On a recent vacation to Vancouver, my hubs and I drove up to Squamish on our way to visit a friend…read morein Whistler. It's only our second time here but it still has a great, kick-back vibe. Of course we had to stop by our favorite cafe and donut shop, Fox & Oak. Love how they have a good variety of vegan and regular options for the donuts (they have gluten free too). I am not vegan but I can't digest milk protein well so I am always looking for dairy-free and vegan options. We got a vegan cinnamon sugar donut, regular passion fruit donut, and vegan apple fritter with raspberry icing to go. While at Whistler, we broke out all three and shared them before having lunch at Hunter Gather. All the donuts were delish!! We were all impressed by how fresh and soft they all were. Also, I didn't think I'd like the apple fritter with raspberry icing that much but I ended up liking it the most! On our way back from Whistler to Vancouver, we couldn't help it--we stopped and got two more donuts! Yep, it was a double donut day. I am not ashamed to admit it. Don't judge me until you try this place. Thank you, Fox & Oak!

Once we tasted the donuts and coffee we understood why there was a line. 3. We liked sitting outside where you had a nice view and could enjoy the sun.

This was a great find while passing through Squamish this summer! It's an interesting place with…read morekind of an old-time homey feel to the decor, and they also sell some Italian groceries which you can browse while waiting in line. The menu has an Italian and Greek touch. They also have a full coffee menu, and I noticed the tea selection was especially impressive with quality brands. I got a green olive sandwich, which was an interesting combination of hummus, fig spread and fresh figs, olives, and arugula on a pita. I thought it worked surprisingly well! The overall flavour profile of the sandwich was savoury - the figs didn't stand out as sweet when combined with the other ingredients. I also got an iced tea (lapsang souchong - a tea that I really like but rarely see in tea shops) and what they called an "ugly but beautiful" cookie. I don't know what the type of cookie is actually called, but it seemed like a meringue-based biscotto with crunchy nuts inside. It was good - I liked the texture! I liked how they decorated the store, it had a homey vintage look. They were swamped when we visited but the staff was very pleasant nonetheless!

It was stacked with plenty of meat! I wish it had a bit more of the veg, but it was quite filling with all the meat. The brown sugar hojicha was pretty good. Even though it had a brown sugar syrup, it wasn't too sweet. Overall, it was a great snack and I'd probably stop by again (:

The dressing blend is a perfect accent to the fresh greens. I had the turkey salad sandwich that comes on GF homemade, grain-free, corn free waffles. Mayo blend was spectacular with a hint of tarragon. My partner had eggs Benedict with a side salad. Presentation was a 10. Taste 10. Value 10. Do NOT pass this place up. Their GF bakery is also a treasure. We have their cinnamon doughnuts, chocolate muffins, and Boston cream donuts. All were great. Wish the cream in the doubts was punched up with a tad more vanilla, but I can't knock how impressed I was with their offerings. They have a freezer in front to buy shrink wrapped meals. We bought waffles, gnocchi, pizzas, and beef bolognese. Pizza was a 10 for, with pepperoni, sausage, and cashew cheese. The crust needs work. It nearly disintegrated in the oven. (Think more cornbread texture than pizza crust.). Again, not a fatal flaw. You won't be disappointed. Isaac is the general manager and is the nicest person. He explained how the chef was the former chef at the Westin in Whistler and how the restaurant came to be. A must stop on the way to Whistler and with the trip from Vancouver. A true gem! Parking is allowed in the lot behind the restaurant. Don't be intimidated by the signs. It's part of the approved parking complex.
