OMG what's not to love!?…read more The first time I tried Smoke's Poutinerie was at a kids festival at the Markham Fairgrounds. Crispy fresh warm fries, the gravy is insanely good and full of flavour and it all comes together with their cheese curds evenly topped! Once I found about this location, I have gone back at least half a dozen times since. My youngest asks for it at least once a month. I just wish they would open a Markham location. The options for toppings and add-ones is endless! Our first visit to this location my youngest was curious about trying bacon with his poutine, they were so kind and (free of charge) gave him a small cup of bacon to add in to his poutine to see if he would like it. This is his usual poutine every time we go back. Generous portions, fries are amazing, fast service and a cozy place to eat in!

I usually get the Freshburger combo #1, which has cheese and one smash patty, and I ask them to load me up on the veggies. The combo comes with fries and a drink, and I upgrade my fries to the Cali fries- similar to In N Out's animal style fries which include their special sauce, caramelized onions, and cheese (you can also add other toppings too; my fam likes to add the spicy jalapenos and mushrooms). The service is always 10/10; everyone is super nice plus I love that they put each person's order in its own labeled bag! The restaurant is also pretty clean and the ambiance in general is very minimalistic - it's clear that the star of the show is the food! Definitely recommend this place if you're craving a really good burger and fries! (PS. Please bring a location to Michigan )

I think my rating would be way higher if more effort was put into the construction of the sandwich to complement the pastrami... Like the bread and toppings just didn't do anything to help the meat (which was delicious on its own). I do like that you can choose the kind of mustard you want as well as the cut of pastrami (lean, fatty, both, etc.) For a simple and quick pastrami sandwich, it does the job but I don't think it's worth the Michelin recommendation... This spot gets hyped up EVERYWHERE online but I think that just comes from lack of abundance for this type of food. If you're willing to make a trip for a WAY better fresh pastrami/smoked meat experience, head on over to When The Pig Came Home at the Junction in TO. You won't be disappointed.
