The food we ordered was delicious and the staff is quite pleasant. If you know what you want and natural Hot Chicken the way they prepare it is what you want, they do what they do very well. We visited for lunch on a weekday and the overall cost of our meal for two was somewhat higher than we reasonably expected at over $30. To keep it even that low we shared a drink. More to the point, though extremely tasty, there's no denying or getting around the fact that the signature cuisine is terrible for us health-wise. You can vary the degree of spice, but the food is extremely salty and deep fried. As retired 60 somethings, I realize that the target market is not our demographic, but we will not return for this simple reason. Decor the facility is on the industrial plastic side of things, certainly not the right home about. But you're not there for the atmosphere but for the food. And as I said, it's delicious. It does appear made to order and it does take a while for them to prepare it. I can imagine if they get crushed when times are busy.

The deli is just east off Main in a standalone building with a lovely brand new sign! There's plenty of parking across Main, and I think there's even a free shuttle around town on Sat and Sun. Their creative sandwiches are huge and fresh, made to order and worth a couple minutes wait. We got the Capisce: luscious pistachio pesto layered over thick slices of ripe tomato, generous slabs of fresh mozzarella, sliced red onion, and tender greens with balsamic vinaigrette between slices of their wonderful thin crunchy toasted focaccio bread. A refreshing vegetarian creation! And we had the Flora, because it starts with a bright green-olive tapenade which i just love! over those sweet juicy tomatoes, thick fresh mozz, a generous layer of richly flavorful thin-sliced dry-cured prosciutto ham, and lovely big hunks of roasted sweet red peppers, with their thinly sliced red onion and tender fresh greens with tangy vinaigrette, held by that perfectly lightly crunchy toasted fresh-tasting bread. We grabbed soft beverages from the cooler in their market and enjoyed our dinner with the concert. An interesting selection of grocery products, also produce, and a freezer of meats and fish, including their own branded bratwurst or sweet Italian pork sausage or chorizo, and pork sausages with duck or wild-boar or venison, and sliced leg of lamb and wild salmon! At this weekly outdoor concert (Fri and Sat), there's shaded tables set up, and they welcome you to grab food and drink here or at any of the surrounding places. We had just started a cool spell of perfect weather, so this was everything: good food, good weather, good times in historic Sykesville!

The bread is fresh and crusty, and the sandwich was warm, zesty, and so delicious! So big I saved half for later. Last visit I had the caprese also excellent and more mild if you don't go for spicy. Lovely blend of creamy fresh mozzarella, fresh greens, and tomatoes elevated with a perfect pesto. I picked this one up and packed it along for my Patapsco riverside jaunt (this place is steps away from the River) they also have a wide range of packable snacks and sweet or savory treats. There is also a small market, which includes deli meats for your homemade creations, most would be excellent choices for charcuterie boards. Cheeses are also available from the deli or via the specialty selections in the fridge. Cold drinks in the fridge. Casual ambiance with a small seating area...maybe encouraging you to consider a Ponder the Patapsco picnic? Lots of al fresco seating in old Sykesville too. Of course, say hi to Joe, especially if you have an Uncle Joe in your family.
