The food is noteworthy due to hand breading and frying. Nothing came out of a premade bag. The ambiance and decor were over the top and appreciated. The staff were quick and efficient. My coworker recommended this place for fish. You place your order at the front, you pay up front and you find a seat. The place is efficient, I didn't wait 5min before my order came out. I ordered the fried platter that had everything...fried shrimp, fried oysters, fries scallops, and a my choice of fried catfish (over cod), over a bed of fries. It was...a lot. Free refills on fountain drinks. Parking lot is small. They have about eight tables of four inside to dine in, but a couple of folks did take out. They even have sushi rolls available. I sadly didn't take any pictures but I went around 1pm, me and my husband went when we were walking up he judged the outside of the place but the ambiance inside is beautiful, they have a little fountain and free water with amazing tater sauce. He had the fish and scallops and I had the two catfish cambo, He really enjoyed his fish and scallops, I will say the catfish is really filling. I did love the taste however, very light fish and the breading of it was great. The waiter was the owner I think. He was amazing asking if we need refills and I saw him helping other customers, being so nice and helpful. He even gave me a to go raspberry tea for free. The first visit was the best the food was delicious, cod, fries, had flavor and not dry. The cook did a great job. Second and third visit was horrible, not the same cook. Fish, cod, overcooked/dry, the fish batter had no taste. The fries tasted like the fish possibly cooked in same old oil, disgusting. No matter how much tartar sauce or lemon juice I dumped the fish in it still didn't help. I had to force myself to eat it. I did notice it was mama-san cooking the orders. Very disappointing. Fish and chips made using panko breading creates an extra crispy coating. A place to get your sushi on as well as dumplings. The service was great as she came around refilling our waters even though it was a do it your station. It was cozy sitting in the old fashioned wooden chairs. One of my FAVORITE restaurants in El Paso. The lady that is always working goes out of her way to make sure you have an enjoyable experience every time. I went with a group of nine people this evening. When we entered the very nice lady rearranged all the tables for us. I was very thankful the menu explains all the sushi options. I hate when I go to Sushi restaurants and have to guess what's on the rolls. We ordered 2 sushi rolls, the Mexican Orgasm and the Philadelphia Roll. The MO was very good with a spicy kick and the Philly was very traditional. I have yet to be unimpressed there with the sushi. My family also ordered the 8 and 8. Eight catfish and eight chicken. This came with a huge basket of fries. We added on a vegetable combo and drinks. I love that unsweetened tea and pop has free refills. Anymore that is becoming harder to find. The lady made sure we had all the sauces we need and more, even though it's not a traditional waitress type restaurant. We always order too much but never leave disappointed. My goodness. Y'all... don't sleep on this hidden gem. I absolutely love their menu selection. We had 2 pc catfish combo and a Las Vegas roll plus some prawns. Everything exceeded my expectations. The flavor, freshness, and price are great. They have such a large sushi selection plus fried fish. The breading on the fish is not greasy (like that famous chain) it's so crunchy and has great flavor. Their tartar sauce is also different but in a good way. They have fried desserts too but I had no room and I'm seriously sad about that. Come give them a try you won't be disappointed. It's not often I give 5 stars, honestly I'd give more if I could. They take apple pay, google pay, credit and debit and of course good ole cash money. Tugboat is hands down my favorite fish n chips place! The original location I went to was in California. Couple years ago I found out there was one here and my heart was so full! Located in far east right off dyer small little place but such huge delicious tastes!! They offer sushi options made right in front of you. You can basically create any food plate you want. Meaning as many pieces of fish you want. Honestly it's the tartar sauce for me! It's my absolute favorite and I always buy a cup to go. The inside is so uniquely designed like the inside of a boat. The staff is always friendly. The food always prepared quickly and always so amazing!! It's like a taste of home for me. TugBoat did it again! They consistently serve great fish and chips. I placed a large order for a luncheon. Note, you must pay in advance before they will make it. I went there, placed the order and came back to pick it up. The staff (who are picky) loved it!! The cod fish pieces are a foot long, so I cut them in half and the staff ate it all. I also got one dozen fried shrimp, I should've gotten at least 2 dozen. Fed everyone 10-12 staff members for around $65 So worth it!! I love this place read more

Perhaps something happened since the last review about three months ago. Food lacked flavors to say the least IMHO. I was desperately wanting to like this place since it's located very near to where I live, and I like fried food especially seafood (I really shouldn't eat fried food, but hey I don't do it every day). Past reviews sounded very promising to me, so I went. To their credit interior ambiance was very nice as I waited for my take-out orders. Nautical themed decor was well fitting for the type of food they serve. In particular, there was an indoor water fountain (photo) that provided very soothing water sound enhancing the ambiance. There's something to be said about the sound of water which gives a very calming effect at least to me. The nice girl told me on the phone there are now seating for seven (7) for dining-in when I called to inquire about their business hours. Food -- I decided to order a fish and calamari & chips combination plate. Unfortunately, it totally lacked wow factor for me. Fish (cod?) fillet was decently sized, but lacked flavoring. Calamari was a total disappointment. There was definitely significantly more batter than calamari itself and lacked flavoring. I could not detect any taste from calamari. They offer variety of rolled sushi. Perhaps I may come back and try some of those. But again, this is a "fast food" fish & chips joint, so I don't expect them to be any better than supermarket boxed sushi, right? I'm glad for folks who had much better experiences evidenced in 5-star reviews in the past. As for me, it's going to be a long while before I have to come back here if ever...too bad for me. Don't let the outside fool you. The food here is surprisingly fresh and crispy. Fish fillet portions are plentiful. Definitely going to be my go to spot for fried seafood. Didn't try the sushi but the selection looks good. Hands down way better than the "national fried fish chain." Can't believe I'm barely getting to know about this place. This place is a hidden gem! I was skeptical to try seafood and sushi in El Paso but this place surprised me! My brother ordered the catfish and it was delicious! My dad ordered the fried shrimp and that was good as well. I ordered the Dragon Roll and it was delicious!! I'm avoiding fried food so it was great to find a place that offered healthy options! Nice to have something other than Mexican food now and then and a perfect spot for a meal during lent if you observe the season. I stopped by just to try it, so I got the one piece fish and chips. The fish was flaky and tender with a light crispy batter. It was lacking salt but with the tangy tarter sauce it was quite delicious. The fries were very hot, crispy, but since I was drive through I missed out on the traditional vinegar topping that makes it London style. Overall pretty good and I would return when I'm in the mood, but hopefully it won't be covid times anymore so I can enjoy dining inside. read more

They offer sushi as well and you can see it being made from the counter. The drive through is quite a wait only because they make food upon ordering. It's very simple yet appealing food and menu. The prices are a on the higher end, not what I expected. A order of 4 pieces of catfish, a chefs special sushi and a medium coke with cost you about $30. Mind you the chefs special is only 5 regular pieces of sushi, yet it's $10.99? A full roll of sushi at other restaurant doesn't even cost that. It's a bit overpriced if you ask me.
