Our experience with Rainier Fence was very unfavorable at best. It started when they wouldn't honor their original estimate claiming that the sales rep, Austin Tew had misquoted us. That should have been our first clue. The installation went well except for the fact that the two-man crew (who didn't speak English), left behind a lot of debris including a large pile of hardened cement, a pile of dirt from the post holes, and screws and nails. Over the course of 2 1/2 weeks following installation, several phone calls, texts, and emails were sent to have the debris removed but to no avail. The sales rep, Austin Tew chose to ghost us. Only after an email to the CEO, Mr. Niel Archibald did the debris get cleaned up. Another 2 weeks go by without any notification of when the fence would be stained. Again, Mr Tew would not return our calls or email. Suddenly we received an email from Mr. Archibald indicating he was cancelling our contract to have our fence stained claiming they had a "scheduling problem". This was just as well as we found a qualified contractor to do the staining for half the price. We will NEVER use or recommend Rainier Fence & Decking to anyone!! If anyone chooses to have Rainier build their fence, they would be at risk of receiving the quality of customer service that is severely lacking in trust and integrity. read more

$17k job to replace our old fence and gate. The job was barely average work. I'm still finding concrete wash in my backyard. I've had to chip out my drip lines. Rainier boasts about their wood quality, but I'm looking at multiple warped boards and split caps. The boards are short and the gate sags. Local dogs are crawling under the fence easily. They also punctured my irrigation system repeatedly. The crew was shown the location of the pipes and still ran up over $1000 in repairs at my expense. After multiple other property damage claims, they took ownership of a single irrigation breakage. Their shoddy repair failed within a year. They couldn't be bothered with a slip fix and just split the difference on either end, leaving the pipe seated only halfway into either coupling. Of course it failed. After Doug ghosted me for a month, I had decided to see what their price was for abandoning a customer. Doing the fix myself cost $23 in parts and less than an hour of work. If I was getting a wage, I'm betting this fix was under $100 if Rainier decided to be accountable. After charging $17k for building a mediocre fence, it would have been smart to make right on their mistakes. Rainier's product and ethic is virtually identical to that fella your buddy knows that'll do it on the cheap. They'll both try to worm out of their mistakes and outright ghost you if given the chance. If you hire Rainier, mark your irrigation lines clearly and good luck patching it up anyway. read more

I spent thousands of dollars on a new fence. Their warranty is one year, I think it should be more but ok. My fence was built in October of 2022. I wanted them to use screws instead of nails, they told me they use nails that do not back out. the nails in my fence look like regular nails, not nails that are supposed not back out. I painted my fence in the summer of 2023, no issues up to this point. I went to paint my fence again and found that not only was the fence panels were pulling apart, but they also pulled away from the posts up to 2-3 inches. I called them about my concerns, they said someone would contact me. It's been 9 business days, I was told every time I called, I was going to get a call back, twice I was told they would call back that day. Almost 2 weeks and no one has called back. I even was given a project managers phone number to send pictures so they could see what I was talking about, still no call back. I believe that once they have your money they do not care about their workmanship or the quality, or their reputation about the work they do. In my opinion, no one should use this company if they want quality that will last more than 2 1/2 years. read more

Rainier Fencing is the absolute WORST customer service and quality fencing company in all of Greater Seattle! 1. The WORST customer service - Before my fence collapsed about 3 weeks ago, I called Rainier Fencing for an estimate for them to come out and see if they can better secure my fence. Neil Archibald is the person that came out for the estimate work. Like others who commented about never hearing back from them, I can attest to it that it is all true. Every week I would call Neil, and NOT ONCE did he return my call. I called the office and they would say that Neil is either out with another customer or working on another project but again, Neil would never return my call or give me an estimate that he came out to do in the first place. If this is how they treat a repeated customer, think about how they would treat their new customers!!! Once they get your money, you can expect they will never be heard of again. 2. The absolute WORST quality and craftsmanship - Fast forward to today in less than 4 years, our fence finally collapsed due to the no action taken by Rainier Fencing. 4 years ago, we had Rainier Fencing came out and built a fence for us for our backyard. A normal fence would last 10 to 15 years but not ours, at least not one built by Rainier Fencing, it didn't even make it to 4 years. After our fence collapsed, I was able to inspect our fence and saw that the posts they put in had ONLY gone 1 FEET into the ground and they secured it with ONLY 1 bag of cement. Knowing that we are up in the hills in a windy area, they should have dug deeper and secure the posts with more cement. This proofs how incompetent these guys are what kind of craftsmanship you can expect if you go with Rainier Fencing. Best contractor I've ever had. Will definitely do business with them in the future. A storm took out my original fence recently, so Rainier was one of the companies that I contacted for an estimate for repairs. I also asked for an estimate for a new fence, and a couple of other combinations, which they readily accommodated. The original fence I had in place was built by an incompetent contractor who made many mistakes. After careful consideration, I decided to go with Rainier to replace my misshapen fence with a brand new one. Some important highlights: - They have an administrator (Lisa) who takes care of communications. This turns out to be a huge help, because you can contact them without fear of interrupting their work or them being 'too busy' to take your call. She usually responds the same day by email, and if you call during business hours, always answers her phone. - They have a physical office in Auburn, which makes it very easy to just drop by and talk to them at your convenience, drop off payment, sign paperwork, etc.. I prefer in-person communication myself, and this makes it very easy to deal with them. - Doug came out to perform the estimate exactly on time, and provided a written estimate within a couple of days. The price was very reasonable, and considerably more detailed than other contractors I contacted for the same job. - I like unambiguous paperwork. The estimate they provided was more detailed than other contractors, it had specific responsibilities of all partiers, spelled out in the contract (other contractors flat out refused to put some of this stuff in writing), and on top of that was a lower price estimate. - The job was estimated to take 2 days. They showed up exactly on time, and finished exactly on time. The fence is BEAUTIFUL. - I didn't have to lift a finger. They did literally everything. - The workmanship is very solid. They used oversized posts which will last longer, and made sure the fence isn't touching any dirt (which can cause rot). They also properly mixed the concrete for posts, which sounds like a small thing, but a lot of contractors 'forget' to do this. They hauled all the unsightly debris offsite so I didn't have to deal with it. Some advice for anyone looking to do fence work: - If you are building a new wood fence, be sure to ask them for what they recommend. They'll do anything you want, but they'll let you know if what you're asking for is unreasonable or a bad idea. They've been doing this for a long time and have a lot of experience and opinions built up, they can help you figure out what looks 'good'. - Be picky. Ask them for exactly what you want your fence to look like. In my case, I don't like knots in my wood -- when I said this, they recommended 'clear' cedar and am very happy with the look, and it barely affected the price at all. Want a particular color? they can color match anything. - If replacing a fence, make sure to clarify any upgrades you want, especially exactly what style of gates you want beforehand. In my case I forgot to tell them that I wanted round top gates, and so they replaced the gate with the same as what was originally there: flat tops. It still looks good, but just remember to specify as much detail as you want beforehand so that you'll be completely happy with your fence. read more

Interesting enough the 1st review I read about Rainer Fencing is exactly what I am going through. They did the fencing for our neighborhood and was recommended. I reached out and crickets! I went through their website and requested a estimate a week ago and never got a reply. Just foreshadowing of the customer service from this company. Let alone the fences they have done, seem to already start withering in less than a year since they have been put up. These guys came and did a great job on a fairly large and complex residential job. We wanted an automated roller gate, and almost 500 feet of powdered chain link fence. The estimate was done professionally, and the guys who did the work cleared brush, sunk posts, and ran the fence in about 3 days. The gates took a little longer. They were very responsive to our requests to make a few dog-sized holes along the bottom of the fenceline smaller. They contracted out for the gate automation. We are thrilled with the job that Rainier did. Update 2/2/17: Rainier helped us out on 2 modifications to our fence and a modification due to neighbor lawsuit. They were great and were happy to help us multiple times to tweak two kinds of fencing to our needs. read more

Well, I don't like to give bad reviews, but due to the fact they came out and looked at the job we had on building our back deck over the standing foundation (which was still good), they never got back to us via e-mail, phone, text, etc. I don't mind if they felt our job wasn't big enough, but be courteous enough to at least get back to us and let us know you weren't interested. Too bad, as we tend to use the same contractor over and over and need new windows installed and our house painted out and in, and on and on. Will never contact them again. I would definitely recommend Rainier Fencing & Decking. They just finished a 650 sq. ft. 2nd story deck and our dock. I had four bids (two other fence & deck companies and one general contractor) and Doug's (Rainier's estimator) was the most reasonable. Doug was very personable and hands on and he has been in the business a long time a really knows what he's talking about. He came by at least four times during construction to make sure things were going well and was responsive and made sure things were done to our expectations. Jose was the lead builder assisted by Loren. They were on time, did careful and skilled construction, did good clean-up and were extremely personable, friendly and polite. Should we have need of any further fencing or deck needs, Rainier would be the first place I'd call. read more

A very unprofessional company. I called them regarding a deck repair. After coming to see my deck, they told me that they would email me a quote for the repairs in 2 days, but never did. 2.5 WEEKS later, I called the company and asked about my quote. I was told that I would need to wait another two days for an actual quote. When I asked for the reason for the delay, I was told that the contractor has been very behind with his paperwork. I still have yet to receive the estimated quote. Do not try to hire this company. They are not professional and do not deserve any business. If they cannot even get their act together to provide an estimate on a work job (because they are 3 weeks behind on paperwork) then why trust them with to do work on your home? Maybe they thought the job was "too small" for them and decided to just put it on the back burner. If this is how they treat everyday customers, it is a true disappointment. We had many other renovations that needed to be done in our home, in addition to this deck repair- but we were testing the water by just asking them about the deck. They showed their true colors and I am glad we will NOT be working with them. read more

This was a terrible company to deal with. They put a fence and gate up and when I had problems they would not return my emails, phone calls, etc. The gate that they put up warped...they finally (after months of emails and phone calls) put up another one and that one warped, just like the first one. They never did answer my emails, phone calls concerning the second gate which was very frustrating that they did not stand behind their work and had horrible customer service. I made an appointment for a deck & fence estimate for 12:00 today. They said Doug would be doing the estimate. Completely NO-SHOWED us. No phone call or anything. WOW! Not impressed at all! Rainier just finished a beautiful ornamental steel fence on our condominium building. Gorgeous!! After seeing the job they did on a neighboring condominium, I telephoned their HOA and they gave them a very high recommendation. They were prompt and on-time for the appointment and followed up with an estimate within a couple of days. Great Service. I called to schedule my free estimate for a fence installation and got an appointment time 2 weeks out (their soonest slot). When the time of my appointment with Doug came and went and no one had shown up I called and emailed with no answer until 2.5 hours after my appointment. I was told there was a problem on one of their job sites and he could come out in the evening instead. He did show up. He took measurements and scribbled down numbers in a little notebook and said he would be in the office 2 days later to email me a quote. It has been 9 days since then and I still don't have a quote. Luckily I had a couple of other companies come out who wrote me bids on the spot. I was so disappointed with the lack of professionalism displayed by Rainier. Great service and quality product. Highly recommend this company for all your fencing needs. We had a fence installed between our neighbors. Called Rainier Fencing and got a quote the very next day. They were willing to work with us on design and pricing. As neighbors we split the cost of the fence and Rainier Fencing was professional in sending a separate invoice to each neighbor. This was helpful since we decided on adding two gates and the cost was included on our invoice only. They use high quality fence boards, posts and gate hardware. Their crew showed up on time and was friendly, respectful and very clean and tidy (making sure everything was picked up at the end of each day). The crew worked with us on the placement of our gate hardware and asked our opinion before moving forward with anything that arose on our lot.
