Tropical Smoothie Cafe in the Dahlgren, VA area is a nice change of pace from the "normal" fast food/lunch options. The shopping center that it's currently in competes with Starbucks since it's right next door but I feel like this place can keep up. It's a healthier alternative to the other choices. There is plenty of parking in the lot but I imagine at times the lot could get pretty full. Upon entering the store, you see that it's very bright and clean. Unfortunately during my visit at around 11:30, there was a pretty long line and the store gets very crowded. The other issue with the store is the service line itself. It's very narrow so if you are trying to get through to use the restroom, you will have to squeeze through several folks. Fortunately, the staff was very friendly and they set a great standard of customer service. There are several items to choose from to include smoothies, salads and wraps. The smoothie that I chose is the Paradise Point which consisted of pineapple, strawberry, and banana. It was very tasty and not very expensive ($4.79). My friend ordered the Thai Chicken Wrap. It was a pretty good size and had some good flavor. The issue with the wrap is that it came out looking like a burrito and wasn't cut in half like a typical wrap is. I know that's not an issue for most people, but for its thick size, it would have been easier to eat. Also cutting it in half helps for presentation. Overall Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a solid choice for lunch or a snack. I recommend giving it a shot if you haven't tried it before. read more

Love the environment at tropical cafe. When I got there they were cleaning the cafe which is good but I don't want cleaning products by my food. Also I would have it a five star but the cashier literally threw our food on the counter. And just turn her back and continued talking to the other workers. *Loyal customer for three months during school* The restaurant is clean and the customer service is great. My orders were correct 98% of the time and if incorrect it was fixed immediately. I added the app recently which saves on time and earns you rewards. I spent at least $50/wk here so it would've been great to realize they offer the app before but oh well. If you want a healthy option then this is your best option in Dahlgren. Be careful, basically all smoothies have added sugar and you can actually go without the sugar. It's naturally sweetened by the fruit so tell them no sugar. My faves: detox island green, orange ginger glow, turkey apple Dijon sandwich, jerk chicken salad bowl (has kick to it). Have to say this location needs more training. Ordered a Thai chicken wrap and peanut smoothie; got the smoothie but no wrap. Waited ~30 min, spoke with cashier and the manager at the time said she gave me that wrap. ExplainedI didn't receive it, she got hostile trying to say she's certain she gave it to me. Let's see the video to prove this I said. She had no time for that...would take 1-2 days to review. I asked for a refund; she said it cannot be done; she took my contact information and would contact me what the video would show. We'll see if I actually get this response. None the less...received no wrap and no refund. I've been coming to Tropical Smoothie since I was a teenager and I love and always will love the Peaches and Silk smoothie. Every once in a while I will switch it up but that's my go to drink. I have tried a few things on the menu and now I have one of my lunch buddies hooked (lol)! At this particular location I did have a customer service issue when the cashier didn't seem to happy to serve us. I am very nice to customer service people so maybe she was just not in the mood or didn't care for me personally for whatever reason or my friend. We come here often so I guess she will have to get over it. Love the food choices and the drinks and I don't feel unhealthy while ordering so that's a plus! read more

Ordered a chia banana boost with NO SUGAR and the girl puts sugar in it anyways. Lady at the front wasn't wearing face mask properly. The employees were wearing their face masks below the nose. I would seriously consider this establishment talk with their employees about following the rules and the LAW as we are in the middle of a pandemic where face masks are required and not to be worn below the nose. I would have liked to just be refunded my money but I was in a rush and really had to go. Service was slow. I don't think I'll ever be coming back here. Only place to get a smoothie in Dahlgren- Just don't follow the hours posted. Even though the hours posted say open till 9pm they DEFINITELY CLOSE by 8:30. Pulled up at 8:50pm for a smoothie and door was locked. Another customer knocked on the door and the girl wiping the counter started SCREAMING PROFANITIES and threw her hands up in the air startling the other 2 girls in the back- the look on their face was priceless. Once she opened the door she calmly explained that the workers were supposed to be OUT of the restaurant by 9pm. All happened Tuesday October 30, 2018. My question is why post your hours incorrectly if you don't want to stay open till 9pm- people drive out of their way literally fo nothing. Too much going on, not enough help. I did an online order of a smoothie and food. My food was ready when I arrived, but my smoothie was not. In fact, other smoothie orders were done before mine was. I'm also not sure I got the correct smoothie since mine was a split between another customer. I even had a request for B12 and a Fat burner, but I never saw this go in. Their Chicken Caesar Salad with kale is great. It's tasty and the sauce is perfect. They put the sauce in a separate container so that you can mix in the amount you want instead of getting a dressing drenched salad. Smoothies are excellent as well. We've tried a few. I prefer the island green while my husband prefers the banana almond chi smoothie. The prices are reasonable too. So happy this place is nearby since we are staying in a hotel for 3 months and have this as our only healthy restaurant. read more

Didn't catch her name but the young lady who was working on Friday Nov. 1st around 3-3:30 pm was really wonderful and helped me a great deal. Came in to get something to give me a boost because I have the flu, I order my usual thing and asked for any boost powder that might help with the immune system. The girl offered B12, but then suggested I shouldn't get my usual, and I very plainly asked her to use her judgement and make me a smoothie that would make me feel better. And it did. She also gave me water which I was very thankful for. I hope the girl who helped me sees this and knows how much I appreciate her for being kind and thoughtful toward me when I was sick. This store is the absolute worst. My husband and I stopped there at 6:45 pm and was approached by an associate and I gave her my order only for her to tell me that this is one of the messiest smoothies we have and I just cleaned my line. looking puzzled I asked was the store scheduled to close and she said no but the smoothie is messy and I just cleaned my line. as I was walking out the store she then said I can make the smoothie but it's a messy smoothie so needless to say she made it and as she was making it she started slamming items down on the counter in the trash and to top it off took this orange thing and slammed it in the trash directly in front of me. when I asked for her manager name she gave me the name of an associate that no longer works there and I only found that out bcuz I called the store the next morning and was told that. We love the food at tropical smoothie. We love that it's local and right by our house. However, we always have our orders wrong. For the first couple of weeks of us going there it worked great, and the orders were right. Suddenly they all started coming out wrong. Maybe it's someone in the staff? I'm not one to post reviews, but I felt this one was needed. I'll start off by saying customer service isn't the problem. Every time I come in there each employee has always been very nice and welcomed me with a smile. The issue I have is that the hours posted are 7am-9pm M-F. I have been there numerous times right at 7am and they weren't open yet. I get being a few minutes late sometimes, but I've waited until 7:15-7:20 on both occasions and they still weren't there. I understand emergencies come up, but you should always have a backup when running a location with one employee working a busy morning. A handful of customers had walked up to the door and tried to open and all the lights were still off. The hours posted mean you open the doors at 7am and lock them at 9pm. People have work to get to and can't wait around for a place to open. What happens to the orders people have prepaid for online right at 7am and there is nobody to fulfill it? It's just getting a bit ridiculous. read more
