At my first house I had them assess, putting in a new toilet in my basement, which required the foundation to be opened up, but instead of charging me for the labor, he let me borrow the tools to do the job and not charge me a thing. Then just this week I had a natural gas line corroded and I had received multiple quotes from companies that were charging extravagant costs and Mark was able to coordinate someone to come to my house and get it done in less than two hours at less than half the cost what I had been quoted earlier. There's no reason to go anywhere else.

I liked however that John, once on site, was able to scope out some best case and "worst case" cost scenarios for the repair. So I feel they were fair about their diagnosis process. To our recollection we have never posted a negative review, but our experience with Blue Best…read morewarrants one. We met with Blue Best late in 2024 to discuss our concern with air temps in our house, specifically temps in our living room and kitchen, which have high ceilings and southern exposure and become uncomfortably hot in summer. We were very clear about our concern, and the salesperson spent hours assessing our home and assured us his proposed system would solve the problem. We accepted the ~$14,000 bid to install a heat pump solution based on that assurance. By summer 2025, the living room and kitchen were still too hot on most sunny days. Despite many service visits and repeated adjustments (baffles, registers, fan speeds, etc.), the issue was never resolved. Blue Best ultimately stated the system was operating as designed and implied the problem was with our home, not their installation.  In our opinion, Blue Best is very good at selling a solution, but not so good at ensuring that solution meets what the customer needs. Two independent HVAC contractors opined: -Our ductwork is in good condition. -The thermostat, furnace, and compressor Blue Best installed were not properly matched. -Basic industry-standard load calculations (e.g., Manual J) were apparently not done, which would have shown the system was undersized for our home's layout, windows, and sun exposure. Blue Best has declined to remove the system or refund our payment, instead relying on fine print in the contract. We are now pursuing legal options. We have since spent ~$12,000 on a mini-split system from another contractor, which works as intended. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Blue Best and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.

Colson & Nathan came at 8 Monday morning, diagnosed it & explained several options. I chose the best option. They went and got the parts and finished including cleanup and my credit card payment about 11 am. That is GREAT service and we are lucky to have such an excellent plumbing company in the Salt Lake Valley !!! Both Colson and Nathan are nice and have pleasant personalities, too. They are quick but careful! I got a garbage disposer with 10-year guarantee, which is great value.

The questions they asked left me concerned about their experience. The visit then shifted toward looking at other fixtures and recommending equipment replacements. Our kitchen faucet had been replaced several years earlier but kept coming loose. A technician assured us they could provide a high-end faucet that would stay secure and that we would be happy with. My husband discussed it with them and agreed based on those assurances. The next day, they installed a chrome faucet that did not match our kitchen and threw away our existing faucet. We were very unhappy with the appearance. When my husband complained, they offered a different faucet at a reduced price. He agreed, and they swapped it out, but the promised price reduction never appeared on our bill. We had also received cheaper quotes from other companies, and Rare Breed agreed to match the pricing. The bill still does not reflect the agreed amount. We have followed up about the discrepancy and received assurances that someone would contact us, yet we continue receiving bills every day without the promised correction. The technicians did not inspire confidence, the replacement process was frustrating, and the customer service has failed to resolve the billing issue. We expected them to stand behind their recommendations and honor the agreed price. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Rare Breed Plumbing.
