There's a more popular restaurant literally right across the street, but based off the wait, we opted to try out The Siding Cafe. They had vegan and vegetarian options and they also had a small outside seating area. ordered the Tofu Buddha Bowl and it exceeded my expectations. For the past week, I've settled with subpar food because of the lack of options, but the Buddha Bowl was more than satisfactory. Good service, quaint little shopping options inside and it also doubles as a beer/wine store! Great stop.

One of few places to eat out in Field. We were going to go to Truffle Pig but the line was too long. The food here was very delicious and there was no line!

Hands down the best veg burger I have ever had! I'm allergic to mushrooms and most places have a premade veg patty with mushrooms, but Siding Cafe makes it with oats and its handmade!

    Buddha bowl with tofu

BEST BUDDHA BOWL EVER I ordered the Buddha bowl with tofu and I've been craving it ever since. The service is good and there is a gift shop in the same building. It has a great view of the trains when you walk outside as well.

This was a pleasant surprise on the way back from Emerald Lake. Probably the most casual eatery in town with a simple but quite interesting menu of sandwiches, soups, and rice and noodle bowls. Everything we ordered was super fresh and delicious. Charming shop inside and people were in and out grabbing some sandwiches to go or picking up beer, so it's a bit of a corner store mixed in with a tourism shop mixed in with a road stop cafe. Worth a visit.

Simply the best Café in the Rocky Mountains. We never imagined that we would find such a place in this remote area. The food was great, the employees were friendly and the calm, relaxed atmosphere was just amazing! Hoping to come back soon. PS: Still enjoying my great Americano ;-)

    The Egger

Great breakfast and friendly services! Order at counter and they bring food and they drinks out to you. The self serve water had fresh lemon and mint to flavour it. We ordered the The Egger and The Heavenly. It was a Weekday and it was fairly busy but everything came out hot, fresh and delicious! If it's nice out sit on the patio, great mountain views!

If you're not alert when looking for it you might miss it. I know I did. The sign outside saying "liquor store" threw me off. "Siding" is a railroad industry term, as in a side rail that deviates from the main railroad track. Yup the railroad tracks do go through town. This is a small mom and pop business that operates as a combination restaurant, coffee shop, and little gift shop. It sort of has a hippie vibe to it but after driving through Field that shouldn't be very surprising. It takes a special eclectic person to live in a small town of 169 people. Prices are a bit high but you can't really blame them because everything inside the National Park is expensive. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered the lesser priced deli sandwich. No complaints there. It was great. Service was great too and provided with a smile. They can tell who's a tourist and who's a local, and it was nice to see they treated everyone exactly the same. The process is simply you order at the counter and then seat yourself. There's approximately eight tables inside surrounded by some miscellaneous trickets and clothing for sale. The inside is very clean. Sure. You bet, I'd return again.

When we arrived, the server told us we could sit anywhere. After sitting down, we waited quite a while before our server came back, which was surprising since there were only a few tables occupied. She was too busy chatting with the bartender. Our food was served warm, so at least she served our food timely. I was so impressed with my salmon filet and potato & spinach tart! They were both sooooo good, I think my husband was jealous of my menu choice. He had the crispy fried oyster mushrooms burger with their soup of the day, chickpea marsala. He said his was good, but he was not overwhelmed like I was. We ordered the molten cake for dessert. My oh my, was it delicious! So dense and quality dark chocolate...yum! It was accompanied with vanilla bean ice cream with a melted chocolate on top that made a hard shell, strawberry slices and a s'more on a stick. Soooo frickin good! Compliments to the chef! Never imagined I'd be served such amazing cuisine at a lake Lodge. Overall I would definitely be back to eat their food, but servers could take a lesson in hospitality.

What a UNIQUE experience!…read more The good: - you're getting warm tea and soup on a HIKE. that's pretty cool. - the environment is awesome. No electricity, wooden porch... it's a vibe. - the staff are so lovely. They are warm and personable, and they freaking climb a mountain to work every day. - the soup (vegetarian chili) and tea were so good on a cold and rainy day. - they take credit card and have a small gift shop The okay - they were out of a lot of stuff (but again... they're relying on people to hike or helicopter their supplies. It makes sense.) - the baked goods are a bit dry. We had the homemade bread with our soup and the tea biscuits. I preferred the tea biscuits with the strawberry jelly, but in hindsight, I'd stick with the soup and tea. When else can you stop at a tea house mid-hike! Highly recommend the stop.

The remote teahouse with Swiss chalet architecture boasts a picturesque vista of the six glaciers,…read morethe MOST renowned view in the Lake Louise area, in my humble opinion! The tea house was built in the 1920's by Swiss architects with the intention of bringing the European alpine expedition culture to Canada. As such, its purpose for housing and feeding the weary hiker and adventure seeker continues to this day, to an extent. The most direct route to the tea house is nearly a 4 mile one-way journey from the Lake Louise lake shore, or one can pursue the traditional route by traversing through the Lake Agnes Teahouse to the Big Beehive shelter and finally to the Six Glaciers Tea House. This was precisely our route and it was quite the epic 13 mile journey. It is the ULTIMATE tour of the Lake Louise area and very much recommended. The tea house was fully functional upon our visit. They have quite the rustic setup where much of their supply is packed in by mules, but the smell of fresh biscuits wafting through the air is somehow an impressive possibility. Since we still planned on trudging over to the Plain of Six Glaciers lookout to finish out our day, we made a quick stop for the scrumptious Tea Biscuits with Strawberry Jam plus a cup of hot tea (choose from black, house/ non-caffeinated, green, or rooibos). This 'Option 1' Meal Option (Dessert + Drink) was priced at 11.70 CAD. We visited some time around noon on a Saturday and were able to find a seat upstairs without any issue. Someone took our order here. Staff was very efficient despite there being only a couple on duty. The tea biscuits were a delight; big, fluffy and with a decent crust. The hot tea was quite welcomed in the shade where it quickly became chilly. I was a bit worried about paying because nobody takes out CAD when in Canada, but they were somehow equipped to take credit card payments. Some souvenirs were available which were quite unique and felt like a prize especially after making such a grand, epic journey. They were out of hats after we finished eating, but my eye was on the prize with the custom-made Buff featuring a topographical map of the trail and teahouse. If you are able to handle the mileage, this tea house will be the instant highlight of your trip, guaranteed!

We loved the live music and the romantic feel. They have an amazing wine list (more like a novel). Service: Perfect! Our waters were consistently filled, and timing was nice. We liked how we weren't rushed between courses. Food: We had Hamachi as an appetizer. I asked where it was sourced and was surprised that neither the waiter nor chef knew the answer. For main course, I had the rack of lamb, my favorite. My husband had the bison tenderloin. Both were good. Not great. Both dishes were drowned in sauce. The sauce was way too salty to cover the entire plate. The food should always be the star and the sauce as a complement. One quarter of the sauce along the side would improve both meals. Last, we had some version of Tiramisu. It was very dry. The waiter was kind and took it off our bill. Would we return? Yes. The Post Hotel Dining Room is known for their sumptuous meals, upscale vibes, and massive wine cellar. I came here with my husband and the experience from start to finish was phenomenal. Our experience began at check-in by the large fireplace. After confirming reservations, we were shown to our seats where a staff member insisted on hang our coats for us. The setting is romantic and the dining room ceiling is decorated with lights and tree branches. There was even a single lit long candle on our table for ambience. Their wine menu is comprehensive! Their cellar holds over 22,000 bottles and has been awarded Wine Spectators Grand Award. In addition they have excellent seasonal cocktail menu. We started with a Holy Water cocktail followed by a bottle of Tattinger Brut Réserve champagne. The Holy Water cocktail is a mix of gin, elderflower, vermouth, and garnished with a kafir lime leaf. Very smooth and spirit forward. Food selection is something out of the movie Last Holiday. Reading the descriptions made us want to order everything. We did opt for the 4 course prix fixe menu. We ordered the crudo hamachi rose, pan seared scallops, miso black cod, and the mandarin tart for dessert. Every single dish was beautifully plated and delicious. The crudo was a great appetizer and shaped into little roses. The seared scallops was perfectly cooked and served with a caviar beurre blanc. The miso black cod was delicated and served with a ginger beurre blanc. Finally, the mandarin tart was nice blend of citrus and chocolate. I also ordered a Grand Marnier warmed up to go with dessert. Our meal concluded with a tour of the massive wine cellar. The sommelier walked us through the collection and showed us some rare bottles that available for purchase. Service, was en point! This is definitely a splurge restaurant and worth a visit.
