Only reason why I'm giving a 2-star rating, is because I thoroughly enjoy the smoothies, otherwise I would've given a 1 star or less, based mainly on the service I just experienced! I had placed an order for a pickup time at 8:50am, but I happened to get there 15 minutes early, based on past experience, I had thought that my order would've been completed. Unfortunately, such wasn't the case. The associate who is working this morning informed me that my order wasn't in their system, despite my receiving of a confirmation email. The associate then told me that I would have to come back & mentioned something about 10am. Why in the world would I go home just to return 2 1/2 hours later just for a smoothie?! I wound up cancelling my order, because I wasn't going to deal with the drama or the continued letdown from the associate working. I will return to have my smoothies, but I'm not going to order through the app if the orders aren't going to go through the system & the associate give me horrible customer experience. read more

Since the new owners took over a few years ago, this location has gone from disappointing to a complete avoid. While the seating area is not dirty, the Customer service is completely lacking. One word to describe the Huntley location: FRUGAL. The ingredients in the food items are always scarce and don't bother paying extra for upgrades or additional ingredients. You will hardly ever receive them and if you follow up with the guys currently running the shop, they will debate you and gaslight you into making YOU feel like a cheap customer for holding them accountable for properly fulfilling an order. To get your money's worth, go to one of the other Tropical Smoothie Cafes in the area (LITH OR CL) to get appropriate portions....and better customer service. read more

My seven year killed this sandwich...the whole thing. He said it was the best sandwich he's ever had. I tried it and thought it was pretty tasty too. I had a triple berry oat smoothie and the flavors were vibrant and the smoothie was satisfying. The chicken salad and ultimate club were met with rave reviews. The person who worked the counter, his name wasn't on the check (#1776), was GREAT. He was polite and patient as I navigated through the menu with my kids. He made suggestions because my little guy wanted chocolate in his smoothie. When the smoothies came out, he walked them out to us. This seems like a no brainer, but usually staff (in random restaurants) will set them on the counter and tell you to pick them up. Not here, he remembered who had which smoothie and assured us our food would take a few moments longer. When our food was up, he walked out from behind the counter, said thank you and said to enjoy. i shouldnt be shocked but our smoothie was way better than our food that we ordered. The smoothie honestly tasted like it was something you would drink on vacation it was so refreshing. We had a nice lunch sandwich and quesadilla but it was nothing special. i wish the quesadilla came with sour cream over a very runny salsa. I have a love-hate relationship with Tropical Smoothie Café. The smoothies are GREAT and well-prepared. Plenty of options to choose from and you can add protein and whey! Food is ok. They're more of a smoothie place (which is why they're not known for their food). I usually get the Baja chicken flatbread and the acai berry boost smoothie. Both are pretty good and I would order them again. But what ruins all of this is the ambiance of the place. Staff is absolutely HORRIBLE! I have NEVER seen or experienced such terrible customer service in my LIFE! The staff is composed of high school students and they obviously have no interest in actually "working" at work. While I was there, the staff BLASTED terrible rap music and acted as if they were just "hanging out". As a customer, (I don't know about you) but I HATE IT when the workers are louder and more obnoxious then the customers. Great place for a fantastic smoothie and tasty lunch. Not sure why so many negative reviews. I grab lunch here a few times a month (sometimes 1x a week) and have never had an issue. I order on the app and typically get my two favorites, Açaí Berry Boost and the Caribbean Jerk Wrap. Occasionally my wife will order something too. I've never had any issues with my order being messed up. It's ready when I arrive and tastes great. The staff is friendly and assist me as soon as or shortly after I arrive. Delicious food! How has it taken me a lifetime to find a fast food restaurant which offers a trifecta of healthy, tasty and reasonably priced food?! Walked in here on a hot day, honestly, just because a 'tropical smoothie' sounded refreshing. Once I saw the food menu, I was pleasantly surprised that this was more than a Jamba Juice type of place. Ordered a Thai chicken wrap and a Pecan Chicken salad sandwich (it was a workout day) as well as a Blueberry smoothie.. The food was excellent. You could tell the ingredients were very fresh and the protein especially was not the junk kind you would find in most fast food places, even like Subway.. Also a big plus for me was that you can customize the smoothies with a variety of additions like protein, multi-vitamins, fat burners etc. Will definitely be going back soon! read more

Definitely a meal I will remember... From the start walking into the establishment for me was bad . Nothing but high schooler yelling across the room to their friends just to say "hi" the workers do not pay attention most of the time on their phones. I ordered a smoothie and a wrap from here the smoothie was called "beach bum" which contains strawberries,chocolates and bananas they messed that up and gave me a drink called watermelon mojito so I had to wait about 10 minutes for a new drink. The Buffalo chicken wrap was another Item that looked and sounded appetizing on the outside you'd never expect anything to be wrong with it ,but when unfolding it to put back a piece of chicken that fell on the wrapper I witnessed tomato's that were discolored hidden under globs of Buffalo sauce it was absolutely disgusting. Good food and smoothie, small portions, staff was pretty terrible. Very loud and obnoxious. Hardcore rap blaring from the back and a bunch of staff trying one up each other like a Soul train dance competition. The girls are yelling at the boys and boys are showing off for the girls in some sort of mating ritual. I was concerned about the cleanliness of the food mostly because the staff seemed so unprofessional. I noticed other customers coming in with a look of disgust as they were greeted with the totally odd scene. It sounded and appeared like a teenage birthday party. Not sure who was managing on the last time I visited, but they need to be retrained. It's a shame. And I get that we all want to have fun at work, but when you are so totally unprofessional and juvenile, it detracts from your product offering and calls into question the integrity of the food, staff and establishment as a whole. read more

My wife and I would come Here almost on a weekly basis but I'm afraid tonight was our last time because of the extremely rude management who refused to refund me for an item that I paid for but was not in my order when we got home to eat it. I called and asked politely for them to refund me for the side item that was not in the bag but was on the receipt and I was charged for it. I was told "no we can't do that, we have been out of that item for a while now." I asked how I was supposed to know you were out of that item when nobody told me anything and the "manager" responded with "we substituted your item with jalapeño corn so we will not refund you." I'm sorry but that's like ordering a pizza and then getting a itialian sausage instead of a pizza and saying "we have been out of stuff to make pizzas for a while but our online ordering app can't tell you that. Then when I called to ask for the franchise owners email or phone number I was hung up on and after repeated calls I was told no.....we don't give that out, and then hung up on again!!!! Let me just say that I love this place. Usually. Always had great service until today. Very disappointed with the counter person today (8/9) at 12:40. Tried to redeem Belly points for a free smoothie and was abruptly told that I couldn't without my card at that point another employee told her I could to which she replied no he has to use the card. She then took another Belly card and changed my card without asking me first. Then told me I would have to accept the confirmation email from Belly before I could redeem the points. Sorry I didn't bring my card and I didn't have my phone with me. I was just running errands. So I didn't get a free smoothie and I felt the apology wasn't sincere and then I had to interrupt her attitude to get my new Belly card from her. Sorry, but that was not a good experience. If you're going offer Belly points at your location and be able to check in with your email, then you should be able to redeem without having to jump through hoops. read more

I'm a regular at TSC because the food is great, friendly staff, and the location is easy to get to. The owners are always there and very hands on with their business. Good food but small portions.... but gets an easy 4 stars. The staff takes away from that however. It seems to be just a job for most there, and a job not that well done either. The first time we were there was on a weekend and the staff was not friendly. The food came and I said we didn't get our smoothie. "Oh it will be up soon" was the reply. 5 minutes pass and still no smoothie. So up the the counter I go.... low and behold it was sitting right there all along. Nice. Fast forward and it's now a week day, the food was good again however the attitude of the staff still is marginal. When your business is interfacing with the public you put your best in the front.... or at least that is what I would do. That doesn't seem to be the case here. I also got to relive not getting a smoothie. While we got ours with our food I witnessed a staff member come from the kitchen and call out a customers name.... no one replied so the staff person set the drink on the counter and walked back in the kitchen. A minute later another staff member comes out with food and calls the same name. This time the customer hears it and the food is delivered. The customers asks"where is my smoothie?" "Oh, it will be out soon" is the reply and then staff walks right past the smoothie sitting on the counter back into the kitchen. Now I have only been there twice but I see the drill, Smoothie comes out first then the food. Why would an employee not know that or at least check? Good food will get people talking and coming back, Poor attitudes and customer service will kill the good that is generated from that. read more
