The hotel itself was a 3/4-star experience, but what put it over the top and made the 5-star rating absolutely necessary was the restaurant, which was by far the highlight. We had one of the best meals of our lives in the Deer Lodge restaurant, no exaggeration! The food, atmosphere and service were all spectacular and if you're staying here, you absolutely need to eat here. We had the Buffalo and Elk plate, Gnocchi and Quinoa cake. It was all incredible. The beer and drinks were also fantastic. I also have to mention our server, Riley, he was great. By the end of the meal, I felt like he was more of a friend rather than our server. He took the time to talk to us about the area, gave us great advice and really was everything you would want from a server at a tourist area like this. The hotel is great, but I would come back again just to eat at this restaurant.

If you've been looking for a restaurant in Lake Louise better than the Post, you've found it. The location is magnificent, especially in the winter. Housed in a very old mountain cabin, the dining room was covered in huge mounds of fluffy and creeping snow that gave it the look of something out of a fairytale. As you enter, hunting trophies and old photographs line the walls and highlight the exposed logs. Gorgeous. The staff was very friendly and helpful though their knowledge of the menu could be better. Food was delivered promptly and quality checks performed in a timely manner. Food, oh the food. When you begin the meal with the best bread that I have had the chance to eat, you're off to a good start. When things only get better from there, you're in for a real treat. Two words that you need to know: pistachio risotto. One more word: sweetjeebusthisissogood. This was by far the best side that I've ever eaten and the main was just as good. The salmon was cooked to perfection and well seasoned, nice and light. My companion had the elk and as a country kid, enjoyed it very much compared to "the real deal". High praise I would say. Make sure that you have dessert, it's at least as good as the mains. Chocolate truffle with home made vanilla bean ice cream and raspberry coulee is to die for. I will be back here as often as I am in Lake Louise which after this last trip, will be far more frequently.

Started with the big rock IPA. We both got the Bison burger, it was perfect. Definitely recommend. The Blueberry jam makes it. The servers are friendly and accommodating. We ate on the patio and it got chilly so they brought us blankets! Highly recommend this place. And within a few minutes walking to Lake Louise.

Came here for lunch. Waiter was nice and pleasant. The soup of the day was good. I had the Crisp Duck Leg Confit. It seemed overpriced and largely unenjoyable. Definitely would not recommend it. 7/10

Excellent service. A high end restaurant with everything you can expect from a classy 5-Star dining experience. Listen to the chef's recommendations and you will have a great night.

Walked in and wasn't greeted for 3 minutes. Given a menu and ordered a salad, which they didn't have because they basically ran out of food in the kitchen. The chef stopped making food more than 30 minutes before dinner because they didn't have enough food. The drink pours were TINY and after ordering 2 soups, 1 appetizer, and 4 tiny ass drinks our bill was $110 Canadian dollars (F$@&) NO that's not okay.

This is a nice-simple menu with something for everyone and not an over the top amount of choices. For this reason ordering was simple and our dinner (see attached photos) was wonderful. We were lucky enough to be able to eat outside in the heated dining area. This alone made this experience a once of a life time. Can you imagine sitting for dinner while overlooking Lake Louise. (Again, see attached pictures.) As the sun sets, the view keeps changing which is why I spent half my time eating and the other half taking pictures. We had a pretty wide variety of food and I will say that everyone found it fresh and tasty. People in our group enjoyed the great steak, chicken, and I always love the fish and chip which I seemed to have a lot of while on this journey. The Warm Peach Strudel was the perfect way to end this perfect meal. The service was amazing and our waitress was just fantastic. The was the perfect model meal... However a hotel the class of Fairmont should have some excellent offers even though your a captive audience. The Fairview Bar and Restaurant has all the makings of a 4 star restaurant, but they fall short on a few levels. After we were seated it took 6-8 minutes before someone acknowledged our presence and they said someone would be right with us. Another 5 minutes later a server came over and took our drink order, which took another 8-10 minutes to be served. Our server was fairly familiar with the wine list and make a couple of recommendations, both were over $200 a bottle, after telling her our expectations were in the $125-$30 range she made a couple of selections we went with. Portion sizes were not commensurate with the price point for the entrees. Two small Elk medallions were serve with a slight slice of bone for the marrow, and the vegetables; the plate was very nice looking as you can see in the photo. The bison filet appeared to be about 4-5 Oz. and wasn't very tender. Not impressed with the actual food, but the presentations were very nice. We had lunch at the Lakeview Restaurant and very satisfied with food, portions and service. I wouldn't return to the Fairview, but would go to the Lakeview instead.

We loved the live music and the romantic feel. They have an amazing wine list (more like a novel). Service: Perfect! Our waters were consistently filled, and timing was nice. We liked how we weren't rushed between courses. Food: We had Hamachi as an appetizer. I asked where it was sourced and was surprised that neither the waiter nor chef knew the answer. For main course, I had the rack of lamb, my favorite. My husband had the bison tenderloin. Both were good. Not great. Both dishes were drowned in sauce. The sauce was way too salty to cover the entire plate. The food should always be the star and the sauce as a complement. One quarter of the sauce along the side would improve both meals. Last, we had some version of Tiramisu. It was very dry. The waiter was kind and took it off our bill. Would we return? Yes. The Post Hotel Dining Room is known for their sumptuous meals, upscale vibes, and massive wine cellar. I came here with my husband and the experience from start to finish was phenomenal. Our experience began at check-in by the large fireplace. After confirming reservations, we were shown to our seats where a staff member insisted on hang our coats for us. The setting is romantic and the dining room ceiling is decorated with lights and tree branches. There was even a single lit long candle on our table for ambience. Their wine menu is comprehensive! Their cellar holds over 22,000 bottles and has been awarded Wine Spectators Grand Award. In addition they have excellent seasonal cocktail menu. We started with a Holy Water cocktail followed by a bottle of Tattinger Brut Réserve champagne. The Holy Water cocktail is a mix of gin, elderflower, vermouth, and garnished with a kafir lime leaf. Very smooth and spirit forward. Food selection is something out of the movie Last Holiday. Reading the descriptions made us want to order everything. We did opt for the 4 course prix fixe menu. We ordered the crudo hamachi rose, pan seared scallops, miso black cod, and the mandarin tart for dessert. Every single dish was beautifully plated and delicious. The crudo was a great appetizer and shaped into little roses. The seared scallops was perfectly cooked and served with a caviar beurre blanc. The miso black cod was delicated and served with a ginger beurre blanc. Finally, the mandarin tart was nice blend of citrus and chocolate. I also ordered a Grand Marnier warmed up to go with dessert. Our meal concluded with a tour of the massive wine cellar. The sommelier walked us through the collection and showed us some rare bottles that available for purchase. Service, was en point! This is definitely a splurge restaurant and worth a visit.
