It's a precious little gem tucked behind ivy covered walls on the corner of PCH and Anderson. You walk in and feel like you've stepped into a bamboo tiki hut. Great place. I have passed by here for 30 yrs on my way to Bolsa, Huntington and Newport and never stopped even though the Turcs sign was the "entry" designation to the O.C. beach stretch. Wanted to stop at Mothers but, it was too packed and thought "what the hell Turcs is down the street" and decided to stop in. Glad we did , great place with cool people and a fireplace . Our bartender T.J. was friendly and the people in the bar were great . We met a guy "Barry" who was ......well ......entertaining , really cool people here. This is my favorite bar to go to! Jenni and Hannah are great bartenders and amazing ladies who provide the best service always with a smile. Jenni always surprises me with great cocktails and good laughs. They have two pool tables and the jukebox also some arcade games there is never a dull moment at Turcs. There is an outdoor patio with tons of seating, which is great in the daytime to catch some sun or at night to hangout with friends. Super cozy pub vibe with fireplaces around the bar. They also have games like Jenga to play. I love all the fish tanks they have, it's great to sit and watch all the different animals in the tanks move around while you sip on a nice cold cocktail or beer! Such a good group of people that go there all very welcoming and friendly. Great location in sunset beach literally steps from the beach. Bob the owner is also great and very friendly. I cane here on a Thursday night with come friends just to check it out. I had heard good things and was curious. I walked in and it seems very small. A bar with some stools, a bench or two and a fireplace. I was thrown off cause I expected it to be bigger. Then we found the back area with the pool tables and my confusion went away. Hung out there for a while and played pool with some of (what I am assuming) are regulars. Everyone was friendly and we had a good time. Drinks were made well and at a reasonable price. I love dive bars. Came to this one this past wed night. The atmosphere was great. Love the fireplace. It adds a cottage feeling to the place. Love playing pool but didn't get to play. Like the fact that it's a separate area. My biggest and only complaint was the bitch of a bartender. I was with a group of 5 and every single one of us had a different experience of her attitude. Again, I love dive bars and I understand that bartenders deal with so much bullshit but this bitch is something else. It makes me sad because this place has so much potential of creating fun memories. You have lost business because of her. I live in Seal and have driven by this place so many times. I finally stopped in a few weeks ago and was hooked. Jenni made the best Bloody Mary I've ever had, and she was so sweet. I've been back 3 other times and she is by far the best bartender they have. She's attentive to your needs, and makes sure you're taken care of. We had a group of about 12 bike up to Turks last night. The bartender was an absolute bitch. Our group was near the pool tables, and I ordered a drink and asked for her to put on the USC versus Stanford game. She gave me some attitude. I walked away only to immediately turn around, and I caught her gesturing the FU to me. Our group had a great time but everybody commented how lawful the bartender was. It's dark, it has a fireplace, it has island decor, REALLY loud music, some pool tables toward the back and a small smoking patio. I'm charmed by this place. On the outside, it looks like a giant, ivy-covered tree stump. Inside, it looks like they carved a giant bar-sized hole in said tree and used the leftover wood for seating. I like the fireplace in the corner, which wasn't going when we went. It seems like the perfect place to go after the hot day at the beach has cooled off, but you're not yet dry. The bartender is friendly and the prices are decent. One suggestion, though: dump the TVs. If there's anything I can't stand, it's a dive bar that's trying to appeal to everyone. read more

I am hoping this review gets to the manager. The reason I am writing this review is that someone named "Zack" should not be working at your establishment. A group of friends and I came in looking to get one drink. My girlfriend was kicked out at entry because she did not have ID. After not being allowed entry, she and I sat outside, waiting for the rest of the group. While we were waiting, a guy named "zack" approached my girlfriend and me. After a 5 minute conversation about complete nonsense, when asked what he was staring at by my girlfriend, he responded, "I won't say it out loud because it might embarrass you, but I will whisper it in your ear" After that, I returned about 20 minutes later to ask his name. After leaving, he followed us out and yelled across the street, "come back and say it to my face." When returning to my group of friends, I found that one of them was told by "Zack," he looked like a pedophile. The bar tender seemed to know what she was doing, and the people that were seemed like regulars, so the whole place was pretty laid back. An interesting little Dive Bar in Sunset Beach that looks inviting from the outside. It has cute little Vines all the way up and outside of its building. go inside has some good stuff like pool and giant Jenga and their drink prices are alright. Bartenders were nice. One of the alarming things was in the men's bathroom there are no sinks to wash your hands. Kind of disturbing that this place doesn't have sinks inside the bathroom or outside the bathroom to wash your hands. I know it is dive bar, and I totally get it and I'm all about dive bars but there still should be a standard of cleanliness and health issues. I don't know about the women bathroom. Did play a very broad spectrum of Music which was entertaining because you never knew what was going to come on next. Overall I would maybe come back here with a group of friends if they wanted to and I would only order something out of a bottle that has a close lid. The bartender wasn't super friendly. The place only had about 8 people in it on a Friday night. There were abandoned drinks and we were there an hour and a pool table was reserved and half played but no one ever came to play it and we didn't get to play. Dark and not super clean inside. Let me just start by saying that I live in Pasadena and rarely go to a dive bar. I am house sitting in Huntington Beach and was on my way to Harbor House but took a detour into Turcs. Jenni greeted myself and my girlfriend with a smile. We were sitting at the bar right near where the drinks are made and Jenni was constantly engaging with the customers and she was authentic. I also watched her make a jack and coke for a customer and she immediately noticed there was an issue with the soda she addressed it and then went the extra step to ask another customer if his drink tasted weird since the machine was acting up. Her customer service was AMAZING, we ended up staying for 3 drinks instead of one. We also met some really cool people. Overall great experience. read more

This place is awful. It is really small, not a great place to bring a group. There are about 8 seats at the bar area and 2 benches. The stools are bolted down. They weren't bolted in a very good position, I had to lean in to drink. The bartender seemed to be more interested in gossiping with the regulars than serving. It was unnecessarily loud. Most of the patrons were 45 and older, there's really no need to blast the music. They only except Visa and MasterCard for the credit cards. It's a bad sign when a 30 + year regular recommends another bar. read more

And we sat for a good ten minutes while the greasy pony tailed bartender glanced at us every few minutes while he talked to some hammered girls and straight ignored both of us and let us sit there like assholes waiting for a drink that didn't come. See, this is what pisses me off. . . I've been going to Turc's for decades. . . . Even back in the day when the full length of the bar was an aquarium. You set your drink right on top of the fish. . . .Even when there was an open flame grill in the back room where the pool tables are. You could stumble your sandy ass 50yds from the beach, and for $3.25 you would get a fat, uncooked, ribeye steak and a bowl of salad w/blue cheese. Carry it into the back and throw your steak onto the flame grill next to the pool tables. Play pool while turning your steak. Unfortunately, disagreements on the pool tables evidently led to people getting grill-marks on their face, and the grill was shut down a few years ago. Anyways, back to what pisses me off. . . . All these years of great beachside history, great times - and fun that you can't even remember . . . And yet, the ONLY thing everybody focuses on - is the murders . . . blah, blah, wah, wah. . .
