If the service is bad and that's why you don't give a big tip, they run after you in the parking lot, shame you in front of other customers while lying about it. After that, they don't even apologize about that either.
This was the first time something like this ever happened to me.
What a shame. The food was excellent, but the service was very, very poor and later, infuriating. If service is good, a 20 % tip is in order. If the service is bad, then the customer should have the right to leave the tip they feel is right. Instead, our waitress ran out TO OUR CAR in front of all the other customers in the parking lot and said we had not paid enough, although the bill had been paid in TOTAL. A tip had been left, but not a big one.
The situation: Having seen another customer order the steak (most expensive meal on the menu), we were very excited and ordered the same. Unfortunately, the meal took a long time to get to us and then came incomplete. It was also considerably smaller in portion compared to the other customer's meal we had seen. We asked that customer if they had ordered bigger portions, but they had said that they hadn't. Another customer who had bought the same dish said that they noticed the difference, but said they didn't want any stress that evening. We are assuming that our server was too busy to notice the difference, but she had said there was a new cook and he wasn't sure about what belonged to each plate. We guessed this was also the reason behind the discrepancy in portion size and the missing side dish. After we had told the waitress, she went back to the kitchen to get the missing side dish for us, but we got this after we were finished eating. Sitting around outside on the patio for our complete meal for 10 minutes would have spoiled it even more. Because of this, we decided not to order the dessert we were planning to.
We had got the two most expensive meals on the menu, yet were treated like we were second class customers. Afterwards, we were accosted by the waitress AT OUR CAR for not leaving a big enough tip, her claiming that now that we didn't leave enough tip, she would lose money in total sales and would now have to pay the restaurant back money that we should have paid. This puzzled me, as WE HAD PAID OUR BILL IN TOTAL AND NO LOSS should be accounted for on her side. We didn't pay more than a 5% tip because although the kitchen had made a mistake, but she was also partly to blame for not noticing the mistake and for making up for it badly.
Mistakes do happen, but usually a restaurant realizes that more should have been done in this situation, especially since the steak was the most expensive item on their menu. In other places, they offer the guests a tea or a coffee on the house, even offering to pay for dessert or a discount on the meal. Losing $3 is not much in comparison to losing sales or future customers. We, instead, were told to deal with it because the staff and the manager were too busy. Before writing this review, we wrote them 2 emails and gave them two days to respond. No apology or answer was made. read more
