Linens-N-Things isn't all crap, though, so it's a bit sad to see it go--now only Home Outfitters is left to satisfy my occasional housewares-boxstore-near-Sherway browsing urges. The good news is Big Going Out of Business Sale at Linens-N-Things! I got a good deal on a badly-needed sauté pan (the old one had been shot for years). Everything's at least 20% off. The selection is obviously dwindling, but apparently you can even buy up their store fixtures, if you're looking for that sort of thing.

The website is great and we had a good idea of what we wanted, but still wanted to order in person. We made an appointment and met with Diana Brown. She was fabulous! She helped us choose the right pieces for our home. The only downside is that due to COVID-19 deliveries are delayed. Shortly after ordering the new dining set we decided to add a tv media console. Once again Pottery Barn had the right pieces for us. After diligently doing our research on the excellent website, we contacted Diana who walked us through and helped us build a unit to meet our needs. I think I stopped visiting the store because of that. Fast forward a few years, PBK is in Sherway and this store is very similar to Yorkdale except its not as crazy packed, service is more approachable, and they actually have sales inventory here. The store is like a candy store for moms. Many expensive bedroom sets are displayed around the store in perfectly coordinated colours, pillows, shams, desks, bears, and even night lights. It's all endearing until you see the sticker shock. Prices are exorbitant especially for the materials (it's not even real wood?!?). The furniture is a veneer wood and MDF which is medium fibreboard. A crib can set you back an easy $1500 before tax. Incredible! I can get a custom hand made Canadian maple crib and hand stained to my custom colour for the same price (and I did!!). Right now it's Halloween and the store is filled with very cute costumes. These costumes are actually very well made. The materials are nice, seams are all straight, and the design is thought out nicely. I would have bought one except it was $75. I had to double check the price. Overall, there are a lot of nice looking things in the store. I would buy them except I feel it's all over priced and sometimes the material quality is lacking. For the crazy prices, I rather spend the money on an heirloom quality furniture made be a Canadian artisan. They do have sales but even then the first sale price just makes things on par to the US price. I have much better luck shopping restoration hardware baby and kids online. At least I pay US costs.

Then the other 2 was not perfect but we accepted since we already got tired with them and in around only 4 months, both got damaged not due to wear and tear BUT due to poor workmanship since the lamination started to coil up and make ripples. I complained to them and they insisted it was not their fault and refuse to entertain their serious defects. We would never buy a penny from them and strongly recommend to be careful with them. And their deliveries were all late but with the rest, deliveries will be your least headache. Quality is worse than even the cheapest pre owned qualities from any other stores I have bought!!!!

It took two months to schedule deliveries (the delivery process alone was horrible and I had to leave work early for several days to get partial deliveries, and then have them rescheduled over and over again). Once they claimed they completed the delivery, two chairs were still missing. I immediately contacted them through their website. They took 4 days to respond to confirm that i was missing two chairs, not one. And that was the last I have heard from them....THREE FUCKING WEEKS AGO! Since then, I have emailed a couple times and have received absolutely NO RESPONSE. I am currently on hold (30 mins so far) and I doubt I will get to speak to an actual person. It was not my choice but what does one do when walking Sherway and seeing your better half bee-line into this American retailer. Follow her, of course...(yes, I'm intelligent!) I made sure to get there when they opened, (this was in around 10 30am) I saw one other customer who was already being helped at the cash and there were two other associates that were available because I could hear their idle chit chat. I browsed around for about 10 minutes, found one item needed another I didn't see. Within the 10 minutes of browsing I also stood behind the customer who was being helped politely. All 3 sales women looked at me and looked away. They acknowledged I was there but it seemed they couldn't be bothered! Considering how empty the store was you'd think someone would have uttered "I'll be with you" or "may I help you?" Nope. When it became painfully clear I wasn't going anywhere and the first costumer was almost gone was when one of them reluctantly addressed my presence. This is not a cheap store, the money that is being spent deserves more than this shabby treatment! These women either need to retrain or get out!
