I have been back to Tumerico multiple times since my last review and it never disappoints! I have gotten the tamales again, the chilaquiles, and tostadas. All were incredible. I even took my meat-loving dad here and he loved the plant-based (jackfruit) carnitas on one of the breakfast plates. The service is always very friendly, helping those who look lost, and guiding people to find the best choice. The menu can be overwhelming for many first-timers since it is always rotating and often involve unfamiliar food items, but just know that whatever you choose you will enjoy! There is plenty of indoor seating in rooms with large windows for lots of natural light. The self-serve water station and salsa bar also add a touch of homeyness. On my last visit I ordered the Frida Kahlo Tostadas and enjoyed everything about them. All the portions for any plate here will be large, so be prepared to take food home with you. Stellar and food and service! We stopped in for lunch while visiting our friend who lives in the area. The gentleman taking our order was awesome and super friendly! This place is wonderful. No wait service was the only issue for us, but a small one. Food was high quality and delicious. The portion size was worth the price. Clean bathrooms. Ample parking. Delicious! Much more casual restaurant than I thought, and extremely quick food. Ordering is easy, you simply place an order at the register and they bring it out to you momentarily. Good service. As it was my first time, I asked for a recommendation which was the cuban tacos. I was not disappointed. The "carnitas" is jackfruit which had a sweet and tangy taste to it, well complimented by the guacamole on top. I would have preferred side salad to have a bit of salt added, and rice and beans were good. I also had the horchata latte which was delicious! I liked it less once stirred, though I'm not sure why that was the case. I'll definitely stop by again. read more

Bigger space, THE FRIENDLIEST people who put a heap of love and passion into the cuisine, the most interesting and creative menu, and generous portions. I got a curry (not what I planned to order until I saw the specials), and it was ON POINT - fresh, flavorful, and with great texture. One of these days I'm just getting dessert, but I usually go there for "real food" (i.e. not dessert, but also unprocessed) and don't have room for the treats. Awesome charming restaurant that is a plant-based destination. I was craving a Mexican-inspired macro plate and was super happy with the power plate. They have both whole pinto beans and "refried" (more like mashed) pinto beans that were both great. The restaurant is health-conscious; they cook with olive oil and some coconut oil; I don't believe they use seed oils. They have a salsa bar as well as self-serve coffee. Disappointment. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do on occasion want to skip meat, and I am a fan of Mexican; so, I've been wanting to try Turmerico for some time. First, let me say the staff were quite nice and the ambiance is pleasant. BUT, the food fell way short of our expectations. Next to no taste (except the chips). We tried the guacamole, which was watery and had next to no taste, and the salsa which was insipid. My wife went with a mole, that was absent chocolate and any other herb, spice, or taste. I had a squash dish that gave new meaning to the word insipid as well as being watery. I will say the beans had some flavor, so I did eat rice and beans and left a lot of food. (No doggy bags when you wouldn't bother feeding the food to your pet. ) What a disappointment. But, I did have their coffee, and that was quite good. An icon! When visiting Tucson for a week, my wife and I decided to eat here and their sister restaurant (La Chaiteris) 3 times! Not only is this the best vegan/vegetarian food I have had in a very long time, it is some of the best Mexican food you can find in the US! They often banch out in different styles, but their Mexican cuisine is so lovely. Between the few times that my wife and I ate there, the highlight was absolutely the vegan tamales. So incredibly unique, rich and flavorful I will be dreaming about them for many months to come. With olives, jackfruit carnitas, jalapenos, your mind will be blown! There isn't a bad food item on the menu, and if you want to level up, add the Tumerico lemonade on the side. A fantastic combination of ginger turmeric and lemon to die for. Just really fresh and delicious. On a down note, I did grab a tres leches cake and that wasn't worth the cost or calories, so you can skip that. Tumerica is a little barebones no glare no ambiance to speak of. It kind of reminds me of a cafeteria in a nursing home. That being said the food is really good, especially for vegetarian food. My burrito was delicious and my friend liked the tika. I've eaten here a few times before and I thought I had written a review already. I don't think about coming here because it's outside my normal range. One thing it's nondescript, you can drive by and not notice it. I order the Frida khalo tostada and the carnita burrito and a pick me up juice. This was a to go order and even though we ate this hours later, the burrito was one of the best I ever had. I had jack fruit before and this was very similar to meat but much juicier. The Frida khalo tosado had such clean flavor, unfortunately since it was a to go order the tostada got soggy but flavor was still there. The pick me up felt so clean and healthy it was exactly what I needed after a long day. I grabbed a few green cilantro salsa which was unbelievably delicious I can drink this. I felt that the portion size is very generous for the price. The flavor in combination with the texture, I can see why this place is so popular! This little place is tucked into a small strip of shops down by the University of Arizona. I've actually driven by it quite a few times and never stopped. We finally decided to stop in and try it out. When we walked in someone greeted us and went over the menu items with us, they explained the difference between all of the tacos and told us all of the proteins were made from jackfruit. We both ordered the spicy taco plate. It was really good. We also added a couple of the Cuban tacos on the side. Both were good but the Al Pastor tacos were my favorite. They were nice and spicy. I went to an event here a while back, and this was my first real visit. I was with three others, and we all tried different dishes. We were immediately greeted when we walked in; there are such friendly people who work there. The person who took our order was friendly and helpful, even checking on the ingredients in the flan we were getting for one of our guests. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito, which was simply delicious. It had a delicious flour tortilla, eggs (tofu can be substituted), salsa, and potatoes, with greens, rice, and beans. I really ate more than I should have, but did save some leftovers, which were excellent the next day too. I tried the Jamaica, but thought it was too sweet for my taste, as did another companion. The other two enjoyed their Horchata though, so I might try that next time. Overall, we all enjoyed our meals, but one of the diners found the Ethiopian Plate to be too spicy hot. But came here for lunch and was first off surprised by the rating to review count ratio, and the many MANY awards of recognition on the wall as soon as you walk in! The staff was proactive in gauging we were first timers and offered a rundown of the menu and any recommendations they had.
