This is a great place to get some ice cream, especially if you have kids. Tucker's has so many different variations of ice cream: sundaes, shakes, sodas, swirlies, chillers, slushies, glaciers, shave ice, floats and more. The menu is large an a little overwhelming. But if you're looking for "the thing" that Tucker's is famous for, order an animal cone, which is a soft serve cone with a candy face on it. We didn't see animals cones on the menu until after we ordered, but I looked at pictures online, and they look adorable. What we did order was a cupcake milkshake (super sweet), a chocolate sundae (great), a cappuccino ice cream (it was fine) and a Dole Whip (which turned out to be pineapple-flavored soft serve, and not the vanilla ice cream with pineapple juice concoction that I'm used to). Everything we got was tasty and fun for the most part, but what makes Tucker's really cool is the outdoor seating. There are lots of tables and benches in the purple-and-green outdoor patio. Yesterday, after spending the day at a local theme park my partner and I stopped by the Mason Whippy Dip for our first visit. This business proves that young people can and will provide a truly professional and FRIENDLY experience in a food-service setting if given the proper training and expectations. Tucker's is Mason's best ice cream place. It has most of the usual selection. They have soft serve ice cream, hot food, and slushies. It's right in the main area of downtown. They are still cash only. It gets to be one of the busiest places in the warmer months. It's in the area to the north of the library. There's a small parking lot but there's plenty of street parking. Additionally it has a drive thru if you're in a hurry. They can get backed up so it's not always a timesaver. I had a blue raspberry slushie to help me cool off. This is about $2 for the medium size. It has limited flavors but what they have is good. All you need to bring is cash. They haven't gotten with modern times. read more

Food: I've tried a few things on the menu, and have been really impressed. Great quality soft serve, and the portions are generous without being glutenous at reasonable prices. Service: Drive through lines can be a little slow, but there's one window to pay and receive your icecream. It's to be expected, and you are always greeted with a smile. Credit card adds a 50 cent surcharge to your total. Otherwise, bring cash. Facilities: There are some outdoor tables that are currently removed due to COVID. There is a drive through and a walk up window. Parking lot/drive through is a little rough, with some pot holes, but it's functional. read more

Perfect for a little walk up ice cream shop. For ice cream cones you have a choice of vanilla, chocolate or the flavor of the week which was raspberry. You can get it dipped in a few different flavors, with sprinkles or nuts, with gummies, as candy animals, and possibly other options. We each ordered a cone. What a fun little place! Fantastic customer service - cannot say enough good things about the kids who worked there. They were SLAMMED but we're courteous and helpful to everyone! Bravo! A really great place for soft serve ice cream. Family atmosphere and quick service. Prices are really reasonable and the serving sizes are way more than you need. We get the small size vanilla mixer with one ingredient and it fills us up and then some. Parking is a bit hard to find on busy evenings/ weekends. You can use the Parking lot across the street behind the diner but you either have to navigate the crosswalk or risk a hasty run through traffic on 42. Drive thru is another option. We never use it cause the driver can't eat and drive at the same time. read more

As a Mason resident, Whippy Dip is the only place to get ice cream (I guess Graeter's is acceptable too...). Why? Because Whippy Dip is sooooo inexpensive and so fun! Every worker there goes to Mason High School, and it gives it this really wonderful summer vacation vibe that feels perfect when you're eating a giant soft serve. Unfortunately, I could feel myself aging as I went back every summer knowing fewer and fewer of the workers. Whippy Dip has great ice cream options--frozen bananas, cheesecake bits, wow cows, frozen cappucinos--and best of all, they make animals! You can literally request anything you want and the worker will do their best ice cream artistic interpretation of your request--my go-to is either a unicorn or an octopus. Basically, the staff of high school kids will try their best to make anything you want, just don't be a diva about it (because probably a little league team will be impatiently waiting behind you). Tucker's Whippy Dip was stop #2 on our summer tour of creamy whips. It's in "old" Mason just down the street from Wildflower Cafe. We decided to meet friends who lived right around the corner for a quick treat. A rare opportunity to hang with our suburban friends! Despite having a map in hand, we somehow managed to drive past it twice. Tucker's sits back from the road a bit and is tucked in closely beside a gas station and other retail. The space isn't anything special. Very white. A few outdoor picnic tables and bench seating. We shared the space with a team from a local soccer tournament, and it was pretty cramped. Tucker's has a decent selection of frozen treats, though maybe not as much as other places we visited later in our quest. The soft serve is good and priced pretty well. One important note. Tucker's is cash only! Our friends made this mistake, but luckily we had extra cash on us to lend. In the end, there was nothing special about our visit that made the drive to Mason a must. It's certainly somewhere to stop on a hot summer day if you happen to already be in the area. read more

The ice cream is bland! It just has no flavor. I assume they are injecting a lot of air to make the mix go further, but this creates a tasteless product. The Dairy Queen has more flavor, and that is saying a lot since they are low on my list! I had a hot fudge sundae and the hot fudge was even weak! My wife had a caramel sundae and I asked how hers was before I commented and she said, "extremely tasteless." I was amazed at the crowed size being so large for such bad ice cream, but a quick google search showed there isn't any competition. Sounds like a good opportunity for somebody!! read more

Completely average. The establishment is definitely more geared towards children and families, which is completely fine. However, I wouldn't be expecting anything great. It's really inconvenient that they only accept cash especially with how expensive their ice cream is. You're going to be paying close to Graeter's prices for this place. This is our family's favorite soft serve ice cream location. They will make your child (or you) an ice cream sundae that looks like any animal or character. My son typically asks for an obscure Pokémon of skylander character. The workers are usually happy to investigate the request on their phones and do their best to create it using ice cream, gummy worms, graham crackers and youthful creativity. My love of Whippy Dip runs deep. As a former Mason resident, and MHS graduate (go Comets), this was THE spot as a youngster. And, it seems like that hasn't changed much for the young Comet crowd. It can get pretty packed with families and youth soccer teams, which doesn't help with the parking situation -- which can be an issue in the steamy summer months. But, they've expanded the lot behind Little Rascals across the street, so it's not as limited as it used to be. You also have to get past the fact that it's cash-only, and just accept it for local delicacy that it is. As for the menu, I can't say I've ventured off the menu, but the Oreo Wow Cow Swirlie is legit. "What's Wow Cow," you ask? Only the best low cal ice cream option ever. Seriously, I cannot taste a difference between that and the regular soft serve, so don't even tell me that you can. Even though I've grown up and moved away from Comet Country, Whippy will always have a special place in my heart, and I may or may not make special trips to taste it in all its glory. read more

WELL WELL WELL. I TOOK A nice little trip to whippy dip last friday with my two sons, one daughter, and two wives of mine for a nice treat after Luke's baseball game as I am a father. I was being served by a young lady named Bruce. Very plain, very lovely. And behind my very nice interaction with Miss. Bruce was a man who was being downright belligerent. He was shouting on about swirleys and swirley money oh it was just heinous. Miss and I had to both bend over the counter and should in each other's ear to talk. It felt like the-- oh well I don't want to go into every detail of the interaction. The little rascal is going to bed and I will have to help with the bed sequence because I am a father and a 44 year old. Anyways, it was very strange. Very uncomfortable. Eventually my discomfort was quelled by some bomb ass ice cream that looked like Cuba Gooding Jr.. Overall. It was one of the most jarring and unsettling experiences of my adult life as I am an adult, however the name of this zoo sounds like the word a kindergartener teacher has to use in place of the actual swear words around her kids because she doesn't want them to hear that. So. a 5/5 as good as it gets down here in Mason Ohio which is where I live, I live in Ohio! read more

I really enjoy Whippy Dip! Anyone in this area knows that Whippy Dip has some nearby "rivals" with fiercely loyal supporters, but I think Whippy Dip holds its own against them. It is my personal favorite of the surrounding ice cream joints. Parking is a little cramped at the store itself, but I've seen people just park in the adjoining dry cleaners or across the street. You can also use the drive-thru here, which is always incredibly tempting as I drive past it on my way to I-71. The soft serve is as good as soft serve gets. I am a huge fan of the peanut butter cup sundae, which is what puts Whippy Dip above its competition for me. Bring cash, since they don't do credit card. I'm not sure why this is a big surprise to anyone -- most non-chain ice cream joints I've been to don't accept credit card for whatever reason. Unless I'm going to Graeters, I leave the CC at home and bring cash instead. The prices are comparable to other ice cream stands and there's usually a good crowd here, but I've never seen it -too- crowded like at their competition.
