Out for our annual tour of the New River Gouge and fall color and dawn was just breaking in East Beckley, My friend and I were both getting hungry and decided on getting something to eat to satisfy the hunger and to kill some time for the sun to get higher into the sky. First places we tried were in Princeton at Cracker Barrel and Bob Evan's. It was 6:30am and one of the Cracker Barrel employees who was reporting to work, told us they did not open till 7am. Same with Bob Evans Drove on up toward Beckley where we had planned on leaving I-77 and going down I-64 a bit and cutting over on US19 to Hwy 41. Last trip up last year, I had eaten at Tudor's Biscuit World in Charleston and knew there as was one here so we gave it a shot. First of all, the were open a lot earlier so when we pulled in they were open. I ordered the Politician Biscuit which was Bologna, Fried Egg and Cheese on a Biscuit. Excellent choice. My friend went with the Sausage Gravy Biscuits and they were great. Portions were very large, prices very reasonable, quality of the food was great and only negative point was that the Covid restrictions did make it a bit awkward. Good restaurant and we went one exit beyond our original intended Exit on I-64 but I would put up with that aggravation again to experience that dining pleasure again. Color of the leaves as the sun came out from the Parking lot was amazing.

A great stop! Connected to a gas station so you can fill up and get some basics, too. Great biscuits, really crisp hash browns. You order up at a counter, but there are tables and even booths. High chairs are available. Servers were friendly and helped us figure out what to order to avoid allergens. We all enjoyed our meals, mostly biscuit sandwiches for a late breakfast, but the lunch menu looked good, too. Shaved ham, fried baloney, and chicken fried steak were all hits, plus the prices are great. It was cash only while we were there, but there's an ATM at the gas station a few steps away. The cheese is American cheese, so if like me that's not your favorite, skip it. The rest is all yummy and great. At the end of our meal, we didn't totally understand whether it was a bus your own table type situation or whether the servers cleared it, since it's counter service but there are also booths and some metal silverware, etc. From watching others, it looks like you can kind of go either way but be sure to tip your servers if you leave your stuff on the table. *Only drawback was a sketchy young man skulking about the parking lot for a kind of long time, but that's no fault of the nice servers here, and we felt safe. Just lock your doors and have a great meal. Hopefully he's not there often.

The best Tudor's Biscuit World that I've ever been to. Fastest service. Friendliest service. Clean facilities.

Decided to try it because we try to avoid chain restaurants. OMG. So glad we did. Wanted spaghetti until I saw their Pizza. So ordered pizza which was delicious. Thin crust and cheesy. Then I saw spaghetti so had to order side dish. Best spaghetti sauce. Nice and meaty. Topped it all off with Italian wedding soup. The service was awesome. Everyone friendly and attentive. Misty was our server. She was so good and sweet. She probably thought we were crazy when we kept adding to our order. She always had a smile and patience. Would highly recommend this place. It was spicy marinara sauce, shrimp and spaghetti. I asked for xtra sauce because many places don't put enough on. While I was waiting I looked around and had wished I ordered a pizza. That was the best looking pizza I've seen in forever. Loaded down with toppings. The sandwiches also looked good. When I received my salad it was very fresh and they were not stingy with the dressing. It was perfect. When my spaghetti came I loved the huge shrimp on it. My only problem was the xtra sauce. Totally my fault I asked for it not realizing this restaurant was different. There was so much sauce it was watery. Like I said my fault. So don't order extra sauce. When I am back in the area I am definitely going to come back and try the pizza

If you ever find yourself drifting through Beckley and your stomach starts whispering sweet…read morenothings... make a hard left into Cheddars Gastro Pub. This place is a bit of a delightful plot twist. From the outside, you might expect the usual--but step inside and suddenly you're in a cozy little universe where the cocktails are dangerously good (and somehow still kind to your wallet), the bar feels like home base, and the food? Way more scratch-made magic than you'd ever guess. And let's talk about Amy. If hospitality were an Olympic sport, she'd have a gold medal and a signature cocktail named after her. Attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it--just pure, effortless excellence. Whether you're a road warrior passing through or a local in need of a reliable good time, Cheddars delivers that rare combo: great vibe, great food, zero regrets. Go hungry. Leave happy. Possibly stay for one more round than you planned.

My husband ordered the Monte Cristo because he was craving sweet and savory and of course I sampled some for myself. The jam was fantastic! I had the Dijon chicken with broccoli cheese casserole and it was like eating at my grandma's house. Everything was delish and the prices here are so good. I also love that they give you a buttery croissant instead of a dry roll or biscuit. It elevates the meal while still keeping that homemade vibe.

Say to come in 5 min for pick up. Inside, no order, so I reorder again. Leave, go to car, order all wrong. Go back inside so annoyed, the Mgr is awful. Does. Not. Care. Gives me the lettuce tomat in a container, no mayo, take a packet. Doesn't care, said I am just one customer and I don't matter in the grand scheme. Horrible all around. I fed sub to my 2 dogs. What a really bad experience. Don't go to this place at all. So, so very bad! The owners need to see how these 4-6 guys operate when they are not around. If my business, all fired. Hire good people and pay them a few bucks more so they will care. Ppl go back to places when treated right. 0 stars.
