Food: Fresh, colourful, well plated. Service : that was a major RED flag for us. Ambience: Loved their theme, paintings on walls and lively atmosphere. We had the Turkish coffee, Karides, Tavuk Adana, Falafel platter, Tap Amber and Baklava. We love Turkish delicacies and always head to whenever available. There is a massive portion of well seasoned salad served with your main. The falafel platter comes without any pita! Which was surprising. Most disappointing experience at the Turkish delight was Marko, he seemed disinterested to serve since the time we placed our order. He forgot about our Turkish coffee, and when we reminded him. While heading to the kitchen he made remarks like yes it is 5$ even the kahve is 5$ I can get that for you! I mean we never did mention of anything being pricey or showed reluctance and yet he was rude. Whichever dessert we asked for was unavailable except the Baklava- which was highly disappointing! We have never had such a heavy, soggy, baklava. Rude behavior landed in no tip and Marko told the entire staff, later staring at us. Your food speaks for itself, wrong attitude is not going to help you. We could see few other servers buttering up the customers too. The restaurant closes at 9pm and they kept taking orders till 8.45 pm even though we could hear Miriam saying the kitchen closes soon! I wonder how soon that was since the kitchen closed for us at 8.15pm. Overall, It was a bad experience for us.
I absolutely love Turkish food, and after having the opportunity to spend a month in Turkey, I fell in love with the people, the country, the culture, and especially the food. So finding Turkish Delight here in Anchorage makes me incredibly happy! One of the things I loved most about Turkey was the culture around food and simply spending time together. It was never just about eating and leaving. You sit, talk, enjoy each other's company, and of course drink Turkish tea out of those beautiful little glasses. I have so many great memories of people simply bringing you tea and sitting together. There is something so warm and welcoming about that part of Turkish culture, and seeing the tea served that way here immediately brought some of those memories back. The food was amazing! Everything was fresh, colorful, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The falafel with tahini was delicious, and the plate with rice, grilled vegetables, salad, bread, and all the different flavors reminded me why I love Turkish and Mediterranean food so much. There are also so many different options on the menu that I already know I need to come back and try more. The restaurant itself is bright, clean, comfortable, and has a really relaxing atmosphere. This is exactly the kind of place I would want to come with friends, order several different things, drink tea, share food, talk, and just spend time together. I feel so blessed and grateful that we have a place like this in Anchorage. It brought back some wonderful memories of my time in Turkey, and I cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend Turkish Delight, especially if you love Turkish food or want to experience a little taste of Turkish culture right here in Alaska!
A great deep dive into Turkish fare! We got the Kofte, Tavuk Sis, Doner Fries, and a Kahve. Delicious and varied flavors across the board, with some standouts being the tender chicken thigh chunks, the beef meatballs, and the ezme (spicy red dip). Ingredient quality was great too. It's a shame they ran out of the Hunkar Begendi that night, I really wanted to try it. Definitely recommend!
I'm not familiar with Turkish food so I was very excited to try. I didn't realize how popular this place is. There were several people in front of us but it only took about 10 minutes to get seated. The place looked very clean and the kitchen was partially open, so it was cool to see a bit of the prep going on. We started with the dolmas. They were very flavorful. It was savory and slightly sweet. Maybe there were raisins that I tasted. The yogurt sauce was lovely. I got the iskender which did not disappoint. The meat was tender and the butter tomato sauce was soaked up by the naan underneath and was perfectly spiced. I had a bite of the falafel. It was very crunchy on the outside but I found it to be a bit dry even with the hummus and sauce. I also had a bite of the chicken skewer. I found it nicely seasoned but it wasn't my favorite out of everything we ordered. Overall very good and I can't wait to come back.
Falafel was seemingly overcooked. I've never had this dark brown falafel before. It made it challenging to chew. The hummus was wonderful. Made it through 4 falafel before I gave up after one bite tasted moldy. There was also rotten lettuce in the side salad.
Delicious bright fresh and flavorful food prepared and plated to perfection! Every bite is worth it. Peaceful atmosphere and fitting ambiance. First inquisitive visit led to several repeat visits immediately following and no bit of service was ever compromised on any level. Kind friendly and excellent service! This has become one of my top faves!
If you like bland food do NOT order from here. This place goes crazy with the spices in the most spectacular way! THE BEST DONER KEBAB I HAVE EVER HAD, HANDS DOWN! (Basically a gyro with way more flavor). I will seriously be coming back just for that. Also there French fries are bomb & perfectly seasoned. This place is a hidden gem, and I am so glad they are on door dash & deliver from Muldoon to abbott area. Thank you, Returning customer
Amazing turkish food. Iskender doner is my go to. Being an out of towner, I look for something unique. Have had this place twice along with the iskender. Dessert kunefe is good from other places but note to put this in early bevause I was told it would take 30 mins. aren't with the maras dondurma ice cream.
This restaurant is under new ownership as of MAY 2023!! The original owners are enjoying retirement, and hand selected a new Turkish family to pass their legacy on. The old owners were a lovely family, and selected a brother & sister duo as the proud new owners of this restaurant. They are also very lovely, and are working hard to share their culture with us. If you go to the restaurant they are sometimes working the service floor, and are super friendly. The duo are very proud of their heritage, and are happy to share it with Anchorage. The space & menu has been completely refreshed. I love the new vibe of the restaurant. It's much lighter inside now with beautiful white oak tables & chairs. Touches of bright blue throughout & beautifully decorated. The space has a much more Mediterranean feel. The restroom is probably one of the nicest ones in Anchorage with Turkish glass light fixtures & they used to have a gorgeous mosaic sink bowl until a customer broke it. The artwork around the restaurant is a display of Turkish culture. Service has always been excellent when I have dined there. There was one time I went on a Tuesday during lunch, and the restaurant was packed. There were only 2 servers working the floor so things were a bit crazy, but everyone was working hard, and doing their best. That's all you can hope for when you see that type of situation. I'm glad they have become so popular as it really is an excellent restaurant! The menu has become way more extensive, and while it includes some of the popular Turkish dishes from the previous owners it has become so much more than that. You can sample way more of the country's cuisine; not just items that are well known (doner kebab, humus, baklava). The menu has all the dishes written in the Turkish language, which I appreciate. In my humble opinion the new owners have really brought us a more well rounded & accurate taste of Turkey. The only dish I do miss from the previous owners is their Kalamar. I've dined there 3 times under the new owners, and have found everything to be absolutely delicious. The food is beautifully presented, and I've got to sample way more of the Turkish cuisine. The meze selection is much more extensive now with a selection of cold & hot items. My favorites have been the ezme, dolma, Patlican Salata, sigara borek, antep cheese, and Havuç Meze. Their humus is also delicious, but I love being able to try new items. The Köfte & Adana are some of my favorite dishes from Turkey so I was happy to see them added to the new menu. Both dishes are flavorful and plentiful. I also tried manti for the first time, which are ground beef dumplings. They reminded me of mini ravioli. They were hearty, and delicious. Definitely a "stick to your ribs" type of meal. I've also had the opportunity to try all of their desserts. I love Künefe so I was ecstatic to see it on the menu, and it did not disappoint. Warm, cheesy, sweet goodness. If you are a big super sweet dessert person you are not going to find that here. These desserts are way more subtle in sweetness, but still 109% worth the try. Their baklava is excellent as are the lokum (Turkish delight). Those are probably the sweetest items. The Kabak Tatlisi (butternut squash) is probably my other favorite after the kunefe & baklava. The drink selection has Turkish tea & turkish coffee (served with a lokum) as well as housemade mint lemonade, which is very refreshing, and Ayran (a yogurt based drink). There is also a great selection of beer & wine including a lager imported from Turkey. If you have not ever dined at Turkish Delight I would highly recommend it! It is one of the only Mediterranean cuisine restaurants (besides Greek) that we have in town. It's a great celebration of Turkish cuisine, and heritage. Under the new ownership I believe that the food has been elevated, and it's a way more well rounded representation of Turkey!
Such a great dining experience with friends this evening. We've gotten the falafel platter to go many time previously. This was the the first time for a sit-down meal. It did not disappoint. From the Turkish tea and coffee to the appetizers, main courses, and unique desserts--everything was spectacular. A++ Service was very attentive, but not rushed. A very nice pace. We arrived at 5 and there were a few diners, but by 6:30-7 it was packed. Friends commented on how clean it was, the nice artwork on the walls, and the overall feel. Absolutely joy!
Still a "diamond in the rough". I look forward to this meal every time I'm in Anchorage. Reservations are highly encouraged for dinner, but worth the wait if you forget. Traditional Adana kebab, çoban salat, and Sigar börek is enough to make my heart sing. Beware of the grilled pepper! On previous visits they have been charred to bring out the sweet. Unfortunately, this little devil was 1000% HEAT that I felt for hours after just one bite (I don't do spicy). Passed on the baklava and chi this time in favor of an Efes. Highly recommend!!! Delight is an understatement! çok güzel
The food is excellent! The space is very limited. The atmosphere is bright and loud, the opposite of a cozy, intimate ambiance. Very nice sized portions, fairly priced for Anchorage, Ak. Everyone else in Anchorage offers straws. This isn't Cali. get some straws. Our server, Rajneesh, was an absolute delight. Knowledgeable, yet funny and very attentive. He's only been with the outfit for two weeks, but you'd never know it. Oddly great business for being in the middle of a strip mall. They do have a huge inefficiency issue. Be sure you MAKE A RESERVATION. In the 90 minutes we were there, they turned away 14 paying customers, while OVER HALF the tables sat empty with reserved signs. For an hour and a half. They're closed with a two hour split between lunch and dinner, so there's no sliding in for an off meal. Walk-ins might find a niche during lunch (11:30-4:30). We were lucky a reservation canceled at 4:45, otherwise, that's not a good time. Maybe a late dinner after 8:00 works for you? We don't understand good Turkish from bad, but in our book, it was a big winner and we will be returning, just have to figure out when! 06/23

I tried several items here: dolmas, hummus, babaganoush, iskender. I could go without the babaganoush because it wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. Everything else tasted fresh and delicious. I'd like to go back to try other items. The kebabs that several in our party ordered looked juicy and they said the food was great. Service was impeccable. read more

Been wanting to try this place for awhile now. Son and i stopped in around 3 and had the place to ourselves, I thought, before others started coming in. We had doner kebob plate, meat shaved from the spinning contraption. It was so good. Plate came with rice, sauce and small salad. I opted for the falafel sandwich, had about 6 in the pita bread. This was also really good. We shared baklava and the Turkish delights. These were awesome. Jello like squares with pistachio on bottom rolled in powder sugar. We can't wait to come back to try the lentel soup and some appetizers. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Little pricy but I didn't mind considering the food and service were great. read more

This meal was delicious! Since my husband and I moved here from Chicago, we've missed this kind of cuisine so much. Man we're we excited to find this place! The chicken kebab is pictured here and is AMAZing... some of the best chicken I've ever ordered at a restaurant. The spanakopita is crisp and delicious, not soggy. We finished off our meal with baklava and it also was fantastic. The service was great! The head waiter is friendly and obviously passionate about the food he is serving! The atmosphere is quiet, clean, trendy, and included charming aspects of Turkish culture. I will definitely be going back and recommending it to my friends! read more

Having lived in Adana, the "Adana" kebab IS NOT authentic nor even close!! Instead of thinly skewered meat along with traditional helpings of Sogan and roasted tomatoes- it's an overly priced and overly spiced hamburger(and not lamb!!) log....the pita was not cooked on top of the meat and instead laid flat and the "log" placed on top...definitely NOT how it's done on the streets of Adana....skip this one. read more

This may be one of my new favorite spots in town! Delicious food, good prices and exceptionally kind + knowledgeable staff. Just stopped for lunch and will DEFINITELY be back for dinner! The special Chicken Tava was a spicy tomato based stew and the Rose tea was incredible! Took home some Turkish Delight as a treat. Highly recommend - and can't wait to return! read more

We came for appetizers and Turkish Coffee. The hummus was nothing special. I think that Sabra is just as good. The olive mix was served with capers and large slices of feta cheese. The olives were once again nothing special. The Feta on the other hand was amazing and worth the $7. Their home made pita was fresh from the oven and still warm. They gave generous portions of the main appetizers but it could have used double the pita. Service was slow for two waiter and only about a third full. Our server was attentive but oddly hard to get ahold of when it came time to pay. Over all I was not impressed. It wasn't bad but for the price there are better options unless you are really in the mood for Pita read more

Turkish delight provides a taste of Turkey in south central Alaska. This is the first time I have ever visited and I was impressed. The staff was friendly and prompt. The location was recently remodeled and looks great. The atmosphere is warm, with the air filled with the smell of fresh lamb and the sound of Turkish music. The prices were very good, and the portion sizes were perfect. A guest and I were very pleased with our meals. We got the hummus appetizer, the flavored just popped. It was some of the best hummus I've had. The main course was the Doner Kabab sandwich, which was filled with flavor through every bite. The dessert was nicks famous baklava, which was amazing. The crust was so flaky, and the filling was delicious. I highly recommend a visit read more

Today was our first visit to Turkish Delight and we cannot say enough good things. The little restaurant is clean and cute. The server, Jessica, was phenomenal. She genuinely made us feel like friends and she very obviously loves her job! She was happy to answer all of our questions and even gave us a tiny sample of something we were curious about. We tried the hummus appetizer and the spanakopita appetizer, the Turkish tea and apple tea, the falafel entree, the doner kebab entree, the baklava, and the Turkish delights. The hummus was the absolute best hummus we've ever had, the spanakopita was light and flavorful and perfect, the entrees were SO good, so flavorful, the tea was steeped perfectly, and the desserts were out of this world. 100% recommend that you try this place. We will be back soon! read more

I am so pleasantly surprised with this place. The service was phenomenal and every aspect from the entree to the dessert was so full of flavor. I had some time to kill in this strip mall. Imagine my "delight" at finding this gem. I ordered a cup of soup to eat and an order of spanakopita to go. The soup came as a bowl, along with some "secrets" to assist how I make mine at home. They let me bring the spana home uncooked (I live an hour away) and once I'd baked it, it was fabulous. In college, I ate ALOT of excellent Mediterranean food (green-eyed Turkish boyfriend named Levant). Options in Anchorage are limited but I will be back for the food, service and ambiance. read more

We continue to regularly and enthusiastically eat at Turkish Delight. Try the eggplant shakshuka, it's addictively delicious, particularly when eaten with feta (this is not the same dish as shakshouka with eggs that you see on many Outside brunch menus). I love the house-made gyros and various kebabs. I always get an order of carrot yogurt spread - it's so good. They often have delicious specials like moussaka and chicken tava (If tava were on the regular menu I'd come here even more often than I do - hoping that will happen someday). The service is amazing and the restaurant surroundings are very pleasant. Can't wait to be there again soon! read more
