NEW MAPLE KISSED SWEET POTATOES
JD D.

Awesome place, clean & modern feel, and super friendly staff. With healthy choices (smoothies & salads) and comfort food (quesadillas & sandwiches), there's something for everyone. I recommend the Santa Fe chicken quesadilla. I'll be back for sure.

Morning smoothies

Stopped in real quick for a morning smoothie. I ordered the sunrise sunset because on the website, it said it was a fan favorite. my friend ordered the kiwi quencher based off the recommendation of the employees. My drink was alright. It was sweet and also pretty tart. I tried the kiwi quencher and that was much better. It was refreshing and sweet. The consistency was fine as well. No lumps or hard to drink. I wouldn't say they were the best tasting smoothies I've ever had but I would try some other ones if I am around the area.

Decided to get lunch at Beet Box for the first time yesterday. What a cool spot! Nestled between…read morethe buildings in the Arcade district, this brick and mortar has an amazing atmosphere, and a cool little secluded out door seating area too. The guy at the register gave me the full run down of the menu when I told him I'd never been in before which was appreciated. After I told him I was on a GLP one he told me I could get any of the wraps as a bowl, with the flatbread on the side! That way, I get my protein and less carbs. So I decided to get the chicken shawarma bowl. It had Chicken Shawarma, Cherry Tomatoes, a Pickled vegetable medley called torshi, mustard greens, babaganoush, white and green sauces in a salad bowl with my fresh flatbread on the side. I was in absolute heaven. The green sauce is to die for, but on this day they used fresh mustard greens that added a spiciness and unique flavor as well. The combination of everything was great. I have seen them made with apples in other posts which I hope to try one day. I loved this bowl so much, and honestly I'll be back for sure to try different things. Especially seeing as how they change their specials with the seasons.

I'll be honest--I had never even heard of Columbia, Missouri until a few weeks ago. So to say I had…read moreexpectations would be a flat-out lie. I couldn't have told you a single thing about this part of the country. But after one lunch at Beet Box, I'll be talking about Columbia for a long time. The Lamb & Eggs is an absolute masterpiece. On paper, it doesn't even sound like it should work. Then it shows up looking like a beautiful mess--a mishmash of flavors, textures, herbs, vegetables, creamy elements, perfectly fried eggs, and incredibly seasoned lamb. It feels like chaos... until you take the first bite. Then it all makes perfect sense. Every ingredient has a purpose, and somehow it all comes together in one of the most memorable dishes I've had in a very long time. As incredible as that bowl was, the Za'atar Fries with Harissa Mayo somehow stole the show. Crispy. Battered. Perfectly seasoned. Every single fry had that satisfying crunch on the outside while staying fluffy inside, and the harissa mayo was the perfect finishing touch. These aren't fries you order because you're looking to round out the meal. They're fries you'll be thinking about long after you leave. I came into Columbia knowing absolutely nothing about it. I left wondering how a place this good isn't on every food lover's radar. Beet Box isn't just a great lunch spot--it's a Godsend. Six stars...out of five!

My friends and I came in on a Sunday morning shortly before noon and were able to find parking…read moreoutside and get a table for 4. The place was extremely lively, which I kind of expect for a brunch place, but there was some serious energy here. The wait staff was buzzing around and I was particularly impressed that what I assume was management was also helping out on the service side pretty heavily. Anyways, I opted for some biscuits and gravy (solid A), scrambled eggs (B+), and breakfast potatoes (A-). I also needed to try the sweet/spicy chicken biscuit deal and while it was incredibly messy, it as very good (solid A). Overall this is a very very good little brunch spot and I would strongly recommend stopping in if you're local or happen to be passing through CoMo.

I really wasn't sure what to expect, but disappointed would be the result…read more The seating area is very open, and the place was about 1/3 full with a steady flow in and out. The menus are... overwhelming, the descriptions are complex, the print barely visible, but absurdly high prices for breakfast fare... $17 for a BLT biscuit???? I chose simple with the JoJo's special of just eggs, potatoes and gravy biscuit. The eggs were cooked well and to my liking, but the potatoes had a very off flavor that I just could not take, and did not finish them (nor even take them to go). The gravy biscuit was... okay. Still had some kind of herb either in the gravy or in the biscuit that wasn't very appealing. My wife chose the "avocado" toast which was piled very high with mixed salad greens? Then a very light spread of avocado hiding underneath. For $17... At least the coffee was piping hot and flavorful. I'm afraid this is a once and done. I do not recommend this place at all.
