I stopped by here on my way back home from visiting family on Christmas. I was as thoroughly surprised at how good the food was. I'd like a little more variety, but the items on the bar were tasty. The waiter did the best he could. I wasn't blown away with him. Then again, it's a Buffet so he was serviceable. Inside, the restaurant is due for some upkeep and maintenance. I was very disappointed with the General Tsao's Chicken. The sauce was not authentic, just not good. My other half had the buffet with no complaints. The selection was average for a Chinese buffet. They do not serve orange beef which is my favorite. I have had better takeout from many places than this. If you are a fan of the buffet I would say give it a try but beware the quantity being offered is good but the food is ok. read more

I ordered sweet and sour chicken and soup for lunch. The chicken was tough and the breading was heavy and greasy. There was no crunch at all. It was soggy with grease and tasted off. The soup was okay but the crispy noodles tasted like they had been cooked for a while because the grease in them was also off tasting. I only ate the soup. I could not eat the rest. My wife and I first ate at the Troy Buffet probably a couple of years ago. We live roughly 35 miles away. We would eat there when we were passing through Troy on our way elsewhere. Now, we make intentional trips to eat there...and use the excuse of going to Walmart or something...even though there's a Walmart half that distance from us! LOL!!! The food is just as great as it was when we first ate there!!! Some favorites are the seafood salad, octopi (my wife doesn't eat it and thinks I'm crazy!(Grin)), all the standard Chinese dishes...teriyaki chicken, Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, baked salmon (yummm!!!), baked clams, all kinds of shrimp, and on and on and on!!! Just writing this is making me want to drive to Troy!!!! :) Oh, and being in the south a restaurant has to have good sweet tea...Troy Buffet has that covered, too!!! As for service....it's great and it comes with lots of friendly smiles!!! So, if you haven't tried this place...what'cha waiting' for??? If you're passing through you won't go wrong eating at Troy Buffet!!!!! It's delicious!!!! Tell 'em "Intheswamp" sent you....maybe I'll get an extra fortune cookie next time we eat there!!! As a retired air force man, I have eaten Chinese food from all over the world, including Beijing. While this is NOT Beijing, I must rate them high for many reasons. The food is fresh, tasty and there was a good selection to choose from. In America, if Chinese food is prepared and cooked right, it all tastes the same. If you want a better tasting Chinese food, go to Beijing, but for Alabama, this place is great! We are from Montgomery, and we got to Troy Buffet once a week! read more

New Chinese restaurant in Troy, Al. Super clean. Manager and staff were outstanding during the lunch hours. Haven't opened the Hot Pot menu yet but was told it would be opened soon. Lunch buffet was very good, sushi was well prepared. We'll be back soon!!! read more
