The only reason being is that it's the only outdoor mini course in Spokane. Staff - The only gal who was working was quite pleasant and tried to make the place fun, while three other guys just looked surly and bored to be there. Arcade - The worst I've played at. Over a third of the games were offline or not working. The ones that we tried either errored out or were claw machines. Beware of the claw machines! I overheard a staff member tell another patron that they are on the highest setting for limited payout. We probably tried one that contained various Sonic characters around 30 times, and still wasn't on payout. Prize Counter - pretty sad looking and only tailored to kids, which I get, but a lot of arcades now tend to have a mixture that would lure adults. If we do come back, it would only be for the outside mini golf, but I would rather drive 40 minutes to go to Triple Plays outside mini golf, along with a decent arcade.

The bouldering is fantastic with a good mix of easier climbs and tough ones that push you. Within my first month I was already climbing around V5, which shows how motivating the gym is. The workout area upstairs is spacious, well equipped, and never feels crowded. The atmosphere is great! Good music, and plenty of space. It's chalky like any climbing gym, but still kept very clean. Overall, Blockyard has a great community and awesome climbing. Definitely a 5/5.

I had a group of about 10 young boys scheduled to play laser tag, and about 30 minutes before our reservation, I received a text from the owner letting me know their computer system was down and we might not be able to play. When we arrived, the system was still down--but the team immediately stepped up. The desk attendant gave everyone in our group unlimited arcade credits and even offered to cover the cost of another activity in town if we preferred. We decided to stay, and they generously ordered two pizzas for the group. They refunded my reservation in full since we couldn't play as planned, allowed me to reschedule at no charge, and sincerely apologized for the inconvenience. Then, at the last minute, their system came back online--and they still let us play a free game of laser tag! These guys truly know how to treat their customers. Exceptional service all around! Their arena is also massive and the gear is high quality. It was tons of fun and they said they are the 2nd largest laser tag arena in the nation.

If you find yourself on campus and looking for a more kid friendly area (aka slides and splash pads) I would recommend a walk on down to the park! It has a large bank of tennis courts (with evening play available due to the lights!). It also has a pool! Many times when I've been here there is some kind of swimming competition occurring in the pool. Last time I stopped by they had some new fitness play equipment for adults. I have an interest in unique playground equipment so I thought this was pretty cool considering the retirement facility located right on the edge of the park. You can grab picnic supplies at the nearby Safeway or takeout from the nearby Thai restaurant and enjoy the beautiful summer weather in Spokane. I frequently see people picnicking here. One really important part of Mission Park that I must mention is the memorial to Otto Zehm. He was a mentally-ill man killed by the Spokane police in 2006. The simple memorial was placed in 2012 as part of a settlement with the city of Spokane. As a community it is important to remember the legacy of Otto Zehm and I think a visit to this memorial is an important visit for any local or tourist.
