    Couple of dragsters

"If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough." ~ Mario Andretti I've become somewhat addicted to racing of all sorts lately. There's just something to be said about fast cars, the intoxicating aroma of fuel and burnt rubber, the adrenaline, the excitement and the NEED FOR SPEED. Having never been to a drag strip, I had no expectations other than to have a good time. And a good time was definitely had!! Like I mentioned, this is all brand new to me so I can't tell you much about track length, staging lanes, condition of the strip, etc so all I can do is tell you that if you go, you'll have a blast! We saw all kinds of vehicles - souped up muscle cars, trucks, those long pointy dragsters, even a motorcycle - hitting the strip and making their timed runs; some even breaking the 200 MPH barrier. When the motorcycle hit 199 MPH, it was like a rocket. I was in complete amazement. The parking is plentiful, the security and staff friendly, there are bleachers for seating, food vendors and adult beverages. We lucked out on Saturday because there was so much going on: meet and greet, hot track, dragway reunion, Hall of Fame induction and the coolest thing ever....a nitrous blast. They lined up over a dozen of the cars that run nitrous, fired 'em all up at the same time right along the fence line in front of the grandstands and then started pumping nitrous through them so flames would shoot out of the headers. AMAZING. If you're looking for a cheap, fun night, give Tucson Dragway a try. They just signed a 14 year lease and will hopefully bring some of the big boys in for some special show.

I went to the drag races today and it was a total gas! The combination of engines roaring and tires squealing along with the smell of racing fuel exhaust and burning rubber was intoxicating. The ground pounding vibrations of extreme horsepower moved right through my body. It was hot and sunny so I got a chocolate milk shake at the "Coffee 2 Cones" stand for $5. It was frosty, creamy and refreshing! There were lots of fascinating fast cars of every kind to watch. I really enjoyed seeing this spectacle and recommend it to all fellow motorheads. Don't forget ear plugs and sunscreen!

    We are trying it again

Wow great..lunch too..delish. Wonderful coach, his driving explanations were spot on...I really…read moredug the ground school. My 1/2 day package I got 4 sessions on track driving my car + 1 session in the middle of those, in his car watching and listening...He's great and calm too. So happy I got to do this. It was a holiday gift from the dog rescue shelter I volunteer at/for..in the area. They bid on it as a fund raiser auction with a dog food 'bank' the dog rescue gets much of the dog foods at...in Tucson... I cannot say enough good things, the entire staff was sharp kind and helpful. you HAVE to go..

Air-conditioned observation lounge with leather sofas, a water-bottle fridge, a soda fridge, and 360° views is awesome. Shaded outside observation deck is also awesome. However, what sets Inde aside is the sheer customer-service and customer-pleasing and professional attitude of the working staff. From John Mabry, Track/Facility Manager, to Chachi who greeted us, took lunch orders, remembered who everyone was, and then made the lunches to spec, to Jason who came to let us know the timing for separation of Closed-Wheel, Open-Wheel, and Bike categories once the latter two showed up -- EVERYONE was top-notch perfect. This wasn't the first time. I've seen John frustrated at on-track action, off-track delays, etc. and he's ALWAYS willing to smile and answer a question or discuss what's going on. This outing was a group of our employees and their +1s. We got to introduce new people to on-track driving, let seasoned veterans do their thing, enjoy a fabulous lunch, and be treated like VIPs. Even the huge monitors said "Welcome" with our group name. These "little details" are what set Inde from the "golf club" analogy, or the "private dining room" in a restaurant, or the "ballroom wedding party" at a hotel. Truly this is a class act, and owner Graham Dorland should be proud of these people for their perfection. Ehud Gavron Tucson AZ P.S. If I'm willing to wake up early on Fathers' Day Sunday and drive two hours... and two hours back... you better believe it's WELL WORTH IT!!
