DELICIOUSLY THICK FRUIT SMOOTHIES I was put on to Tropical Smoothie Cafe through T-mobile Tuesday. I was able to get a free smoothie and now come in time to time for another. I have tried a couple of their specialty smoothies like the Mai Tai which was yummy but I'm always coming back for the Açaí Berry Smoothie which is my favorite. I really enjoy these smoothies because you can truly taste the fruit in them and the consistency is perfectly thick. Due to another perk, I was able to taste one of their flatbreads. I opted for the Chicken Bacon Flatbread which was good size and tasty. It wasn't too big and not too small. I walked in here for the first time today and will definitely be coming back! When I walked in, the woman that greeted me was very warm and welcoming (she could've been a supervisor or owner). I told her it was my first time and she helped me with deciding what to order. On top of that she gave me a complimentary smoothie to try! You can't beat that!! I ordered the Island Green smoothie which is delightful! So tasty but also feels like you're doing something good for yourself. I saw her blend in the greens with my own eyes and it didn't taste like veggies at all. The complimentary smoothie was called a Mango Monsoon. Now I'm not sure why this isn't served all year around because it is soooooo delicious. It's soft and creamy if that makes sense. Only thing it was missing was rum!! Just kidding! Onto the Caribbean jerk chicken wrap. It was fresh and flavorful but definitely didn't taste like any jerk was in it. That doesn't bother me though now that I know and I would order it again. They got me on a good day when I had the time to write this. It's 8:50p ET. I just got back in my car. I visited this location tonight to grab a smoothie. Coming from Queens and was really craving one. I saw they closed 9. GPS put me there at 8:45. Usually they make smoothies fairly quick. I get there and they are already cleaning up. They young lady at the register was super sweet but said they can't take any orders. I asked but don't you all close at 9. She said yes. Basically it seems they close earlier than what's posted. They should adjust their hours accordingly. This is not the typical location I got to. I usually go to the Westbury location with no issues but I needed convenience. I don't care if i was there 5 minutes before, whats the purpose of having hours listed if you plan to create your own. I think the times listed are the times they leave the store and the start shutting down much earlier so they can walk out exactly at the times posted. read more

I go out of my way to go to the store when John is there in the evening. He is so much fun to visit. I've been to other Tropical Smoothie cafes and none of them make it like John. When you walk into the store John makes by you feel like a small neighborhood store with warmth and friendliness. Every business should have a John in their store. These days you walk into stores and you don't get that small store, neighborhood feeling. Regretfully I didn't take any pictures of my smoothie but I did have a go at the blueberry bliss. I knew my body Needed a smoothie after night of vomiting and upon the first gulp I knew exactly that was what the doctor ordered. I was very excited about a tropical smoothie coming to the neighborhood. I ordered a Baja chicken wrap with grilled chicken, rice, black beans, smashed avocado, romaine, pickled red onion, cheddar & roasted tomato salsa. It was delicious. The smoothie was even better. It was so cold it gave me a brain freeze. I had the Triple berry oat smoothie which contained strawberries, blueberries, cranberry, multi-vitamin, ground flax seed, whole grain oats, whey protein & Splenda. Love this tropical smoothie location - mid morning/afternoon shift usually rocks hard as it seems as though they understand complex orders and can provide recommendations on the fly - they'll even put a straw INTO your bag for you! Early morning are ONLY good for happy hour ($2 off smoothies before 10am daily) - if you try to get the $1.99 smoothie deal w/ the purchase of a wrap it seems as though the cashier isn't aware of the right way to process this - not a big deal, but management should be made aware so that adequate training can happen. My daughter and her father went to the Hewlett locations today. And my daughter made a mistake and picked up the wrong smoothie. The employee there snatched the smoothie from her and then continued to berate her. This woman has no customer service skills what so ever. My daughter frequents this particular store and never had a problem till today. I would hate to think it was the color of their skin. I would like to think she was just having a bad day. As a former employee who worked for an unappreciative and money hungry boss at this Tropical Smoothie Cafe located in Hewlett I'm willing to share my experience. I've been working at that location for almost 2 years now and have worked for 2 different managers. The 1st one was not an issue especially considering it was the stores grand opening: we learned everything together but unfortunately she sold the business due to a language barrier. Her English wasn't the best, as well as this 2nd manager... This new manager, Lisa L., managed to fail 3 inspections already since August--when she started. 2/3 of the times due to labels on the fruit containers being expired. The last failure was due to rodent feces found in the basement and one of the food refrigerators being off for two days in a row! Ms. Lu would inform us to just switch the labels, no matter the condition of the fruit and sell that out. The bananas could be prepped two days in advanced, browning or completely brown and bark at us to sell the overripe fruit. Another constant issue employees run into is that she's cheap! She basically skimps the customers out all of the products! She instructs us to pack 2.5 oz of chicken when it should be 2.8oz, she uses the tiniest containers for the sides: kale and apple slaw and maple sweet potatoes when the sides should be 2 times the size. The amount of time customers vocalized their complaints and concerns at the time. She even managed to be stingy with lettuce, which is supposed to be a high quality of Romain but buys iceberg lettuce instead, cut it up until it's indistinguishable and serve that in the salads or wraps. She'll instruct us to over prep a plethora of products just to keep us busy throughout the week but will also get upset if said product isn't sold in a timely fashion. And last but not least, she's Asian, I honestly never though I had an major issue with her until I felt discriminated against and noticed. She would scream at her non-Asian employees over the most ridiculous reasons ever. Reasons I never thought I'd hear ever in my life. We "walk too slow." We're "cutting the lettuce too slow." We're talking too much. She'll hound us and will do it in front of customers if a product appears to be low during a massive rush. Obviously, we were so busy to the point that we literally couldn't move... of course, the straws are going to be empty if we are literally stuck in place either taking orders or making them. Hearing such a minor complaint about an "issue" that literally can be resolved within minutes is exhausting! If her Asian employees did the same thing, they wouldn't hear too much about it. If her Asian employees are on the phone Lisa would say nothing to them but the ones who didn't look like her would be constantly nagged or we'll get a pay cut if we're caught using anything electronic. A new gem to the town! We needed a place like this- friendly staff, clean and bright atmosphere and healthier smoothie and food options. They have done great opening weekend by having things under control and fast service while being kind and attentive. The food is great- love their quesadillas :) and the smoothies as well. So good, different options for everyone and the substitutes and supplements are a great option for those interested. I placed an order online through their app at 12:45 and it gave me a delivery time of 12:57. I had not received the order by 1:11 & since I placed it on the app I had no way to track it. I called & was told it still had not been picked up. They told me if it wasn't picked up in 10 min I could come get a replacement. At 120 I called back and was told it was picked up which was a lie bc I called door dash and it had not. I asked they remake the order I would pick it up & now they refused. The delivery got to my house at & at 135 & states he picked up the order and came right to my house with is (3 min away). I was left with cold nasty food with rock hard pita bread. They left me on hold for 5 min just to say they will not refund my order or allow me to pick up another order. They are the least accommodating place which is disgusting bc this isn't the first time I have been there. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE if they are willing to lose a customer over a $16.00 order to they are. It worth spending money on read more
