stuffed Cornish Game Hen, stuffed with a rice mixture and served with zucchini pancakes and sliced potatoes. It comes on a huge place but really not too filling and the spices and seasonings really perfect. Cornish Game Hen moist considering it was stuffed when baked, and had a tomatoey gravy....mmmmmmmmm. My husband had a chicken and lamb dish that looked good but honestly I was so absorbed in my own I really didn't pay attention to what he had ordered. For dessert my husband had a Turkish coffee (boring decaf for moi) and we shared their amazing Baklava...OMG....dripping in honey on the bottom, flakey and crisp on top. These were the capper to a really enjoyable meal. The menu had many Lamb and Eggplant dishes for you fans out there, me not so much on either. But the Cornish Game Hen Excellent! read more

I have passed this place several time and always wanted to try it since it looks so inviting. When a friend suggested meeting here, I jumped at the opportunity to try it. I am glad I did. The ambience is lovely and the food is pretty good. We decided to order a combination of appetizers so we can try different items on the menu than order a big entree for each of us. I am so glad we chose that route since we got to taste more than one dish. Between us, we got dolma, Mucver (zucchini pancakes), falafel, and and order of feta and tomatoes. Personally, I loved the Mucver but the falafel was only so-so in my book. I like a falafel that is more coarse than reconstituted cookie cutter variety. I look forward to going back to lunch sometime. My friend who suggested the place thinks the early bird special is a steal for a 4-course meal. read more

Went here for lunch based on the high Zagat rating for Turkish food (of course there isn't that much competition when it comes to Turkish food). I had the prix fixe lunch menu ordering the following: - Manti - Cacik - Doner Kebab - Baklava - Turkish coffee The Manti was exceptionally good with a wonderful balance of aromatic spices and seasoning. A full entree version of the dish would have been very good. Unfortunately, my entree was the Doner Kebab which was a bit oily and had a very unexceptional presentation -- street food on a plate. The Cacik was strong and flavorful. The Baklava was good and a bit of a delight not have had any for some time. Finally the coffee was a very nice finish. The fact that all of this was included for $16.95 was a steal. I am surprised the place wasn't filled with college students. So while I missed on the one entree, I can reconcile that it was the outlier in an otherwise nice lunch. read more

I came here for a casual dinner gathering with my classmates. To be honest, the food was good but not so impressive. I believe I had better before. But my Turkish friend took us here and she said this is her favorite place. So, maybe it's just that my taste is different. But most of all, one thing really made me feel uncomfortable here was their service. The staffs here may be relatively attentive, but above all, weird. Simply weird. I can't even really clearly explain, but everybody acted awkward. I also noticed that the manager-look guy's attitude to all the employees was far from something good and that made the ambiance even worse. If the service were different here, I would give 3.5-4 stars. I might come back here if I have to. At least they seem to have a good Sunday brunch special. read more

I never had Turkish food before so I don't know if it was authentic. So basically this dish is char grilled chicken stuffed with tomatoes and capsicum. For desserts we had Revani which is similar to Knafa (Mediterranean dessert). The portions served are small do make sure one person order one whole dish. SERVICE: The waiter was polite and dressy. I suggest you wear nice clothes and go if you want better attention. The food was served within 25 minutes from the time ordered. PRICE: It's pricey! $$$ definitely! Tastes great, and the lunch special is totally reasonable at 2 items for $12.95 or 4 items for $14.95. I'd also like to call out the service for being excellent - someone in our party was 40 minutes late to a reservation. Eh, I really hate to say I did not enjoy this meal. It kills me that for what I got, and didn't enjoy, we ended up pretty much throwing away $100 of our money. It's not often we take a trip to the big Apple, so we like to try and make it special. I prefer to wander around and randomly choose somewhere to eat. To me the food was on the bland side. The bread did not seem so fresh. Service was fairly friendly, yet there were soooo many employees that were huddled in the near back staring in our direction talking amongst themselves. My back was to them but my fiancé was in full view and he was very uncomfortable. I could even feel the eyes and turned around a few times to try and give a hint. I'm sure they were just keeping an eye to make sure everything was ok, but a large group doing so is unnecessary. read more

This dining experience was really good considering the price point of the menu. Everything my table ordered was amazing along with the almond pudding and baklava desserts. I had the dish that had beef and lamb over a pita bread garnished in garlic yogurt sauce and it was really good. The restaurant was really classy and the only thing I can critique is the waitress leaving us unattended for so long after eating when we wanted the check. I believe that the check issue was a cultural expectation from my experience so this experience still remains five stars. read more

Turkish Kitchen has been around for ages, even almost a decade ago when I lived in the Murray Hill area. Much of the nabe has changed, but this place has remained as authentic as ever. It's truly ethnic Turkish, almost with perhaps a....Russian/Balkan influence? No "clean" Mediterranean ish here. Came here at 630 but ended up eating aroudn 7pm waiting for a friend, there was a table ready for us but surprisingly, a lot of people made reservations. I do feel like they try to make this spot a bit fancier than it is - service is very formal - which is appreciated for sure but a bit unnecessary (there's a coat rack). We started out with yummy Manti beef dumplings in a decadent yogurt sauce (only found out at authentic Lebanese or Turkish places), and an order of hummus. They give you white bread loaf instead of pita to dip. For dinner, I had the chicken adana kebab. Great flavor, very meaty and filling (large chunks), but the dish was overall a bit salty (and I like salt). Perhaps I should have gotten it with rice to soften that up, but I instead got onion and pita (came with grilled tomato) They did kindly bring out yogurt sauce to cut the salt. My friend got an authentic and delish looking doner kebab - shaved lamb? Beef? I think beef over sticky white rice. We skipped dessert (they bring out a platter wrapped in plastic) -very old school but they looked like good baklava, etc al. As we left, they pushed us for a Sunday brunch buffet which looks good and something I'd want to hit up in the future for sure. Came here for New Year's Eve. I was so glad they were not doing a NYE special. Those NYE specials are usually over priced and not even good. We came here with a stroller and thought we were in trouble because there were steps to get in the restaurant. The staff was so nice that they came out to help bring the stroller down. The staff throughout the whole night was super nice and attentive. So we were already happy from the moment we walked in. The appetizers we ordered were really good. The hummus was great and so was the salad. We then got our entrees and we were blown away. The food was so good. I loved my chicken kabobs and the Iskender kabob! We eat a lot of Turkish food and the meat here and was cooked or grilled to perfection!! Another person in our party got the lamb shank which was also amazing!! We were not a fan of the rice but that comes down to preference. We would rather of had plain white rice instead of the rice mixed with spices. The ambiance was nice, the pictures are very accurate.
