This is a good place to come for a tropical sno cup. The owner is so compassionate, giving youngsters a job so they can have some change to get through high school and show them work ethic, very nice that she gives to the public like that. Today was a rough day all around and she offered me a one on the house, me being the stubborn one doesn't like to take advantage of a company who was trying to make a living, so we came to a decision that she would pay for to the next person, and you should've seen the look on that kid's eyes. There's usually a line... which says a lot! I love this place! It's addictive and I'm never disappointed. The owner is super friendly and always makes sure to ask me how my day is, which I appreciate. This adorable tiny shack is only around seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day, so you need to take advantage of getting a snow cone while you can. There is one picnic table with an umbrella, but since they're usually busy... it's usually taken. It's totally fine, though... the shack is located in a parking lot with lots of spots available, so you're better off enjoying your snow cone in your car with the air conditioning running or driving to nearby Salmon Creek Park. In terms of size... it's like Goldilocks and the Three Bears' porridge. You'll find one that is your "just right." Mine is a medium. ;) read more

Proper shave ice should be like loam. This place has that down. The syrups are full octane (not like some places that water them down). As good as any shave ice as I ever had in Hawaii. There's no places to sit, so eat them standing or in your car. Also, the ice goes in a cup and the cup into a plastic skirt so it's hard to spill. My car appreciates that. read more

This place is amazing! As someone who has been to Hawaii multiple times, I've never found any shaved ice on the mainland that even comes close to Hawaiian shaved ice. Until I found Tropical Sno! This stuff is legit! The ice is so soft and smooth and not hard and crunchy like a lot of the other places around here and I love that they drench it with syrup too! They have a wide variety of flavors so everyone is bound to find something they like! I wish they would open a shack up in Longview they'd have absolutely no competition in the shaved ice business up here! (Hint hint) read more

Ice isn't even food. It's just hardened water. If you told me I would happily pay $5 for a cup of ice, I would call you a mean name. I was hot and cranky though, and for some reason the pictures on Yelp made me think "Yes, I can definitely pay for ice." I had a Silver Fox (vanilla, coconut, and coconut cream), and it was ridiculously good. Way better than it should have been considering it is just a cup of water that takes longer. I am not a snow cone person but my kids are. So I hadn't planned on getting anything when we went. But lets just say, once I saw the ice....I was sold! There were two very sweet ladies working who hardly missed a beat when my friend and I ordered "plain" snow cones! Our kiddos ordered crazy monstrosities but we were in awe over the way their ice was shaved. Like a previous person said it was literally like a snow ball. The kids gave a HUGE 2 thumbs up on flavors and I tend to trust their judgement on sweet things. Shave ice cart behind a hot-tub dealer in Salmon Creek. Staff are polite, but don't achieve "aloha". Ice quality is quite good: fluffy with a bit of crunch. The flavors are where this place disappoints. Peach: generic fruitishness, but not the "taste the fuzz" their website claims. Passion fruit ("lilikoi" -- my favorite, usually) did not ignite my passion -- did they give me banana by accident?! Overall, too sweet by half. I love shave ice, so I'll probably try this place again just to make sure my first experience was not a one-time thing. I'd been on the road all summer and hankering for a snow cone. I searched high and low in NY, DC, SF for one. And, low and behold, once I returned home I found this happy little hut by the side of Highway 99. They use a special machine to create spun (as opposed to crushed) ice. Think more like eating real snow than crushed hail. There is a good selection of flavors and its a run by a very nice family who always serve your cone up with a smile. read more
