Out for our annual tour of the New River Gouge and fall color and dawn was just breaking in East Beckley, My friend and I were both getting hungry and decided on getting something to eat to satisfy the hunger and to kill some time for the sun to get higher into the sky. First places we tried were in Princeton at Cracker Barrel and Bob Evan's. It was 6:30am and one of the Cracker Barrel employees who was reporting to work, told us they did not open till 7am. Same with Bob Evans Drove on up toward Beckley where we had planned on leaving I-77 and going down I-64 a bit and cutting over on US19 to Hwy 41. Last trip up last year, I had eaten at Tudor's Biscuit World in Charleston and knew there as was one here so we gave it a shot. First of all, the were open a lot earlier so when we pulled in they were open. I ordered the Politician Biscuit which was Bologna, Fried Egg and Cheese on a Biscuit. Excellent choice. My friend went with the Sausage Gravy Biscuits and they were great. Portions were very large, prices very reasonable, quality of the food was great and only negative point was that the Covid restrictions did make it a bit awkward. Good restaurant and we went one exit beyond our original intended Exit on I-64 but I would put up with that aggravation again to experience that dining pleasure again. Color of the leaves as the sun came out from the Parking lot was amazing.

A great stop! Connected to a gas station so you can fill up and get some basics, too. Great biscuits, really crisp hash browns. You order up at a counter, but there are tables and even booths. High chairs are available. Servers were friendly and helped us figure out what to order to avoid allergens. We all enjoyed our meals, mostly biscuit sandwiches for a late breakfast, but the lunch menu looked good, too. Shaved ham, fried baloney, and chicken fried steak were all hits, plus the prices are great. It was cash only while we were there, but there's an ATM at the gas station a few steps away. The cheese is American cheese, so if like me that's not your favorite, skip it. The rest is all yummy and great. At the end of our meal, we didn't totally understand whether it was a bus your own table type situation or whether the servers cleared it, since it's counter service but there are also booths and some metal silverware, etc. From watching others, it looks like you can kind of go either way but be sure to tip your servers if you leave your stuff on the table. *Only drawback was a sketchy young man skulking about the parking lot for a kind of long time, but that's no fault of the nice servers here, and we felt safe. Just lock your doors and have a great meal. Hopefully he's not there often.

The best Tudor's Biscuit World that I've ever been to. Fastest service. Friendliest service. Clean facilities.

We were seated immediately on a Friday at around 1pm. I love their vegetarian options but this is a place that assumes if you are a vegetarian, that you like and must have onions and mushrooms in every meal. I couldn't find much other than pancakes/pastries/sweet shit that didn't have onions and mushrooms but fortunately, they were able to accommodate my request for the tofu scramble without onions or mushrooms. GF ordered the vegetarian quesadilla with, you guessed it, onions and mushrooms (among other things). My tofu scramble was good but calling it a scramble is slightly misleading as it is actually tofu cubes albeit very crispy and tasty tofu cubes. This dish was probably potatoes. A few spinach leaves and maybe 1/100th of a pepper. I will concede to the fact that some of that volume might have been taken up by mushrooms and onions. The dish was very good regardless and the accompanying salsa added a really nice extra je ne sais quoi. I also really like the pay first and then leave whenever you want model to avoid being held hostage to bad service not to say that they would've provided bad service but it is a risk anywhere. Regarding GF's quesadilla which I did not have the pleasure of sampling bc of onions of mushrooms "I thought it was decent". When I asked if she had any details or specifics to add, she replied, "no".

If you navigate from the Visitor's Center, it is conveniently located like 5 minutes away. Parking is very limited, but like others have said, if you wait a few minutes, someone will leave. We ate inside because I wanted to look at all the pictures and stuff on the walls. Stormy was an amazing server. She attended to our every need, and helped us with directions to where we were going. We both had the brisket sandwich, and I can't say enough about this brisket. Perfectly smoked, moist on the inside, and the PERFECT amount of crisp char on the outside to give it a little crunch. It's topped in battered onions. My hubby had a side of the Mac and cheese with his, and I was jealous that I didn't get any. It looked perfectly gooey and incredibly cheesy! If I could do more than five stars I would!

Service up front at the hostess was efficient and seated immediately with menus. Our waitress came by for drink orders which both got waters. After ordering a few minutes later still no water. The waitress was very pleasant and smiled which I loved the attitude, I could see our waitress took orders, bussed tables and later found out prepped salads. So no surprise the waters took around ten minutes. We thought bread would hit the table before, but we did not ask. My salad came out quickly and was very good. Our food came out after around 30 minutes. My wife's grilled chicken strips and mashed potatoes looked great and she confirmed it was. My Smokehouse grilled chicken however was awful and obviously not prepared correctly. The tomatoes side also awful. The okra was not something I even ordered or liked. The waitress could not be found for around ten minutes, then she did a table check. She then acknowledged it was not prepared correctly. I told her I needed to leave and she asked for a minute to talk to the manager and took the plate. Once she returned there was an apology and gift card for another visit. The manager also comped the meal. I felt it was handled properly, but left hungry. I'm at a 2.5 and rounding up with one meal correct and good. Also although the service was slow they were woefully understaffed.
