Theres a whole lot of buzz words I could use and seriously he'd fit them all. Knowledgeable,…read moreproficient, extraordinary... etc. If he hits a problem in the earth he talks out options with you and gives his recommendations. Hes not some money hungry sleezeball and I appreciate that. My install isn't even completely done and I am already thinking of the next thing I could use his hand with. Hes not going to rope you around and the "this is how it is" easy honesty is appreciated. The work looks great its functional and I cant wait for summer nights to enjoy it.

Of the ones who did respond, only a few were willing to come out and do a free estimate. And of those, Jim from Campbell Fencing was the fastest, and was able to come out and give me an estimate the same day I called. He was willing to take the time to ask questions to get an idea of exactly what I wanted. He seemed knowledgeable about his work. And his pricing was competitive with the other contractors ($16/linear foot for 6' cedar privacy fencing as of 6/2018). Given that he seemed both professional and responsive to my inquiries, I went with him for the job and I'm glad I did. He showed up when he said he would, kept me updated as the project moved along, and did nice work. Every post was set in concrete, fence lines were straight, and the end result looked nice.

Cascade was great to work with - they have you video your project, send it in and they get you an…read moreestimate. Pretty slick. They came out to talk thru the project and discussed options but no hard sell (which I appreciate). They assign a project manager (Blake in my case) to coordinate and keep things on schedule. However, the heroes of the project were Michael + Jonathan who built our fence. The took out the prior fence and checked in with our 96 yr old neighbor that we share the fence with to make sure he approved. He did! The walked me thru the finished fence and even added a "puppy protector" mini fence to keep our dog contained. They were super respectful, kind and FAST. It looks great and with the great warranty, we couldn't be happier.

What a Nightmare!…read more Our experience with Cascade Fence & Deck was frustrating and exhausting. We paid nearly $48,000 for a deck, expecting quality workmanship, professionalism, and clear communication. Unfortunately, that was far from our experience. From the beginning, communication was poor, scheduling was inconsistent, and we had serious concerns about the quality of the work. We observed uneven decking, excessive fraying, poorly cut or damaged boards, improperly installed fasteners, and a worksite that was repeatedly left in unacceptable condition. These are issues that should have been caught and corrected by the company, not repeatedly pointed out by the homeowners. We specifically requested an in-house crew, yet subcontractors were sent instead. This was particularly frustrating because we had made our preference clear from the beginning. We were so dissatisfied with their workmanship and conduct that we eventually asked for them to be removed from the project. What bothered us most was that the company wasn't proactively offering to correct the problems we identified. I had to repeatedly push and demand that issues be addressed. We shouldn't have had to fight for basic workmanship standards on a project costing nearly $48,000. The attached photos shows how the property was left on a day the crew wasn't even scheduled to work. This wasn't an isolated incident. Our property was left in similar conditions for more than half of the project. We found the worksite messy and unsafe, and it was disappointing to see so little consideration for our home. We identified more than 30 areas of excessive fraying throughout the deck. When I raised concerns, I was told a good pressure washing would take care of it. Considering this is finished composite decking, I found that response concerning. Only some of the workmanship issues shown in the attached photos were ever addressed. Even after a new crew came in to finish the project, there were still problems. The skirting boards were damaged, the skirting door rubbed against its frame, and the door handle was already damaged. The photos show the condition of these areas immediately after the project was completed, not after months of use. It's incredibly disappointing that these issues remained even after the company had an opportunity to make things right. We also experienced a lack of transparency and what we felt was dishonesty regarding the permitting and inspection process. We repeatedly had to ask questions, seek clarification, and request updates before eventually involving company leadership. I spent an unbelievable amount of time documenting concerns, emailing employees, following up, and monitoring the project. We thought we hired professionals. Instead, I felt like I had to oversee the work myself just to make sure our concerns were taken seriously. My husband and I value our time, and we certainly didn't expect to spend this much of it managing a company we hired to do a job. Although some efforts were eventually made to correct certain problems, we remain disappointed with the finished product. There are scratches on the decking, unresolved workmanship concerns, and questions about how certain areas will hold up over time. What made this experience especially frustrating wasn't just the workmanship. It was the lack of accountability, inconsistent communication, and the fact that we had to continually advocate for issues to be corrected rather than the company taking the initiative. Once trust was lost, it became difficult to feel confident in the work being done. I do appreciate the individuals who eventually made an effort to address our concerns. However, those efforts don't change the overall experience or the condition of the finished product. We documented the entire project through photographs, videos, and written communication. I strongly encourage anyone considering Cascade Fence & Deck to carefully review their contract, confirm whether an in-house crew or subcontractors will be performing the work, stay involved throughout the project, and document everything. Better yet, find a company you don't have to micromanage that isn't a HACK. For nearly $48,000, we expected a much better experience and a finished product we could feel good about. Instead, what should have been an exciting home improvement project turned into weeks of unnecessary stress, frustration, and disappointment. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Cascade Fence & Deck.

They…read moreended up taking care of some major rot damage for us as well that was found throughout the process. There are pros and cons with every contracting team and this is what I can let you know: Pros: Kai is excellent at communicating with you throughout the project and does his best to keep on a timely schedule. They were definitely fair priced in my opinion after receiving several bids. I was very happy with his tilers and electricians. Really everyone I came across with was enjoyable to work with. They would be willing to come by on weekends or stay late to stay on schedule. Overall I was very happy with how my kitchen and master bathroom turned out. Due to all the rot we found we also sought legal action against the previous owner of our home and Kai was more than willing to do whatever we needed to help us for that. Cons: I did read another review on here about them needing improvement on finish work and I would have to agree. Everything was really good in my opinion except for touch ups on paint and interior trim work. I found trim to have dents or scratches and touch up paint that just looked pretty bad. Basically when the lights are on you can see every little spot because instead of covering the one nail hole there would be patches of whatever wax/filler was used. Of course this stuff was shinier than the actual trim so it's pretty noticeable. HOWEVER, when Kai became aware of these concerns (months later) he was more than willing to send someone out for more touch up, but by that point I was doing it myself because I accepted I just wouldn't be happy with the result otherwise. The crew also didn't clean up that great where cabinets were installed. Dust isn't an issue, but when drawers and doors are installed on the cabinets I would think it be nice if the chunks of wood could have been vacuumed up before they became hard to reach. Also some miscommunications occurred with his employees about what we wanted, but those were taken care of as well. Despite the cons I still give them a 5 star rating because if they made mistakes they were more than willing to rectify them which I find very respectable. I only list the cons so that future clients know to stay on top of those things. Kai is more than willing to make sure the customer is satisfied. Thank you First Finishers!
