This place is my new obsession. I love vegan food as much as Japanese food and this was like being back in Japan. The dessert options they have are gluten free, very flavourful, and not too sweet. I ordered their tsuchi set meal which came with your choice of onigiri, ramen, impossible meat katsu, potato salad, and cold side veg. Just eating thế food made me so happy. And their toilets are so clean. One thing I missed about Japan was the toilet so I was really happy that they have electronic bidets. Thế staff is very friendly and polite, I expected nothing less. Thế cafe also has a cute mini store where you can get matcha, tea accessories, and merchandise. I'm coming back to try their other desserts and menu items - I want to try EVErYThINg

Matcha, hojicha and their miso caramel macchiato is so good here! Their matcha is a vibrant green, and they use oat milk by default. You can also sub it out for soy milk if you'd like. They don't put too much sugar which is perfect for my taste. Their miso caramel macchiato has green strong coffee flavours. Their storefront is really cute as well. Service is good and staff was helpful and friendly. But space and an adequate amount of seating.

Stopped into this Japanese Vegan cafe and it did not disappoint. There's a decent amount of seating inside and the music isn't loud. I wanted to try their drinks but had already gotten coffee earlier. I ended getting lunch instead. 12 spiced "beef" curry and rice with add on of 2 pieces "karaage" - the beef curry was very good as the spices were very flavorful. The pickled onions had a little spicy in addition to its tartness. I also added the karaage which was crispy but with this protein, you can tell it was impossible meat compared to the impossible beef. They also use Japanese rice so it was soft and fluffy.

Finally had a chance to try out this place after seeing it packed a couple times I walked by. Their menu consists of vegan food savoury and sweet. The interior is quite minimalist and very simple. There are only small tables for 2 people, so not recommend for large parties. Karaage - Vegan karaage had a similar texture to chicken nuggets. They were large pieces, but pretty heavy. First bite was interesting, but it was difficult to finish the dish even with two people. Nice to try, but wouldn't get again. Strawberry cheesecake tart - Tart shell was interesting, probably was because it was gluten free. Thicker parts of the crust had better texture. Then there was a small layer of strawberry whipped cream and strawberry jam. The flavour was very subtle, but when adjusted the flavour was very good. Would get again. Miso caramel macchiato - A bit too sweet for my taste. It was overpowering the miso flavour and the bitterness of the caramel. Would not recommend. Interesting concept, and you pay a premium for a good product. Might come again, but only for the cake.

We were here to grab some sweets. The interior was impressively simple yet stylish, unfussy and natural, which I expect in good Japanese café. Humble elegance. And the same is true for their cakes! #Strawberry Mille Feuille: Loved it. Layered with super thin pastry, delicately flaky and buttery. The custard was smooth, strawberries were very fresh! Highly recommend! #Mmm.. Matcha Tiramisu: Cream & mascarpone were light in the mouth. Right amount of Matcha flavor, distinct, but not overwhelming. The matcha soaked biscuit was probably gluten free, so it had a bit different from regular lady-finger. A bit crumby, but I liked the unique texture somehow. Better to consume right away, as it gets soggy as time passes. #Yuzu Citron Tart: The citrus yuzu filling was not custard, but more like Jelly-ish, giving it a firm yet yielding texture. The taste was lighter and more refreshing than common heavy/starchy custard filling. But the cake had full burst of citrus/yuzu flavor. The crust was gluten free, so it was soft, not crunchy, yet buttery and flavorful. I will come back for sure for more of their delicate sweets. :)

Quite a lovely place with limited seating but very nice aesthetic, ambiance, and lighting okay. Seems like they didn't have much savory items when we went later afternoon. The quality of the coffee was a nice medium roast, if you like philz ecstasy it's that sort of flavor with a hint of salted caramel like miso. The old fashioned donut was a pleasant surprise, instead of a typical glaze/dough the icing is sort of caramelized on? But quite sweet. Overall, lovely place, would come again but very limited seating with like 3 single person tables so not the best study spot

Really cute and aesthetic Japanese cafe! Beautiful furniture and decor. Service is kind and quick. For vegan desserts, I thought the silky flan and matcha cheesecake were pretty damn good and I'm not vegan or vegetarian. The flan was as described, silky with a plant based milk flavor. Hojicha could have been stronger for me. The matcha cheesecake had layers of whipped cream, matcha cheesecake, red bean, and cocoa crust. The crust was delicious and so was the cream - couldn't tell it was dairy free. I just wished there was a thicker red bean layer, I could barely taste it. Overall worth a try if you like Japanese desserts!

    Disgusting silky vanilla flan

The matcha tiramisu is horrible. It tastes soggy, stale and over kept. The bread taste like grainy wet sand in my mouth and the matcha taste is barely present. The only benefit I got from ordering this desert was getting a cute cup. Furthermore, the "silky vanilla flan" also tastes soggy and wet. There is barely any flavor and it tastes like a washed out rag.

Tsuchi Cafe is quaint and elegant, both in their food and their decor/space. Stopped by for a post-dinner treat, and we got the signature tiramisu and autumn fig tart. The tiramisu was soooo good: super moist, good balance of cake and "cream" (it's dairy free), not overly sweet. The fig tart was pretty good: the cream cheese whip was so smooth, but the fig jam was a bit too sweet for me and would have liked the tart shell to be a bit nuttier. My wife who lived in Japan for a year is absolutely head over heels for this place, and says the food and vibe reminds her of her time there. So stop by Tsuchi if you want a taste of Japan.

I've popped by before for hot drinks in the winter but I'm glad I finally was able to come sit down for the cafe and actual food. It's a small shop but everything is of quality. They have a good selection of food, pastries, drinks and even take home/ out items. Everything is vegan friendly. Ordered the katsu sando, curry bowl, matcha tiramisu, and melon pan. I'm pleasantly surprised with their mock meats because the texture is there (sometimes vegan places don't do this well). Flavours are also there which really help round it out. I love their tiramisu and soy whip because to me, it tastes cleaner and not as heavy as I usually feel after traditional tiramisu. It did get busy when I went, but service was not slow given the customer: employee ratio. Also love the whole aesthetic of the cafe, even the washrooms are so nice (they have bidets!)

it was packed when i went in the afternoon, i'll definitely have to visit earlier to get another spot to sit great vegan treats, had both strawberry and kabocha caramel cheesecakes (yummy!) had the taro miso and karaage onigiri (i saved the mushroom one for later) both really good pretty indoors, plants on the wall and things being sold on the sides, pretty

This place was so good its crazy! I found this place from a youtube video and am so glad i went! The beef curry was so good i can't wait to go back just to eat this. Such a small place but the vibes were definitely there. I think its by a college it was people in there doing work so a great place to work out of for a few hours. Staff was super friendly!

This is a Japanese plant based café. They serve drinks, sweets, as well as several hot food items. I got the Matcha Latte ($6.95), Kokuto Mocha ($6.75) and Tiramisu (~$9). Pros: + The drinks have a nice flavor - not too strong and not too sweet. + The tiramisu is pretty decent although it's very dense. + Good and friendly service. Cons: - Limited seating available. - Interior isn't that clean.

I really enjoyed my dish! The duck was cooked perfectly. Duck was moist and flavorful. The crispy rice gave it a nice texture and helped make it a more filling dish. The orange sauce is a classic pairing with duck. The basque cheesecake has some delicious cherries! But the cheesecake itself was a little more burnt than I personally prefer. The crème brûlée had a very thick caramelized layer on top. But the creme was smooth and sweet. It'd be a great spot for a date night. But those with sensitive ears should proceed with caution. For me, atmosphere and ambiance are just as important as the food and drinks, so I was more than a little disappointed when we were shown to a small table right by the door. We were so close to the door, in fact, that I found myself making awkward eye contact with everyone that walked in. Far worse, our table was about six inches away from the table next to ours, which made private conversation impossible and essentially killed anything resembling an intimate vibe. Thankfully the food and drinks made up for the lackluster atmosphere. I started with one of their martinis and it was absolutely fantastic. If there's a better martini anywhere in the city, I'd be surprised. The food was just as good. We started with their delicious bread and delectable butter, and followed that up with the above-average French Onion Soup. The Bitter Greens Salad managed the impossible: it made radicchio delicious. And finally, the Steak Frites ended the meal on an absolutely jaw-dropping note. I can't remember when (or even if) I've ever had steak this flavorful and this tender. Absolutely incredible. Aside from the far-from-romantic feel, I very much enjoyed my meal at Milou. Maybe we'll return someday and I'll request a more intimate table.
