I'm only giving this one star because the food was not so bad. Otherwise this establishment was one of the worst I've been to in OBX. Not only were the employees rude, they were unclean and incompetent. After the employee finally got our order correct, she ran her fingers through her hair multiple times while preparing our food. We first visited Tullio's in 2004, and it's been a tradition every year. We were incredibly happy with everything back then, and just had an incredible breakfast again today (for 8 people!). Can't recommend Tullio's enough. My friend and I went here last year on vacation and made a point to come back, and we're so glad we did! We can only vouch for their incredible baked goods and breakfast sandwiches, but those blow us out of the water so I can only imagine the rest of their menu is equally as delicious! The wife and I have driven past this shop for a few years. Today we finally stopped in for breakfast. Being a New York City native, I have eaten a bagel or three. So I go with a egg bagel with egg and cheese. I was not disappointed. The wife picked a wheat everything with cream cheese. She was pleased. The selection of bagels, donuts, cookies, cakes, and Italian pastries were displayed wonderfully. All in all, we were very pleased with the service and the quality of the food. Tullio's has been a must for us during every visit to Duck, since the early days of climbing steps to the tiny corner location in Scarborough Faire. Many birthday cakes and cinnamon buns later, they are a favorite tradition. Love the breakfast and lunch sandwiches too - best BLT around. read more

Stopped here on a whim but it was a horrible experience start to finish. Stopped in at 6:20 on July 19th. Ordered 6 cupcakes. We saw the salty paws biscuits and asked about them. Simple question: "Are all of these the same flavor or are they mixed?" The answer I got from the girl at the register: " i guess so." Yup, that was the extent of the help. Then when checking out the girl adds $1.20 to my check as "fee." No description, no heads up, nothing. Was this a fee for using a CC? If so the M/C company should also be notified. It was 1.20 on a $25 check. Both employees looked like they were doing community service and wanted to be anywhere else. Got home to find the cupcakes were dry and not worth the money. This place wasn't worth the effort to turn the steering wheel. There are too many other good places around the area. read more

This is an amazing bakery in Duck and we are so happy to have found such a great place for bagels and baked goods at the beach. The bagels were given rave reviews by our family members from New England. Everyone is still talking about the key lime cake, pecan pie, and apple pie we got from Tulio's last Thanksgiving. On vacation here for our anniversary and stopped in for a few pieces of cake. Not a very big selection but we are a week past Labor Day, so I'd understand if they have a smaller selection in the off season. We had the chocolate cake with a chocolate mouse frosting. The cake part was not very good. It was dense and not very flavorful. Overall it was just okay. I did think it was on the very end of pricing. This place offers a wide variety of bakery items. The sandwiches are made fresh to order and always tasty. However, my most recent interaction was less that acceptable. My family has been visiting this establishment for many years. The long line is never a bother as we know what awaits us at the end! Great Food! But this year the service was terrible. Not one smiling face. Everyone seemed to be in a bad mood. The owner was extremely rude when questioned about the prices. They do not have any prices for any items listed anywhere in the bakery. So when you get to the register your total is a surprise. So my advice is that is you want to spend $75 on 4 breakfast sandwiches and have unhappy people serve you this is the place for you. But let me suggest a short drive into Nags Head for a breakfast that's half the price and the service is AMAZING! Not to mention the food is always delicious! Try Waveriders they are top notch!! I just picked up a raspberry cheesecake that looks awesome and tastes fantastic. Also picked up some danishes and of course no trip to Tullio's is complete without a cinnamon roll. It's funny I was just reading a few recent negative multiple reviews from obviously same party, about a cake that wasn't decorated to their liking but they accepted it anyway and evidently redecorated it. There was no follow up about if they enjoyed the cake or not? Sad how petty people can be. Peak season and over demanding tourist with vacation brain. Keep up the good work Tullio's !!! read more

One bite into the vanilla birthday cake purchased from Tullio's, all of my family simultaneously spit it back onto their plates. We would have been better off purchasing a cake from the grocery store Harris Teeter instead of this atrocious "bakery". Quotations around bakery, because the cake wasn't even baked. Been stopping here every year for the past 6 years and the quality just keeps going downhill. They need to post business hours on the door not just closed Tuesday. They also need to be friendlier. They've never been overly friendly but With Duck Donuts so close and the bakery at Harris Teeter they need to step it up. I was really wanting a cannoli but they had none. I settled for a chocolate cheesecake cupcake which wasn't cheesecake like at all. My husband had a chocolate chip cookie, My son got the black and white cookie and My daughter wanted the chocolate cake donut but he gave us a glazed with chocolate icing, didn't realize until we were down the road. Great small local business! Good sized portions of delicious desserts and bagels. We sampled the raspberry cheesecake, peanut butter cheesecake, everything bagel (huge!) and an orange flavored pastry shaped like a shell (delicious). My son had a small dog shaped gingerbread cookie that was very dry. Only complaints are that the employees behind the counter were very disorganized and not wearing gloves between handling food and handling money.
