He said it won't be a problem and we'd definitely be able to come rent karts. I called and left a voice mail the day before to ensure it was a go and got no reply. We showed up the day of at 3:30 pm and they said sorry there's no go kart racing tonight, there is an event for moto cross. We just left. It sucked. I talked to a guy that had no idea where the manager was and didn't know we were coming. They didn't offer us anything for the inconvenience. Wasted an hour of our night driving out there and back and finding a new place to go.

It's a dirt oval track with the pit and exit to the center/in-field leading you out the side. Ultimately, I think it's a great design. The grandstands are in good condition, too. Although a little cold, it's more comfortable here than Alaska, and other racetracks I've been to. Overall, this was a nice track and I hope they are able to keep it open so I can keep on coming. Note: -food available -accessories/attire available (they take cards but internet is slow and sometimes has trouble going through so have $$$ as back up) -no ear plugs or noise blockers so come prepared!

Our family enjoyed motoring around the historic districts, Rattlesnake Bridge and University (dodging students hurrying to class), on the "Shake, Rattle and Roll" tour. We learned lots of interesting facts about Tucson, and even though we love walking, we had to admit we covered a lot more territory this way and were able to save our energy for an afternoon hike in the canyons. At $70 per person for a 2+ hour tour, it's worth it. Kids must be at least 16.

We did the "Shake, Rattle & Roll" tour where they take you on a tour through the historic 4th avenue district, the iron horse district, the rattlesnake bridge, the pie allen district and the west university district, all on a segway! This is a family owned business and our tour guide, Denise, was very nice! She gave a short instruction on how to operate the segway and explained some do's and don'ts to us. She was also very accommodating with our schedule. You also get a shake at the end of the tour, but since I'm lactose intolerant, they gave us ice cream instead (i can't drink milk but i can eat ice cream and cheese...weird, i know)! =)

They focus on luxury vehicles, mini vehicles, and vehicles featured in movies or TV shows. A highlight was seeing the Batmobile from the 1966 TV shows that I grew up watching. You can even "adopt" a vehicle for 1 year by giving a tax deductible donation to the museum. They also have a special events room that you can rent for an event. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Truly a Tucson classic. This is a great place to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon during the…read moremonths of February and March. They usually do about 8 races, every 30 minutes, and there's plenty to do between race time. They generally will have a pretty large selection of food trucks available or you can eat from their in-house restaurant underneath the grandstand. This past weekend, they also had a live mariachi band and you can also wander over to the stables to see the horses. And, apart from the casinos, this is one of the few places where you can actually do some real betting. Check it out at least once, you'll enjoy it. Pro tip: Make sure you pick up a program to get into on the odds without having to stand around and read the boards.

My friends and I have made this an annual tradition (lol, 2 years. I can call that a tradition, right?) and it's a great day in the sun screaming and yelling for horses we know nothing about. Pick 'em however you want: jockey/horse bright colors, horse name, pretty horse, cute jockey or god forbid stats, then go place your bet, grab a beer and stand trackside for your race. $5 general admission, $4 beer, margaritas, hotdogs/nachos/etc and you're set. You could pay a few bucks more to sit in the upstairs, indoors section but then you'd miss all the fun. You'll see all kinds of people from old white guys chewing a toothpick and studying the program and cheatsheets to families out for the day to girls dressed to impress in heels and sundresses. Do yourself a favor and ignore those along the interior road charging $5 for covered parking in the adjacent business park and just park in the track's dirt lot for free. Come to Rillito, have fun, have a beverage in the sun and get excited about your $6.20 quinella box winnings!!

Upon arrival, we checked in and were paired with a horse. I had the pleasure of riding Gunsmoke. After a brief tutorial (left, right, stop, and go), we were ready to ride off into the sunset. Parts of the terrain were a bit rocky, which was a little intimidating, but Gunsmoke was able to navigate without any difficulty. Our guide was friendly and attentive. We were quickly given an easy 1-2-3 of steering and handling the horse. I had the pleasure of riding atop of Romeo. The staff were pretty reserved and friendly. The ride was about 1.5 hours long thru a desert path. It was amazing to see the horses navigate in incline and descent rocky terrain. They would halt or slow down walking until they got good footing. Depending on the weather bringing sun shades, water, mask for dusk, proper attire would be recommended. However, I was not fully prepared. With that being said I still was ok without and had an amazing time anyway.

We recently had the most wonderful trail riding experience at Rockin' Star Ranch with family…read moreranging in age from 2 to 72, and every single person had a fantastic time! The horses were thoughtfully matched to each rider's size and experience level, and it was clear how well cared for and well-trained they all are. The guides were absolutely phenomenal -- not only friendly and professional but they went above and beyond, even riding backwards at times to capture incredible photos and videos for us! As someone who tends to be nervous around horses, I was given the most patient, gentle, and intuitive horse, which made the entire experience enjoyable and safe. When my 2-year-old decided he had to ride with Mama AFTER everyone was saddled up, they went out of their way to help us rearrange and make it happen -- and I still felt safe and confident holding him, which speaks volumes about both the horses and the staff. We've been to Rockin' Star Ranch a few times over the years, and it's always been a special place for our family. In fact, our now 12-year-old once rode the same sweet pony on a lead ride that our 2-year-old recently did -- a true testament to the love, care, and longevity they provide for their animals. Every single interaction we've had with their staff has been warm, professional, and full of kindness and patience. They are always happy to teach, answer questions, and help everyone -- from total beginners to more experienced riders -- feel welcome and confident. After an extremely disappointing ride in Benson, with horses that could barely move I was beyond…read morefrustrated... and having only one day to myself in AZ while on a work trip I was feeling down. I called a bunch of places, and this one answered. Oh my word, this was exactly what I needed! Chris is an incredible, experienced, and funny guide, and the ride was FUN. He even took videos and photos and shared them after the ride. I lost my keys, and he helped me find them at the end of the ride, which was extra time and effort. Iris and Stormy are awesome horses, Stormy helped with finding the keys. I would say this is the single best trail ride I've ever done, and I ride A LOT but usually have a "no trail" rule--most trail rides are a snoozefest experience, and I would straight out recommend lessons with a trainer instead. Chris' place does fun trail rides, lessons, parties, you name it.... And such great horses. Can't recommend them enough!
