Sadly, I need to update my previous 5-star Tune Rite Auto review from 2023. Something has changed or I was simply a sucker all along. Two of my cars came back in worse shape immediately after they touched them, and one will have to be junked. Here's what I've learned about Tune Rite Auto. It took me two years and $10K to get there: - Tune Rite Auto is incompetent at best, and criminal at worst - Tune Rite Auto does not honor their own warranties nor make any gesture of good faith to address problems they were hired to solve I want to state I have no agenda and I accept my own misplaced trust in Tune Rite Auto. I did not follow my gut. I offer my experience for anyone who will listen. If you doubt the legitimacy of this bad review of Tune Rite Auto or have questions, I invite you to message me. I'm very visible in the community, and it's easy to prove. That said, if you have had similar problems, I encourage to you to message me. Here's the short version of the shenanigans I experienced over the last month with Tune Rite Auto: 1) In May I took my once-very-expensive car to them for an electrical issue I thought was an alternator problem because I'd noticed a minor oil leak...as most know oil leaking on alternators can burn them out, specifically on this car, which is common. The customer service rep Anthony said it was the battery, and that it needed to be replaced first (they installed a new one a year earlier, btw) so they could check things out. He insisted on a $450 full bumper-to-bumper diagnostic check before doing anything. I trusted him. 2) No surprise to me, it was the alternator. But according to Anthony, it wasn't an oil leak that caused it, but somehow the bad battery they'd installed damaged the alternator. Ridiculous. Even their own mechanic Rob later laughed about this notion. I pay them to replace the alternator and ignore Anthony's mistake because he is a friendly guy and I thought I could to trust them. 3) A few days later when I go to pick up the car, they wrangle in Rob the mechanic to tell me the oil leak is suddenly so bad that it can't be driven safely. Very high pressure, good cop/ bad cop. So I hire them to "fix" that too. After all, who doesn't like safety, right? This fix took 10 days because they "needed to buy a special tool," even though Tune Rite Auto claims to be specialists in this specific European luxury car. I have now paid them $4000 for a battery, an alternator, and to "fix" an oil leak. 4) One week later my wife and I are driving it for the first time over 50 mph, and just getting up to speed on the highway to go a few exits to celebrate a milestone for my child. The engine begins knocking like a woodpecker (telltale sign of lost oil pressure), then loses power and, well, catches on fire. I can barely turn the steering wheel and nearly get into 3 different collisions on I-95. A State Trooper helps clear a path to pull over, and shortly after Fire Rescue comes to address the fire. Now, as the car is spilling out rancid oil smoke, we all notice obvious pools of oil. Lots of it. Very alarming, but no surprise since Tune Rite Auto had been working on that leak. Then we hear an audible "pop" and we all smell and see a stream of something new: gasoline. 5) Great, they didn't fix the oil leak I paid for. OK. Fine. But now what? I tow it to Tune Rite Auto, of course, since their parts and labor are supposedly under "warranty". Of course, I'm hopeful they will honor their warranty, just as Anthony assured me they would when I paid the $4000 above. But do they? No. They refuse to acknowledge there is an oil issue at all. They claim it is only a fuel pump issue, and that their own recent $4000 in work had nothing to do with it, so they warranty wouldn't apply. Right. After 10 days of back and forth weaseling, Anthony gives me an estimate to replace the fuel pump and says there is no way they would entertain the warranty until they could determine upon closer inspection whether they were at fault (as though they could be trusted to admit that). That of course would cost 5-6 more hours in labor to figure out. In other words, it would have to pay them $1200 just so they could tell me another lie about what I already know. Notice how the previous diagnostics (1) and many hours of supposed labor solved nothing, and objectively made the car worse. They then had the audacity to hit me with an invoice for performing diagnostics I never authorized. Sooooo. In my experience I have found that Tune Rite Auto of Davie and Boca Raton is an EXTREMELY UNETHICAL business. The customer service clerk (salesman) employs an effective soft sell while the actual work is performed poorly or not at all, even though they are one of the most expensive shops around. Worst of all, I found Tune Rite Auto simply cannot be trusted. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and many opportunities to make things right, but every time they chose the opposite. I love Tune Rite Auto. To be fair, they aren't the quickest shop in town and parking is a pain. They are busy and life happens. Don't expect same-day service for major repairs. However, when it matters, they DO come through. I have a Honda Civic Hybrid vehicle and have been using them for a while now. Recently, the car went out of warranty and my air conditioner stopped working completely. The problem was the compressor. I had several quotes on the job and they were within range; their prices are usually competitive. The thing is that hybrid parts are ridiculously expensive regardless and most techs don't have the training to touch a hybrid. Add to that COVID shortages. In fact, Honda warned that they were "the only ones who could handle this complex job." The part for my car was not available anywhere in the U.S. and finding it overseas offered no guarantee of shipment in the foreseeable future. Another reputable nearby shop told me they would not be able to touch it because of the risk associated with the hybrid system....also, they were unable to find the part. Tune Rite had the confidence to accept the job because their techs are hybrid certified and highly qualified. I left the car, even though they warned that the part could take weeks or months to arrive. By God's grace, the part did show up at Tune Rite and my air conditioner is now freezing us out. I have never had that "problem" before and I will never complain about its efficiency after enduring such stifling heat. Tune Rite also has payment options that make financing easier for costly repairs. Many competitors with cheaper quotes are cash-only. The Tune Rite employees can even make a pretty mean hot lemon tea and the waiting area is comfy. Thanks to this stand-up business, I was not forced to trade in my car. I believe that they will keep her running well beyond the 200k mark. You can trust them blindly with your car and take that one worry off your plate. read more

Prior to my last experience with Tune Rite, I couldn't have been happier. They took care of my oil change and tire rotation in less than an hour and the price was very reasonable. Then came this weekend... I made an appointment to get my brake pads changed per their suggestion on my last visit. They quoted me an hour so I planned to arrive at 8am, head to the gym for a bit and then come back to pick up the car. After about 45 minutes, I was notified that the car was ready and we made our way back to pickup. I paid my invoice ($187 for new brake pads and a tire patch) and as they're testing the car, they realize they ordered the wrong pads, so I had to wait for them to get the right part delivered, which I was told would take about 10-15 minutes (their vendor is close by I guess). Long story short, I find out they ordered the wrong part TWICE and I wasn't able to leave until about 3 hours later. My wife and I had lunch plans and tickets to a show in Downtown Miami that we nearly didn't make because the job took so long. When I was finally able to leave, all I received was a "sorry for the wait..." No partial refund, or anything to make up for the huge delay. Prior to this experience, I was recommending these guys left and right but I will not be returning nor will I be recommending them any further. read more

I truly don't know where to start, but I will try to make this brief. I had newly moved to the area when my car began having difficulties. I read what seemed like hundreds of reviews on dozens of shops when I stumbled on Tune Rite. Over two years later and I can confidently say TR is the best auto shop I have experienced. Their service is exceptional, the waiting area and restrooms are always clean, and their prices are affordable. They have taken me to my car to explain repairs and have never tried to persuade me into ANYTHING. Every single person I have interacted with has been kind, genuine, and has had a customer-first attitude. They even threw a BBQ for their customers! I recommend Tune Rite to every single person I know. I have since moved away from South Florida and still find myself calling my guys at Tune Rite when I am in need of advice/guidance. They truly have become like family, especially Anthony, Julio, Freddy, John, Steve, and Ricardo. I would 1000% recommend you go to Tune Rite and would rate them 27 stars if possible. Next time you need service on your car make sure to pack a book, head to Tune Rite, and enjoy a cup of hot tea knowing your vehicle is in the best hands. read more

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience and I am the victim of fraud by this business. Ask your neighbors, friends and family, and check more reliable websites before trusting them with your car (and your family's safety). Ask people what they've heard, because once you do, you will find no real people have anything positive to say about them. I have been to this garage 2 times once to have the air conditioner compressor replaced and recently to fix the air vents on my dashboard. Both times I was totally amazed at the service. i am 70 and have had many cars and been to many repair shops but by far this is the best one ever. Both times they fixed my car quickly and properly. Explained everything to me and how much it would cost before doing the repair and why. The employees are really really nice. Both times they got me a lyft ride and they paid up to 10.00 for the ride home. On my recent the fix was easy so they didn't even charge me. I won't go anywhere else from now on. I went in to replace some lights I knew were out. I was not aware of issue with another light. Not only did they go above and beyond but I greatly exceeded my allotted time slot. Fortunately they didn't make me reschedule extra work needed because I was planning an important road trip and needed things working properly. I have been coming to TuneRite for almost 2 years and I must say it's always been a pleasure! Anthony, Jose and the team are amazing. Their customer service has never fail me. I literally came here based off a a review I seen and "group on" lol ! Their prices are the best so far . I have a Volkswagon and their prices are unmatched. The dealership prices for an oil change are horrendous and they don't even do have the things Tune Rite does. Being a single female one of my biggest concern are mechanic shops trying to rip me off. This is my favorite body shop. I dont care for body shops and waiting but I actually look forward to going to Tune Rite. The staff is super kind, respectful and patient.
