We stopped at this small town on our way to Emerald lake for lunch. Truffle pigs bistro was an amazing find. Lots of parking space, small seating area and locally owned hidden gem. We ordered lamb, burger, and pasta. And we finished it all. I must say our tummy was full but heart wanted more. Service was great even though it was a full restaurant. A must stop to enjoy food and great ambiance.

Stumbled upon this hidden gem in the tiny town of Field--truly the middle of nowhere, with just one gas station and a very residential feel. There was supposed to be a café in front of the restaurant, but according to Google, it was closed, so we decided to give this place a try. We arrived on a late Saturday afternoon and waited about 30 minutes to be seated, which made sense since there aren't many dining options nearby. The wait was absolutely worth it. We started with the soup of the day--vegetable red pepper--which was incredibly flavorful, and the accompanying slice of bread was equally delicious. We also ordered the falafel-on-a-waffle dish for its uniqueness, and it did not disappoint--so tasty! The host and servers were warm, kind, and welcoming. If you ever find yourself in the area, I'd highly recommend stopping here.

It seems like a lot of people come here for lunch or dinner after visiting Emerald Lake. So did we. We waited about 30 minutes for 2 people for lunch. There were lounge chairs in front to wait in. We got the Purple Burger (shredded beets-nuts-millet burger with goat cheese) and Falafel on a Waffle (just as it sounds). Both were unique and delicious. We didn't even plan for dessert, but ended up getting the lemon-lavender cheesecake, which was unique and delicious as well. Service was warm and friendly -- a true small town hospitality. With a small town like Field, I was not expecting an innovative restaurant with international flavors. I am impressed what they have done!

Truffle Pigs is a casual spot for lunch and dinner with both indoor and outdoor seating. We read a lot of great things about this place and were excited to visit, but we were disappointed with our meal. We went at open on weekday which was good since they do not take reservations and got pretty busy while we were dining there. We were seated right away and chose to dine outside on the patio and enjoy the view. We ordered the Porcini Arancini, Nibble, Nibble Nibble, and a Pineapple Hops Kombucha. Our food came out pretty quickly. The arancini were crispy and the pesto was good, but they were so small and the dish only came with three pieces. The Nibble, Nibble Nibble is a charcuterie board that came with a variety of items such as smoked duck, pate, sausages, cornichon, fruit dijon, toast, and a couple of cheeses. The smoked duck was probably the best thing on the board. The smoky flavor came through and the meat was tender. The fruit dijon was a great balance of tangy and sweet. The pate was very dry and lacked flavor. We wished there was more toast (there were only three). The sausages, cornichon, and cheeses were okay. The Pineapple Hops kombucha was really good. Would definitely look for it in stores. Overall, giving Truffle Pigs a 3/5. We had high hopes for this place since it has good reviews, but our meal was pricey for what we ordered and the portions are small ($18 for three small arancini). Some of the items on the Nibble, Nibble Nibble lacked flavor. We also saw a bee or wasp crawling on the board and when we brought it up to our server, she quickly dismissed it. That kind of ruined the dining experience. Not sure if I would dine here again or recommend to others.

Nicoise salad. Plain but fresh.

We went to truffle pigs after a lot of recommendations. We went on a Thursday for lunch and the place was half full. Ordered the gambos al ajillo (shrimp with garlic bread) which was decent but oily. For entrees, my husband ordered the nicoise salad made with seared tuna which was fresh but kind of bland in my opinion. Husband liked it though. The red thai chicken has good flavor but gets a little tiring after a while. Would've been better if they separated the coconut rice and the curry.

There's a village outside of the long highway entrance to Emerald Lake called "Field". On the far West side of this tiny village is this very popular restaurant that's soo worth the visit for lunch. Reservation is highly recommended (October - May) as it's super popular spot to get lunch or dinner after Emerald Lake. During June - September, you're at the mercy of their first-come first-served policy. For appetizers we got the Pork Belly Nachos ($22) and Steamed Mussels ($24). The Pork Belly Nachos was a happy accident, we didn't mean to order this as it was a family lunch and the parents weren't fond of bar food. It worked out as the pork belly with the other typical loaded nachos ingredients made it an exception to the rule. The Steamed Mussels is a half pound of PEI mussels. The creamy sauce it is served in is delicious and of course you gotta dip the garlic bread in the sauce for the added flavor. For entree, the group split various items. The Curry Chicken Rice Bowl ($28) was alright, which was chicken curry on coconut rice. The Pappardelle ($34) pasta I enjoyed the sauce, which is a roquefort and mushroom cream sauce, with pieces of shredded tender beef. Comes wth grilled garlic bread which goes great with the sauce. The Peachy Flatbread ($29) is a great sharable for the table with the highlight being the peaches and the hot honey drizzle. I also got a cup of the Pink Latte ($5.50) because I found it to be unique. Has a hint of raspberry flavor to it. Give it a try if you're intrigued.

I was told that this was in town to get lunch. I think it is one of the few places in town to get lunch. The restaurant is small and after waiting 20 minutes, we were seated at the bar. To be honest, it felt cramped as I was on the one end of the bar facing a wall. The food was good, better than I would expect in a small town situated in a national park.

Porcini arancini

Beautiful views on the patio and the food is excellent. The tuna bites and porcini arancini were super flavorful and fresh, highly recommended. The burger was good but nothing special for the price. Servers were attentive and inquisitive, they probably get a lot of travelers especially for the nice mountain views. Overall would visit again

Food portion is very small. I'm not a big eater, but their food portion is so small I still feel hungry after finishing an order.

We stopped in for a late lunch recently while visiting Yoho National Park. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and we requested a seat outside. The menu at Cilantro on the Lake includes some unique options including a lamb burger, a buffalo shawarma wrap, cheeseburger soft tacos, along with some pizzas and shareable appetizers and several cocktail and beer options. I opted to order the summer vegetable pizza and the cilantro poutine appetizer and share both items with my parents. The summer vegetable pizza was delicious and loaded up with artichokes, red peppers, olives and fresh argula with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. The cilantro poutine had a nice, flavorful gravy with plenty of cheese curds and a hefty serving of thick-cut french fries Customer service was great, Moira was friendly and welcoming and checked in often during our meal. The views of Emerald Lake are pretty amazing and provide good photo opportunities. I will say the prices for the food and drinks were steep, and more expensive than expected. I was interested in ordering a mocktail, but the $15 cost was too high. The pizza alone was $35. The total for our meal was about $70 including tip. So, this is something to keep in mind. However, the portions were very good, and we were all full and had trouble finishing up the pizza and poutine. Cilantro on the Lake is worth visiting if you're looking for a snack and want to enjoy a nice view.

The parking lot is large but fills up fast with tourists so many park along the main road leading up to the parking lot. The food here was outstanding! Our server wasn't very friendly or welcoming. She was too busy chatting with the bartender. Our food was served warm, so at least she served our food timely. I was so impressed with my salmon filet and potato & spinach tart! They were both sooooo good, I think my husband was jealous of my menu choice. He had the crispy fried oyster mushrooms burger with their soup of the day, chickpea marsala. He said his was good, but he was not overwhelmed like I was. We ordered the molten cake for dessert. My oh my, was it delicious! So dense and quality dark chocolate...yum! It was accompanied with vanilla bean ice cream with a melted chocolate on top that made a hard shell, strawberry slices and a s'more on a stick. Soooo frickin good! Compliments to the chef! Never imagined I'd be served such amazing cuisine at a lake Lodge. Overall I would definitely be back to eat their food, but servers could take a lesson in hospitality.

Reposados emphasizes fresh ingredients and handmade preparations, including their corn tortillas and grilled street-style meats, and you can definitely see that philosophy reflected in the menu. The check-in line was pretty long, which was frustrating because I really just wanted to grab a drink at the bar. Once we got settled in, though, there were plenty of interesting things to try. I started with the Mezcal Plum Margarita, made with mezcal, Japanese plum wine, plum juice, lime, citric plum mist, and finished with a vanilla & cinnamon salt rim. It was a creative take on a margarita, fruity, smoky, tart, and nicely spiced from the rim. I also tried the Stolen Margarita, made with mezcal, peppercorn & ginger-infused vodka, mango togarashi shrub, miso, lime, and a togarashi Tajín salt rim. This was definitely a more adventurous cocktail, with smoky, spicy, savory, and tangy flavors all coming through. There is also a $2 jar deposit for the cocktail jar. For tacos, the Baja Pescado was my favorite. The crispy cod paired really well with the cabbage and carrot slaw, mango-jalapeño salsa, Repos sauce, pickled onions, and cilantro. The combination of crispy, fresh, sweet, spicy, and tangy flavors made this the standout taco for me. The Carne Asada featured slow-braised beef with salsa taquera, crispy potatoes and onions, and cilantro. Lots of hearty flavors and textures. The Chile Brussels taco was creative but way too spicy for me. It comes with crispy Brussels sprouts, honey chili crunch, whipped cotija and goat cheese, pickled red onion, peanuts, and cilantro. The combination sounded fantastic, but the heat overwhelmed the other flavors. Unfortunately, my to-go tacos were cold, which was disappointing and took away from what could have been a much better experience. Overall, I enjoyed the creative cocktails and the Baja Pescado was the clear taco winner. The long check-in line and cold to-go food were misses, but there are definitely some fun and inventive flavors here worth exploring.
