    Grand Opening today!
    Celeste B.

They just had the grand opening and were giving away smoothies for $1.99 all day! I got the Beach Bum and it was strawberry, banana and chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised to hear when they gave me the option between white or dark chocolate. I had never tried the white chocolate so I opted for that and it was delicious! They only have one size but for $5 you get a lot! They also have hot food like sandwiches and flatbreads. So if you're looking for a healthier option to go along with your smoothies, this is a great spot. I'll definitely have to check out their food offerings next time!

Came with fries and soup of the day. 2nd time here I ordered something else. Just plain average diner food. But ordered the steak again for my third time and was impressed once again. Kept coming back, if only for that one standout. Been here at least a dozen times, ordering the steak to go mostly (actually sat down with family twice). Sadly, subsequent steaks were not as consistent. Often, they are tough. Once, they forgot the jalapeños. But twice now, they've messed up my soup. I never tasted their minestrone, despite having ordered it twice (not counting a third time where it was eaten by a family member). Got cream of chicken rice both times. WTF is wrong with these people? Less than a mile from home, great service. They just don't know how to make steak or differentiate between soups (Hint: Minestrone is reddish-brown, cream of chicken rice is white). Really gave this place too many second chances based on my first 2 steak experiences (and a few other ones scattered in between the non-acceptables). Today, not only shoe-leather steak, but the wrong soup once again.

While the manager and server were apologetic and took the meal off the tab, it really ruined the meal for all of us. I think we should have had the entire check dismissed. But we will give them another try as the chef may have had a bad day.

Street parking may be hard to get but public parking lot nearby. Food was excellent, I had the foxtail paella, plump shrimp, mussels, sausage veggies and orzo instead of rice made it feel creamier, full portions. The "big wood" was a tasty whiskey drink, but the Negroni was a little too bitter. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. The pork belly, ciabatta, and balsamic were all good individually, but together the flavors just didn't work. It felt mismatched... * Colorado lamb kebab: 10/10. This is one of the more $$ entrées on the menu, but it's absolutely worth it. The portion was generous, the lamb was high quality, and the artichoke pesto paired really well with the rich, gamey flavor. The roasted pearl onions were a great addition too. I would definitely recommend this dish. * Foxtail paella: 8/10 flavorful orzo paella loaded with seafood. Definitely a sharing type of entree! Always a great time at Foxtail with great food and great service!

Over the past few months we've worked our way through both the sweet and savory sides of the menu, trying favorites like the Strawana, Signature, Dubai Chocolate, Alfredo Chicken, All American, and Mediterranean crêpes. While we've enjoyed them all, the Strawana remains the one we keep coming back for. This is a small, family-owned Eastern European café with welcoming staff, and that warmth adds to the experience every time. Seating inside is limited, though they offer outdoor seating during the warmer months. Most of our visits have been takeout, and the quality has been consistently excellent, making it an easy choice whether we're eating there or taking it home. If you're in the Downers Grove area and looking for a casual place with delicious crêpes and genuine hospitality, this local gem is well worth a visit.

As soon as I walked in I felt the love from the staff members. This cafe is designed beautifully with a kiddie play corner. They also have outdoor seating when weather permits. Staff members are extremely kind and made me feel like family. The food and drinks? STOPPPPP! I started with the tiramisu coffee and it was game changer. The right amount of sweet with the perfect amount of coffee flavor as well. For my crepe I had the Mediterranean bliss and there's a reason why it's their best seller. SO DELICIOUS! Everything is made with high quality ingredients and prepared carefully and with all the love. The way they even present everything is wonderfully beautiful. The portion is very generous and pricing is fair. It took about 10-15 minutes for everything to be prepared and it is absolutely worth the short wait time.

I requested our group to be placed in a corner since we were dining in with 2 kids and an infant who would be sitting in a stroller. She had said they were fully booked and a different party needed the table I was eyeing since they would be coming in with 3 strollers. I was there from 9am-11am on a Friday and it was not packed nor did a family use the table I wanted while I was there. No one came in with 3 strollers either. Aside from that, I was trying to be helpful so the stroller wouldn't get in the way of customers and wait staff. The host basically made it harder for them, not me. I started with the hazelnut oat mocha and this was delicious. This was the highlight of my time there. For food I tried the Shakshouka and it was not good. The pouched eggs were not cooked. From my pictures - it looks like the eggs were cracked in the dish and the chef called it a day. I didn't chance eating it, I ate the pita it came with and left very hungry. I'm giving Beatrix a generous 2 due to the space being beautiful and my latte being great. Unfortunately this is not a spot I'll be returning to.

You could drive right by thinking it was a vacant building except for all the cars in the lot. The notion of vacant building is dispelled immediately upon entry. The place is busy, loud, vibrant with customers clearly enjoying the food and experience. The interior is decorated simply, with muted colors, is well lit, and clean. There are a lot of hard surfaces which makes the ambient noise level fairly high; however, it did not detract from the experience (but just be advised in case you feel this is bothersome). We were greeted warmly and though the place was packed, we were seated quickly. Despite the diner-like vibe, there is no counter, just tables and booths. Our server was prompt, very pleasant, and efficient. The coffee was hot and flavorful. The food: Large portions, well prepared, warm, savory, satisfying. The loaded Cheers omelette, with hash browns and pancakes, was more food than I could enjoy in one sitting so I have leftovers for tomorrow. Prices are in line with more reasonably priced independent eateries. A two-egg, hash browns, pancake combo is $14. This place will be an option in the future.

For the breakfast catered order, it was the following -Crepes with Fruit -Biscuits -Bacon -Sausage I liked the concept of catered crepes, especially with all of the fresh fruit like strawberries, but it didn't hold up well. The crepes were soggy. I think it was because it was in the container for so long and with the moisture. The flavor was good though! I enjoyed the biscuits. They were super scrumptious. I think there was a side of honey butter and it really blended well with the biscuits. The bacon and sausage was good too. I typically like my bacon extra crispy, but these slices from Tasty Biscuit were pretty good! I think next time I'm in Chicago, I'll have to go inside the restaurant and have breakfast!
