Easy to find, just off Atlanta Highway, plenty of praying spaces...I mean, parking spaces! We were…read morewelcomed by Destiny with a friendly hello, who quickly gave us a receipt and helped us get a reward card, which immediately gave us 5% back on the cost of our all-you-cash eat meal! We easily found a comfortable booth, and our server, Debby, quickly took our drink orders and we grabbed our plates and headed to the food bars. I had a helping of dressing, topped with a savory beef stew, and added sweet yams, fried green tomato slices, chicken-fried steak, and fried mushrooms. I also took the opportunity to try fried liver nuggets and fried gizzards (not bad at all!). Back at our table I found a large glass of cold sweet tea waiting for me (nicely brewed, extra sweet, just the way I like it!). It all tasted so good and full of southern comfort. I appreciated the friendly, frequent service of Debby. We've long been fans of buffet-style restaurants. We are newly-moved to Montgomery, and eager to find new eating places, and Fried Tomato Buffet has earned a spot on our prestigious, discerning list of favorites! We appreciated the words of wisdom and encouragement, the cleanliness, the service, the affordable price, the wide selection, the friendly welcome, and the free rewards club membership. Only one small caution: the entrance is an attractive, double-door entrance, but the right-hand door, as you approach the entrance is bolted shut, and the left-hand door opens outward only partially! It caught us by surprise...no sign or warning was posted on the outside to give us any warning! Upon entering we did see a sign posted on the inside, a notification that the door opens only "half way"! Maybe post a sign outside the door? Maybe modify the door hardware? However, Fried Green Tomato is a strong 4-point favorite for us. Thank you, Destiny and Debby, for helping to make our experience comfortable and enjoyable. We'll be back!

On March 19, 2026 I decided to go here with my parents ( along with my husband and two kids) since…read morewe are here visiting them and seldomly have a chance to dine at a Golden Corral. Since it has been a while, I called to check the prices. The call is a recording and for pricing the caller is supposed to price 2. So that's what I did. For the time that we were going, the recording clearly says that Early Bird pricing is from 1 to 3 with drinks included for $11. 49( or $11.99). For Seniors the pricing is similar but it's 11 to 4. We arrived before 3 and I was charged for drinks plus 12.49 for each meal. I went ahead and paid so that I could join my parents at the table. As I processed the pricing I asked the waitress and she said that that price is Early Bird Senior pricing, implying that there isn't a separate Early Bird and Senior price. That is not what the recording says. The "heading" for each price is clear and separate. So I asked to speak to a manager. Instead of him trying to understand what I was saying, he barely listened to the recording via the number that I dialed for that location and he defiantly told me that he wasn't changing his price and that HIS price is clearly on the board and that he was not changing it. This was the worse manager interaction I've ever had and he had no concern for what I was saying and couldn't have cared less. I couldn't leave my parents there and not join them so I didn't ask for a refund. So I quickly filled out the survey-making it known here that he is getting over on customers and doesn't care. He could have nicely refunded the difference and apologized for the misunderstanding and made himself a note to fix what was causing that confusion. Or, even if he couldn't extend a refund, he could have done something. He didn't do anything at all. It was clear that all he cared about was me just being another number in his restaurant that just so happened to be full at the time. Since he didn't want to treat me as a valued customer after me giving him more than one chance to correct the problem, I'm making it known here that that manager only cares about your money. If you call the number for this location it is not going to match what is on the menu in the restaurant as you get ready to check out. I also told customers as I was leaving to make sure that they are being charged correctly. He was so defiant and had no regard for me as I customer, I was almost speechless. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to spark a louder reaction from me but I didn't let it go that far. I won't be back there- especially if he is there and you all who are thinking about going there...watch your pennies. Update: The manager called to say the recording says that the prices are subject to change without notice. Even if that's true, he still missed the point. The price misunderstanding is only part of the problem. My point was in how he handled the situation, how he talked to me disrespectfully, and in how he handled the misunderstanding disrespectfully. He could have desclated it easily and a phone call with an empty " I'm sorry" doesn't make it any better. He only did that bc hos managers and owners said to.

The service here is a little weird and jarring at first. I hadn't gone more than 10 feet through…read morethe door when I was asked "What'll you have to drink?" You just have to know the procedure, but it wasn't only me, a Northerner whose brain hadn't yet fully recalibrated for the local accent. Locals were confused too. Procedure is this: tell them your drink preference (I had water), pick up a tray, put it on the counter, pick out a main, three sides, a dessert, slide it down to the register, pay, and take it to your table. At that point do you begin eating? No! Remove your items from the tray and they come by and pick it up. Now begin! You may be thinking "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld but I assure you it didn't feel that way. Just the quirky way they run the place. The waitress did warm up after I was there a while, came over to ask where I was from, etc. And to try to convince me to come back for breakfast! This is cafeteria style, with everything prepared ahead of time and kept warm on steam trays. So how do they keep that fried chicken so crunchy and delicious? Perhaps the best I've ever had, the batter so crunchy you could probably hear me eating from another room, assertively peppery, the large leg and thigh pieces perfectly cooked and juicy. (White meat also available.) My sides were lima beans, turnip greens, and yams. The highlight was the yams: super sweet but not in a bad way, balanced by good seasonings. The beans were fine, a bit salty. The only disappointment were the turnip greens, too finely chopped and overcooked. The portion sizes were decent. Also included is corn bread. Two choices: baked or fried. Never heard of fried so I tried that. Interesting but a little chewy and not so much corn flavor; next time I'd get the baked. Finishing this rather large lunch was a challenge for me but I managed, while taking in the local ambience. I saved the dessert for later. Dessert? Yes. I was also asked on ordering what I wanted for dessert. The only one that appealed was the red velvet cake (the others were a cobbler and bread pudding) so I got that. I assumed it was included but when I paid I saw it was not. $4; no big deal. It didn't look that good, a thin 1 inch slice tightly shrink wrapped on a paper plate. Looks were deceiving. The first time I actually liked red velvet cake, a light crumbly texture and cream cheese frosting that tasted of more than sugar. With the amount of frosting this tiny slice was quite filling and I'm glad it wasn't larger. All this for a little over $21. I think this was including tip but I'm not positive. Either way, great deal!

Just go, don't even question it, go. Best little diner, great food, amazing service, and fast!read more

My uncle and I have been making a two-hour trip to Wind Creek locations in Alabama for months, and what we've experienced is beyond frustrating--it's a consistent pattern that feels completely stacked against players. When you factor in the time, fuel, and money just to get there, the experience is flat-out unacceptable. The payouts are consistently terrible. Not just "we had a bad night"--I'm talking about repeated trips, across weekdays and weekends, where machines barely hit at all. You can walk the entire floor and see the same thing: people visibly frustrated, hardly anyone winning, and machines that feel like they're designed to take and never give back. Out of all the times we've gone, there was only one stretch--around February--that the machines seemed to pay anything back. Every other visit has followed the same pattern of extremely low or nonexistent payouts. Here's the bigger issue that people need to understand: Alabama does NOT have traditional casino regulation or oversight like other states. These aren't fully regulated gaming environments with enforced payout standards and transparency. That lack of accountability shows, and it's the players who pay the price. If you're already driving any significant distance, do yourself a favor and go to another state where casinos are actually regulated, audited, and required to meet fair payout standards. At least there, you know there's some level of oversight protecting the customer. Bottom line: save your time, save your money, and avoid Wind Creek casinos in Alabama altogether. There are far better--and far more transparent--options elsewhere.
