We've used Mountain Air for several years for our bi-annual "tune-ups" so when our 6 year old HVAC…read moresystem stopped working suddenly of course we called them first. Their diagnosis was we had a bad compressor and it would need to be replaced at a cost of just under $6,000. Having relatives in the HVAC business in Arizona I knew that compressors are expensive. We had replaced our HVAC system, including the variable speed furnace, in California the year earlier for just over $9,000 so I requested a quote to replace our entire system since their $6,000 estimate would or should be a majority of the entire cost. Imagine my surprise when the bids we received ranged from $17,000 to $27,000!!! At these prices it was time to get a second opinion....and this is where it gets really ridiculous. After getting a recommendation from another homeowner within our community we had Ben Henry HVAC out to check our system. What he found was that we had no electricity running to our condenser/compressor, that the electrical line from our electrical panel in the garage to the outside unit had failed/been severed. Ben suggested we have Dave Williams of Crux Electrical out to repair the line which we did. Upon restoring electrical power our system worked fine, there was NO COMPRESSOR ISSUE AND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ACTUAL HVAC SYSTEM!!!!!! When I shared the Mountain Air bid with my HVAC experienced relatives and with our HVAC guy in California they all laughed and remarked we were being ripped off. As I said in my final communication with the sales folks at Mountain Air, "So you guys are either incompetent or have low business integrity...leave it to you to decide". The positive outcome of this entire debacle was we found two great contractors in Ben Henry and Dave Williams. We upgraded our furnace with a variable speed motor by Ben Henry and it's been a game changer.

Brycen was great and made what I thought was going to be a home re-finance job into something we were able to handle. So today, Tony came by for an inspection and made sure my sister's HVAC system was running as it should. I had her sign up for the same plan as ours. Tony was also very friendly and reassuring. Being senior citizens, sometimes we are not treated well - but these guys? They made us feel special and that's a big deal to us. Tony was not rushed and explained everything to us. I have dealt with one of the "BIG GUYS HVAC" companies in the past, and was very disenchanted with the whole scare tactics they employed. He explained to me how to relieve the water heater bladder pressure once or twice a year and what to do if I had any issues with the pressure regulator. He is TOP NOTCH ethical, kind, professional and affordable. One of a kind. He was over $1,000 less (and in some cases over $2,000 less) than his competitors. At my first house I had them assess, putting in a new toilet in my basement, which required the foundation to be opened up, but instead of charging me for the labor, he let me borrow the tools to do the job and not charge me a thing. Then just this week I had a natural gas line corroded and I had received multiple quotes from companies that were charging extravagant costs and Mark was able to coordinate someone to come to my house and get it done in less than two hours at less than half the cost what I had been quoted earlier. He said $99-$175! ‍ So I put on Facebook any recommendations and got a one man show company that came and cleaned for $99 and no service charge fee. ‍‍‍ I do have to say when I called SOS to cancel my appointment to repair they waived the service charge fee after looking at my scenario so the company does have some good employees.
