I usually don't comment but my order of acai bowl is so bad to the point I think management needs to know: the acai smoothie was chunk of ice and the granola was like a granola bar blocks. The acai is supposed to like a smoothie, not ice and granola should be split into little pieces and not a granola bar. For a $12 bowl, you'd expect it to be better than a chunk of ice and a few bars of granola. read more

What a rip-off. I've only ever had a smoothie here before today. I was feeling a salad, and got the Thai Chicken salad. The only good thing is the flavor of the dressing. The lettuce tastes weird, and the amount of chicken in the entire salad is about the size of my pinky finger, along with a miniscule amount of other ingredients. I will forever skip this overpriced salad, and get one from Wawa from now on. read more

I ordered a Detox Island Green smoothie. It was sweet, but not too sweet especially considering it's naturally sweetened. The ginger was always pleasantly there in every sip, but it wasn't overpowering. The taste was pretty well balanced where I couldn't distinctly taste any of the other components (e.g banana). Overall, I would definitely order this smoothie again if I want a healthy smoothie and it's a good choice for people who want a smoothie with veggies. I ordered my smoothie for pick-up. This location has marked six feet for people waiting to order/pay. They have done a good job in reorganizing their tables to give people more room to social distance whether it be from each other or the employees as they wait for their order. There is also a protective barrier in front of one of the cash registers. Considering that they had 8 orders to process by the time I got there, I am very appreciative that they were able to get my order completed quickly even though it was only 5 minutes after my pick up time. I've been a longtime fan of Tropical Smoothie, and so came in for a little pick-me-up. I went to pick up my order to find the staff all unmasked, despite their company's COVID policy, and in-store signage for "face masks required" at the registers. I didn't feel safe accepting my order in the end, so I asked to return it. I was refunded, but not without getting grief from two staff members over my concerns. While I don't know if company policy changed or something, I don't think I (or anyone) deserved to be treated like that in that situation. I won't be going to this location ever again, but I am willing to change my review depending on how the owner chooses to respond to my report. Thanks. read more

My son and I love Tropical Smoothie, so we used to go here 2-3 times a week. However, I am thoroughly appalled by their customer service. I found a piece of metal on the bottom of my 2.5 year old's smoothie (I am so glad he didn't swallow it!). I contacted corporate immediately, and someone from the local store contacted me the next day. Without a sincere apology, he asked for pictures. I sent the pictures (also kept the piece of metal for evidence) and was informed that someone would contact me after investigation in a few days. After more than 2 weeks, I didn't hear back so I called them on Monday, July 27, and the manager assured me that he would call back within two days after talking to his partner. Well, It is now Thursday night, and I have yet to hear back. I expressed my concern as it was found in my child's drink, but it is clear that customer safety (much less satisfaction) is not a priority for them. I would have at the very least expected an explanation for the metal found in my drink or at least a refund, but neither was given. read more

I absolutely love tropical smoothie. I always get the kiwi quencher. I went to this location for the first time and waited 8 minutes before one of the 6 employees I saw came to take my order. The smoothie tasted like ice and I asked if they could remake it. The woman in a pink shirt laughed at me but remade it anyway. I sipped it before I left to make sure it was better and she definitely added mango to it which I'm very allergic to. Since this was my second smoothie I just tossed it and left. Super unprofessional from start to finish and they clearly don't know the ratios here. They asked me to reach out on their website to right the situation. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I asked for a shot of wheatgrass and the employee instead of telling me they do not provide that, ignorantly looked at the next guest and said "I don't understand what he is saying" and proceeded to take their order. I love Tropical Smoothie but this particular location is so awful in every way. I remember when it first opened it was awesome, but that is a distant memory. Customer service is non existent. Most employees give off the vibe that they absolutely hate being there and hate you even more for walking into the cafe. No hello, no welcome, no "hey" (or even a yo). They just walk up to the register and stare at you. As for the drinks, there is zero consistency. Sometimes they taste good, sometimes OK, sometimes they taste like soap (not exaggerating). Lastly, the floor of the cafe where the employees work is usually dirty and they must have awful ventilation because you walk out with your clothes stinking of grease. Also, for months you couldn't order any drink at this location with blueberries. WTH? Every other TS Cafe had them. Again, love TSC but this cafe gives a bad rep with its poor customer service and poor food quality. read more

I placed an online order, the confirmation said my order would be ready in 10 minutes. 10 minutes later, I go into the cafe and the drinks aren't ready, after 20 minutes, I asked the man who never bothered to acknowledge me about the drinks and he mumbled something and walked away. At the 35 minute point, I asked about the drinks again and he yelled at me for "not saying anything" even though I did inquire, and he told me that he's been working since 11 am (it was 3:00) and is too busy to acknowledge customers. He would've continued yelling at me in front of my child and the other customers if I had not walked out of the restaurant. To add insult to injury, the order was placed online, so he basically got a tip for being rude and humiliating me. read more

It's pretty obvious that they're stretching out materials by serving smoothies that is over iced (really bland tasting or watery). Do yourself a favor and skip this location to not be disappointed. Great service and very nice decor for this tropical smoothie. Sunny Day's are my go to smoothies. My smoothie was made quickly and I had literally no wait time. Parking in this shopping center can be difficult, and you may not find parking right in front of the store. Lastly, I did notice that price of smoothies has gone up used to be like $4.89 with tax now they are $5.29 before tax which can be expected with the rise of food costs. read more

I love the smoothies here because of the different flavors, supplements and add-ins. I usually get a sunshine smoothie, but I've tried many of the flavors plus some wraps and flatbreads. This time I tried the Thai chicken bowl which was good. Not amazing, but good for only 380 calories. The staff was nice and helped me out right. read more

They must be going through staff changes because I love their food/ smoothies but hated going there due to rude staff/ horrendous customer service. My bf wanted to go grab a smoothie today so we went in and was immediately greeted by a short blonde hair girl. I think her name was Amanda? She was extremely kind when taking our order and apologized when our second smoothie came out late. With their old staff? They would've just stared at you when you approach the register and not say a word/ be super dismissive when you ask them a question about their menu. I remember one time I ordered an extra side of tomato salsa and paid for it then they refused to give it to me... crew that makes the food always seem pissed off for some reason but I am glad I didn't have to deal with one of their rude staff members. I used to love this location, but the last 1 or so year I believe the location has transferred owner (s). I have noticed a pattern of lack of sanitation and supplies in the ladies room/ restroom being out several times over the months. Recently - I purchased food items and noticed there was an issue with placing my order, and a promotion for 1 food get 1 free smoothie, I actually attempted to purchase 3 food items, (which would assume 3 free smoothies, but the order was not working/ error. I re - attempted for over 1 hour and rechecked to see if the order placement had been successful - unfortunately no, I went ahead and purchased my 3 food items without the smoothie promotion working. I spoke to the young lady at the counter, who did usually there most times when I have been there in the past to pick up/ order, and I asked her for her assistance, and explained the issue to her. I had to explain the very same problem with my order placement not recognizing the smoothie promotion, she was consistently refusing to listen. I felt unheard, and she never apologized, or offered to look into the problem to resolve it. Ultimately- I ended up waiting an additional 20-23 min in person in my attempt to get help from this young lady at the front counter/ register, received zero understanding of my problem, refused to listen to my/ customer concern, did not acknowledge what I was attempting to ask help for, did not apologize, and walked away from the front counter/ register area and left me standing there and did NOT return to the front counter. I wouid like to share this incident on here as this young lady's actions were not only disrespectful to me/ customer who is asking for help, in addition to the restroom sanitation/ neglected issue that I have seen as a pattern over the months, and just such a terrible experience (s) that I will not be returning to this location. The staff here is polite. I was unsure k what to get, and the cashier suggested a smothis that tasted pretty good! This was my first morning going to this particular location, and boy did I end up disappointed and disgusted. I left satisfied, on my way to work until I looked down just in time and noticed a BUG in my WRAP. Naturally, I nearly vomited. I dont usually bad mouth places, but this is something I couldn't let go. I promptly turned around and went back. The staff is personable, efficient and professional almost like a small town. They talk to you, get to know you, bring the food and drinks quickly to your table with a smile. The Jamaican jerk wrap is pretty good, I'm not going to lie. I ordered it without cheese because cheese is so unnecessary sometimes plus I try to stay away from that crack as much as possible. I asked for a whole wheat tortilla instead but they didn't have any. There were 3 people behind the counter and it probably took about 30 seconds for one of them to address me and take my order. I definitely wasn't feeling that. I understand tasking, but customer service takes precedence. My wrap was made in about 2-3 minutes and there was no one in front of me or behind me in line. Tropical smoothie always has coupons so I used the half off one I got on Flip Flop day. My wrap came to $3.59 with that and it comes with chips/fruit. I don't usually write negative reviews, but this situation seems like the right time. I order from a Tropical Smoothie Cafe in a different location somewhat regularly, so I decided to stop into this Fairfax Towne Center location assuming they'd be similar. The other location usually has no problem removing ranch from my orders for me (allergy), but the guy at this location looked at me like I was the plague. I was friendly too, and asked "can you please make this without the ranch?" I then waited for the order and watched him squeeze on the ranch :(. When he handed it to me, I double checked and it was loaded with ranch. I mentioned that I'd asked for no ranch and the guy said "I'd have done that if you'd have said it, but you didn't." He said it with a strong tone too, as if I'd been arguing and was a troublesome customer. So I just tossed it and didn't bother asking for it remade. I typically avoid conflict or making scenes. Such an awesome place to come to feel healthy. I usually do half and smoothie which is half sandwich/salad and full size smoothie. I tried the totally green today which was totally refreshing and delicious. Thai chicken salad was nice and zingy with little spice. This review is solely on mask wearing. I purchased an order on July 1, 2020 using my app. Walked over to pick my order up. Went inside, two employees were not wearing masks. I believe that's something most definitely inappropriate during COVID and I also believe that customers must start speaking with managers and sending emails when they see businesses not wearing masks.
