Good food, bad service. I waited for 45 minutes for mashed potatoes. That's fine; it happens no big deal. But I had saved an entire plate of meat waiting for them to come out. Not the end of the world, but I was in a group of 12 people that were leaving. I asked a manager if I could bring the meat (that I paid $30 for) along with a single serving of mashed potatoes. They said they only allow boxes for the desserts they push on you to take home. I understand the rule, it's a buffet; you shouldn't be able to take food home but I feel like this would have been an understandable exception considering this was 100% their fault. Box it up in the back so no one sees; I don't care. But I'm not gonna make my party wait for 45 minutes for me to get mashed potatoes (how long does it take to make a mashed potatoes???), and then make them wait another 20 minutes to finish my mashed potatoes and ice cold meat. Tucanos is not a cheap restaurant; they shouldn't provide cheap service. I realize this all sounds petty but Tucanos in Orem clearly doesn't know how to manage their kitchen or serve their customers. This is our first time here. Yummy! There are so many choices and the place is 90% gluten free. Delicious bites of everything we tried. Even a chick heart! It was quite tasty. No really it was. Certainly not hungry at all. Started with the awesome salad bar. Skipped the side dishes and the lemon aide was to die for. We live in NY and these places are not near us. Some salads were definitely not fresh, but at least half were. They even had some sushi which wasn't terrible. The pasta bar was mediocre. Nothing glamorous. They also had some breads, shredded pork, fried bananas, soups, and potatoes. If you have a family with young kids I'd definitely recommend. My husband and I were really excited to come here. I got the Brazilian lemonade, it was good I liked strawberry the best. The salad bar is FULL of lots of foods. Make sure to try the Brazilian cheese bread, and the rice beans and farofa (all together). But warning.. Don't fill up on the salad bar. They bring around a lot of meat. I have always been a fan of Tucanos, but I really think they have stepped up their game in their new location in Orem. Me and a few friends went for dinner and it was a great experience. The atmosphere was great, the service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. One reason that Tucanos gets 5-stars in the bang for your buck here. There are certainly more upscale and high-end Brazilian Steakhouses, but Tucanos is the perfect blend of nice, but not too nice. My favorites of the night included the parmesan chicken. If I could give our experience 0 stars I would! Do NOT under any circumstances order takeout from this place! I just got out of the hospital and my uncle wanted to treat my family to a fine quality meal. The ordering process was simple but the rest of our experience was a complete disaster! We got the food home and discovered they had left off all the cold salads and desserts.... I called the manager and all she said was we forgot And we could come back and pick them up! I said no I think it's only fair if you deliver them after all of this. We spent $150 total. They did deliver pretty quickly but I was still missing two desserts at 7.95 each. Once we started eating the food we realized that this was no high end meal! Every meat was dry there was not one edible thing except the green salad and dessert we threw everything else away. When I called again to explain our full situation and our horrible experience all the manager offered was to refund me the two desserts that they left off. I will never enter this establishment again and please do not ever order takeout from this place. Obviously they have no concern about getting bad reviews they didn't act concerned in the least about resolving this with us. The last time I visited Tucanos was when they were down in Riverwoods. They've definitely upgraded since. The location isn't just better, the food has seemed to improve immensely as well. It seems like they've cut down on all the random dishes and have actually focused on making everything perfectly. The service here is great. The manager on duty came to our table at least twice to ask how we were doing and if we needed anything. The food is pretty good, all you can eat churrasco, buffet of hot food and salads. I also like that they bring your drink and a small pitcher to refill it. This way you don't have to continue asking for refills. My only complaint is that they don't bring a dessert with your birthday meal. They sing to you, but that's it. Had another incredible trip. The salad bad was very fresh and despite the horde of little ones who were entirely unsupervised by their parents, the staff worked tirelessly to keep things clean. Some excellent prepared salads as well. All extremely tasty. Still, we long for more variety on the hot bar. For food, that is the only complaint we could lodge. Service was stellar, exemplary even. Our server was Dan who stayed on top of our table needs and continually monitored the type and speed of the service we were provided by the food runners. The primary runner we saw was Tanner. And he was running! Not only was he very speedy with all our food, he would ask if there was something we wanted that we hadn't seen yet and was very gracious when my children would request something he had just brought by. The most negative things I have to say are about the general condition of the restaurant. The floor was beyond sticky. So much so that my daughter's shoe actually stuck. We all washed our shoes after leaving. The chair I was given to sit in was not super safe. The host ended up trading it for me. It was very shaky. All of the chairs at our table (4 of them, 5 including the trade) had the leather ripped. And lastly, the dowel you use to indicate if you want more food or not is in sad shape. I don't typically write reviews however, I went out to celebrate my anniversary tonight, and it was not an enjoyable time. Although the server had checked in, it was a quick one question or while he was helping another table, he would turn around and give us a thumbs up to ask if we're OK and then while we were sitting there The duration of our stay was 40 minutes and in that time I had asked for the same item about four or five times it never came and we had three or four different managers come up to us constantly asking how we were doing back to back because they were trying to seat a big party and they needed our table that was directly in the middle. The whole experience wasn't a good time. The food wasn't that great. Most of the meats that came out didn't have flavor and if we're paying at least $100 for a meal I would like to at least sit and enjoy my meal not constantly feel rushed. read more
