I stumbled onto this bakery during my visit to OBX and it did not disappoint. For one, the owner was incredibly kind and gracious. Then I tried the cinnamon roll and it blew me away. This one was but far the best I've had in quite some time. I also picked up a few different cookies. Haven't tried them all but the chocolate chip cookie was awesome. Great location in the shopping center with wings and waveriders (fabulous place). We got a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting it was very very good! Cake was moist and not too over powering. New location will be wonderful when completely finished but that doesn't stop the goodies from being terrific. Bought a little bit of everything- brownies gooey and unique with Oreos crushed within. Very tasty! Banana pudding square, if your a sucker for this, like I am, it's not to be missed. Apple fritters, very very tasty, with just the right amount of apple, frosting, and crunchiness. Got two muffins, haven't tried them yet, but they sure look good . And finally, a "waffle cone" of cheesecake filling lined with chocolate. Yeah, I know as crazy as it sounds it is wonderful. I was short on time to find a place for pastries for a wedding, this bakery was recommended so I called, owner told me that I could place an order told her date of event and it was ok so I stopped looking around. Called back three days later for pricing and got the run around" I'm busy with orders, call you later' well later didn't come. Called the following day and now she says I can't do it I thought you said weddings on Monday! Come on who has a wedding on Monday! She says sorry not able to do it so now I'm up the crock! My adult children were looking for a cake for a surprise 30th wedding anniversary for us recently. They called several bakeries who were booked and could not take an order. Almost Heaven Bakery took the order for the party which was on a Tuesday night. When they drove an hour to pick up the cake, they discovered that the bakery was closed. They called the owner and she confirmed that they were closed but that they had come in to meet them to pick up the cake. The cake was beautiful and tasted incredible. If you haven't experienced the deliciousness of Almost Heaven Bakery goods, you need to! We have my best friend and her family here for the week. I ordered her cinnamon rolls, peach pie, key lime pie, and a variety of cupcakes. Everything has been a hit. One of the teenagers said "These cinnamon rolls taste just like grams." The peach pie is my best friend's favorite, and she commented it was one of the most favorable she had ever had. I asked the bakery to decorate the cupcakes for July 4th and they were adorable with American flags, red/white/blue sprinkles, lady Liberty, etc. In short, everyone from 7 to 70 years old has appreciated and enjoyed the treats from Almost Heaven Bakery. We were in need of some cupcakes last minute for my son's 1st birthday and Melinda not only got back to me immediately but gave great reccomendations on flavors! We ordered key lime crunch, lemon and decadent chocolate peanut butter! AMAZING! She accomodated our special request and surprised us with the most beautiful decorations on the cupcakes! I'll gladly forward you the email chain that ended up with a phone conversation at 10pm on a Wednesday night with Melinda blasting me and my (now) wife because she's too incompetent to manage her business. I used Almost Heaven Bakery for my wedding back in August 2018. I still wake up from drooling over their delicious cakes and confections on a regular basis. We met Melinda at a bridal show in Pirates Cove, that's when I tried my first taste of key lime cake. Oh my goodness, SO FREAKING GOOD! We signed a check then and there and set a date for a tasting/planning appointment. At this appointment, Melinda and her daughter were so easy and fun to talk to. It was honestly one of the most fun days I had in planning my wedding. We went with key lime cake in two tiers, and they helped us choose chocolate and almond for the other two layers (gotta please the less adventurous guests). Our cake looked absolutely beautiful, tasted amazing, and I couldn't ask for anything more. Except I did. One year later I asked Melanie if she would be able to make me an identical cake topper for our first wedding anniversary. I'm not embarrassed at all to say my husband and I shared this cake with no one.
