Did a soft re-open Saturday, August 1, 2026. The food was delicious! The place was packed!

My family and I went to their soft opening since they advertised that their lunch items were $6.99. What they failed to mention was that only 3 of their lunch items were at this price. It wasn't listed anywhere so when we went to order, I got their Meatloaf with two sides and corn bread. This came out to $26...just for the meatloaf plate! It was not worth it to me since the top portion of the meat was burnt. It wasn't great... it was just ok. They tried to cover burnt portion with sauce. The sides were good but never would I imagine that it would cost that much for a lunch plate. Would I eat here again? Probably not. I do have to say that the staff were very nice and I loved all the Bible quotes they had! read more

I've been meaning to try this place, and now wish I had discovered it earlier. It was a bit overwhelming for me ... so many choices and everything looked so good! I tried the meatloaf (at the recommendation of a customer who came to the counter for a bag to take home the leftovers from very hefty servings). It was the best meatloaf I've ever had! The Mac & cheese and green beans were also very good ... good downhome cooking! I will definitely be back! Sunday lunch with the fam. I had seen this place and wanted to give it a try. Sunday choices: beef tips, smother pork chops, ox tail, liver and onions, pigs feet, or chopped steak. Veggies were stuffing, mashed potatoes, collards, okra and tomatoes, Mac/cheese and green beans. You get a meat and two veggies. These ladies know how to cook. Liver and onions were awesome! In our party, we also did the beef tips, chopped steak and smothered pork. We ALL took home at least half. Portions are massive. Collards and okra were great as well. If you aren't sure, you can ask for a taste. Service was great. Food was better and they have football on the TVs on Sunday. Return trip is guaranteed. read more

Overall this was a great place to eat. It was my first time going as we just picked a random spot for lunch. I ordered a smoked Turkey leg with 4 sides (Mac n Cheese, mixed veggies, squash n cheese, collard greens) along with a drink. The entree was $39 plus drink plus tax of course. The other plate was smothered pork chops with 2 sides for $17 Price 5 out of 5 stars - Based on the food portion it was priced right. Too much food to eat for one person or at one time so leftovers happened :) Taste 5 out of 5 - Everything was seasoned on point and not overdone. Customer Service - 5 out of 5 - We were greeted immediately, the restaurant was clean, and all of the dishes were explained. The staff made you feel like family. Hands down the best meatloaf in DFW. I came in for lunch and ordered to go. Took 15 minutes waiting for my order and I was happy to wait, but just wished they offered me some drink while waiting. They offer dine-in customer drinks and there are many you can choose from frozen drinks like margarita or a rum. The salad is not your typical salad- HUGE portions which we love! We paid about $50 for the salad and meatloaf and drove 30minutes to get to this place but it was worth it!! The moment you walk in, you will smell the delicious food. I had the meatloaf this Sunday I've gotten around to trying a few of their plate lunch.The portion are always good.But today i tried the Meatloaf it was the bomb the portions was big enough for two and it was the best I ever had.The next day the meatloaf was even better.The reason I gave a 5 stars is the price was great the meatloaf was seasoned in and out side they put love in this meatloaf.I don't give out 5 stars to any restaurant But the chef put her feet in this plate. So happy to see this kind of restaurant on my side of town. It's not the fanciest place, but decent enough to dine inside to get some comfort food. You can also do carry out. The staff is funny and friendly. The portions are generous so I'm ok with the cost. I was happy to support a small minority owned business. So let's talk food. Some of the food was good and some was just ok. I need to go back once more to make up my mind. I need to try a few more things. Cabbage gets 4 STARS yummy and seasoned well! Okra gets 4 STARS loved the onions and tomatoes mixed in with the okra. Oxtails 3 STARS were well seasoned. Ribs 2 STARS not a fan of the sauce and meat lacked seasoning. Mac and Cheese 1STAR was cheesy and just ok. Southern Greens were tasty 3 STARS Overall I had a good experience. Stumped on this place by accident. Not sure what there hours are but there were people behind the counter at the door. The open sign was on but the door was locked when tired it. I have to give it a 5 star rating, especially when you have been looking for soul food in Richardson. I knew this was going to be good when I saw a young man going in at the counter. Always a good sign! I saw the pictures on yelp and had made up my mind prior to going. The beef tip were tender and gravy nice. The collards and sweet potatoes omg good as good could get. This is some of the best soul food that I've had in many years. I am from Florida my mother cooked mini of the meals that you will see at truckers Café, the smothered pork chops, which I've had the chitterlings which I've had the oxtails which I've had the pig feet, which I've had, all have been excellent as I consume my meals. I will say that I mostly go at least once a week corrections I go at least once a month when feasibly able to do so based on my schedule. The staff at this restaurant are great. I've got to meet the owners, the managers and many of the working staff, they are very friendly and easy to talk to. Now that I have found this restaurant, it will be my go to anytime. I had the veggie plate with mac n cheese, corn, green beans, cornbread and a red velvet cake for dessert. The mac n cheese, corn, and cornbread were good. The green beans were not tasty at all - they were full of butter, but no seasoning. I'll write this off as an oversight because the other items were definitely seasoned. However, the star of the show was the dessert. Baby, that was the best red velvet cake I have ever eaten! It was moist and big and had just the right amount of sweetness. Yeah. No. This place is definitely not worth the hype. My husband and I chose to try this place as we had heard good things. We placed an order for pick up then headed that way. The food was hot and ready when we got there which was awesome. My husband went inside to get the food and was met by rude cashiers speaking over him and talking very loudly. I ordered the fish basket. EVERYTHING was super salty and my bread was soaked with jalapeño juice. My husband thought he ordered a burger basket but ended up paying $14 for a burger and his bun was wet for whatever reason. I had been wanting to try this place out because of how amazing their salads look. I did not expect the salad to be $24. But it was enough for 2 meals. The 1st time I was there the owner prepared our food and it tasted absolutely great. We went back another time and someone else prepared our food and it lacked flavour also I noticed there wasn't as many toppings on my 2nd salad as there was on the 1st period So it is disappointing that they are not consistent with their food. Also we had purchased a groupon and tried to use it the 2nd time and their machine Was down so they could not accept our groupon. They have a lot to choose from.
