Easily my favorite restaurant in the Upper Valley, Tuckerbox has friendly servers, a unique and delicious menu, a great wine list, and great ambiance. I have not had anything that wasn't fabulous on any visit. The dolmas are the best I've ever had. They recently expanded their dining room, making it easier to get a weekend table, although I typically make a reservation here. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the area. It's always busy, but definitely worth the wait if you don't get a reservation. The food is always so good. The Kunefe is a must for dessert!!! read more

Great place. My wife and I enjoyed an early dinner there at a sidewalk table. Food was delicious, and the staff was professional, approachable and laidback. Only four stars, not 5, because it is a bit pricey, taking their lead from overpriced Hanover. But up-and-coming White River Junction is not Hanover, which is mostly a good thing, so it's hard to justify the pricing. read more

Tried Tuckerbox the other day for the first time. I ordered a cappuccino and I have to say it is one of the better coffee's I have had in the upper valley. read more

Best cafe in the area. Pleasant atmosphere. Great service. Peak times are difficult because of size, yet service dead on and food/beverage consistent in taste and quantity. All standard cafe hot and cold beverages are spot on. read more

Great coffee and food. The egg sandwich is awesome. Usually pretty busy but is a nice spot to sit if you can catch a table.

I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich but there is virtually no pesto in this mayonnaise-laden chicken sandwich. When I inquired about the pesto, two staff members politely say the pesto is premixed in the mayonnaise and they would give me some extra pesto but none is available. In other words, tough luck! Most pesto sandwiches have traces of green from the basil but this one is all mayo and white. I would order other things on the menu. This one was a huge disappointment. read more

Tuckerbox - Pesto chicken sandwich with no pesto. A disappointment. - Coffee & Tea Near Me - White River Junction, Vermont

Outstanding !!! I am a 2nd generation American of Greek ancestors who has been fortunate to have traveled extensively in Greece and Constantinople (Istanbul ). Vural's Tuckerbox restaurant is right up there with the very, very best. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, reminiscent of a small old world village thaverna. The staff is extremely welcoming, competent and knowledgeable of their menu. Wine list is excellent, complementing the excellent dinner selections. You cannot go wrong !!! No matter which meal you choose. My Yia Yia ( Grandmother) and Mother were excellent cooks of traditional Mediterranean cuisine, the Chefs at Tuckerbox , could have taught them a trick or two. Leave room for the baklava made with maple syrup instead of honey. Very light, very, very, very good. Thank you Vural. Bon appetite . Harry D. Kouloheras read more

Everything about this place was amazing, our waiter gave us free olive leaves and the food is absolutely delicious, I love the diverse menu and they have really good swordfish. There is a wide variety of appetizers I highly recommend going here because it's one of my favorite restaurants out there. read more

Great restaurant. Super friendly owner. Only Mediterranean place in the area that I know of. Recently doubled in size. Looove the babaghonush!!!! read more

The food, delicious. Wonderful warm, cozy, friendly atmosphere. Perfect for a small group of friends to catch up over coffee. I have visited twice and both times found it difficult for myself and just one other person to find seating. It is usually quite busy which must mean something good! read more

I love Tuckerbox! Not maybe great restaurants in the upper valley, but this one is great. The vegetable guvech is my favorite and the atmosphere is great with friendly waitstaff. Thank you for livening up the upper valley, Tuckerbox! read more

Great food. Tuckerbox is my "go to" place. Owner is lovely, too. Highly recommended for fresh, authentic Turkish food.

We were in the area to attend a Bernie Sanders rally and weren't sure what we'd find for food choices. The only thing we saw on the way in was a Chinese buffet but we finally turned around and got to the downtown and were very surprised to find the Tuckerbox serving Turkish food. Very nice interior. Menu is great - we tried a platter with hummus, other yogurts, fresh bread, and grape leaves. Really delicious (albeit a bit overpriced for the amount of food). I had a Turkish coffee. I didn't realize those were so tiny. It was just okay. Our wraps were great. My friend had a falafel wrap and loved it while I went with lamb and it was tasty and filling. For dessert, we tried the maple baklava which was absolutely amazing. Our waiter was a bit overwhelmed and was slow to bring our bill and never checked on us but I think a bunch of people attending the rally had stopped in as there weren't many other food options. I'd definitely go back! read more

Tuckerbox is somewhere I would go to weekly if I could. Thankfully it is not on my way home so the reality is a bit harder. The food is amazing and I have always had great service when there. Another wonderful addition to the Upper Valley! read more

My previous update must have been on a bad night. We have been back many times since then, and it has been fine. So back to the original 5-star review. read more

Hurray for a good coffee shop! Food is so good, staff is friendly and the place is so WRJ!

Great food and quick service. Nice variety of seating options. Nice, trendy decor, and other attendees nice as well.

Amazing! I love the gluten free and veg options and my son loves the meats. The flavors are incredible! We've not been disappointed yet!

After reading the great reviews on yelp, my boyfriend and I decided to give Tuckerbox a try, and we had good expectations. Unfortunately we were rather disappointed. Both of our meals were rather salty, the service was slow, and everything was pretty overpriced for how it tasted. Definitely better places to eat in the upper valley. read more

Excellent- a hidden gem in a sleepy New England town. Wish it were in my town! Devoted family staff, delicious mixed grill, baklava and coffee. Won't disappoint! read more

Good god! Can this place be anymore perfect! Beer good, food great, coffee excellent!!! Owner recommend the Adana Kebab it was so delicious I did not leave a spec on my plate! And the hand crafted latte was perfect! I'm looking forward to going back! read more

Great coffee! Love coming here when I come home to visit my parents.

This place is my new favorite spot in the upper valley. My girlfriend and I started with the Mezze Platter which was delicious. I was lucky enough to go in when they were offering the tuna kebabs which were out of this world....They have a great wine list and good bottled beers. The coffee and teas are fresh and well made, great flavor. The almond pudding and the baklava were both so good. Everything about this place was 5/5 - service, food, atmosphere, price, location, etc. Overall Tuckerbox is a hidden gem that everyone should at least try once. Just make sure to call ahead because it books up extremely fast. read more

I've been to Tuckerbox several times over the last year, when I've taken the train to the White River Junction stop. Excellent restaurant. Dinner in the evening - great selection of food. The mezze platter and kebabs are both great, and love their turkish coffee. Coffeeshop and brunch / lunchspot during the day. Delicious and buttery pastries, and great turkish grilled cheese -- highly recommend trying. Friendly service, nice atmosphere - a great place to stop by after a train ride, or anytime! read more

This is always a good place to go because it is conveniently located across from the train station. The food is delicious as well as the desserts. Sometimes it can be a bit crowded on the weekends as a lot of other restaurants in town are not open or have a limited hours. Reid the waiter is very cute! When I leave there I feel refreshed. read more

Some of the food was amazing, but some not so much. Sandwiches advertised as having lettuce, tomato and onion from our multi-sandwich order had basically no condiments as advertised. Every time (4 times) I tried I too order a large Turkish tea, which was listed on the menu, the staff always told me it was too strong to give as a large order, and only gave me half a small order. Upon demanding a large order, they only gave me a full small order, despite the listing on their menu. We ordered a salad with cheese, which was $12, and only included green peppers, tomatoes, goat cheese, and olive oil. Way over priced for what it was. However their Turkish Meze Platter is too die for!!!! The platter is pricey, but totally worth it!!! read more

This is one of our family's absolute favorite places in the Upper Valley. The lamb, chicken, beef, seafood...all of it is delicious. The service has always been excellent and we've been there many times. My absolute favorite dessert is the Künefe. Out of this world! Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you won't be disappointed. read more

Great meal New Year's Eve. They never disappoint. We had the Haydari plate as an appetizer and the mixed grill kebab for dinner. The two of us split these items and left very satisfied. Best place in White River Jct, VT read more

I'm from a place where there are a lot of ethnic restaurants (and population density, which usually coincide). I have to laugh about my experience at this place because otherwise I'd just be sitting here out the price of a week's worth of groceries. We came with a party of 6 and our bill was about $300. This restaurant is both underwhelming and overpriced, but I do not think their meat is bad. It's THE only Turkish place in the area so they can charge whatever they want for whatever portions they see fit. The only thing that is unique or special about this place is that it's our new most least favorite restaurant. The octopus appetizer is delicious, amazing char. Here's the description on the menu: marinated, chargrilled octopus, roasted cauliflower & carrot, grilled onion & tomato topped with browned butter & herb sauce Yum! In reality it is one slice of tomato, two carrot coins, a ring of onion and four small florets of cauliflower. It's not something you could reasonably share unless you are with ok two very small bites of a $13 appetizer. The price of my dinner would have been amazing if it were a decent amount of food. My $17 meal was worth about $10 worth of food - 6oz. meat, 1/4c rice, 1/2c regular iceberg lettuce (greens.. ok...), a small portion of pickled onions and tzatziki. I guess I'm just confused, because the median income for this area doesn't seem so high that you can call iceberg lettuce "greens" and get away with it. The homefries looked really sad, but they were someone else's order so I didn't concern myself with them. The coffee was great! I loved my pinky fingernail-sized piece of turkish delight. One of the servers had no idea who ordered which meal, which is totally ok, we were a bigger party. What was super uncomfortable was the way "uh ok seriously can we hurry up please this dish is like, burning my hand" came out. I truly sympathize and I hope no one is ever hurting themselves to do a great job but there was pure cattiness in the comment. I had ordered a drink when we first sat down and didn't receive it until I inquired again (after everyone had their meal); but the waitress comped it. Honest mistake, no biggie! (Thank you!) One waitress was oblivious that she kept spilling water on my friend's arm every time she refilled glasses and the other seemed annoyed at our presence and party size from the very beginning (possibly, they were understaffed or something?) Reviewers seem to really enjoy this place but it's not even in the same league as good restaurants. They must be making bank. read more

Very disappointing. Stopped in once a few months ago, around 3:10 pm, people were still eating. Although restaurant advertises takeout, we were told that can be only during lunch or dinner hours, not at 3:10 pm. A rather dim, unsmiling, bored looking counter person delivered this news. This weekend returned to try again to get some takeout. We ended up with two "large" orders of a mezza plate. Hugely disappointing: $40 for a few soggy stuffed grape leaves, a big piece of undercooked bread and a few dabs of 3 different kinds of dipping sauce: one, the very spicy one, was actually good, the others (hummus and what seemed like tsatsiki) were ordinary at best. Again, the attitude from the same ( or a clone) counter person. No "thank you" or "Can we get you anything else?" It might be worthwhile and even interesting to try some of the other menu items, but with such an uninviting atmosphere and service, it's unlikely we'll bother. There are several good restaurants in this area and even more in Woodstock and Hanover. I see no point in wasting time and money on this one. read more

Love this place! Outdoor seating in the summer. Delicious everything from appetizer to coffee and desert.

If you are ever in or near White River Junction Vermont, you must go to this restaurant! The food was excellent....

Delicious vegetable stuffed eggplant, chicken shish kabab, and stuffed grape leaves. Food didn't feel too heavy, but was substantive. Portions are more than ample to split within a larger party. Turkish coffee and rice pudding were a great end to the wholesome meal. read more

Ugh the hipster stank is palpable at this place. Latte l ordered was pretty but really meh, and took about 15 minutes to come out. Service was really awful too, and the barista was really rude to my husband. Food looked really good but I don't think we will be back to try it. read more

This is the real deal, or at least as close as you can get in the Upper Valley. Leaves Dirt Cowboy, Rosey Jekes, and all other pretenders in the dust. Very good coffee/espresso (the barista today made an orchid out of the foam today). Best scones by far--if you like the drier/crispier kind vs. the cakey/doughey kind. My husband swears by their coffee cake (especially when warmed). Have also had BLT's, chicken salad, and other luncheon items there. Charming place with comfy sitting and communal table for reading the provided newspapers. Also, very nice staff. White River Junction is really a great up and coming town--a little piece of Seattle in the Upper Valley. read more
