They immediately made us feel at home and provided us with one of the best customer service experiences we've ever had. And then the food was amazing too, and the town a reflection of paradise. It was even conveniently located just a step away from Romsdalsgondolen, the place we had stopped in Andalsness to see and experience. Norway has a special way of making random, unexpected discoveries incredibly perfect, and running into this magical place certain was a great example of that! I highly recommend everyone visiting Trollstigen, Geiranger, and/or Romsdalsgondolen to definitely make a stop here, talk to the people, grab a glass of wine, and something to eat. Geiranger is the smaller of the two with only 250 residents, but it's Norway's third largest cruise ship port. It definitely felt like it when Jamie W. and I were there during a two-hour stop on our fjord cruise from Ålesund (review: https://bit.ly/3ckj0Zb). Beyond looking at the torrent that courses through town, we didn't much to do but eat. Options were pretty limited unless you want a hot dog. Like real bad. This cafe is on the main pedestrian walkway between the campground parking and the cruise ship terminal, and we weren't that hopeful of its quality based on its prime location. It was also drawing a lot of loudish tourists from various nations, and they weren't mindful of either the noise they were making or the excessive space they were taking. It was enough to test the limits of my butt-clenching abilities. However, we were pretty delighted by what we ordered and shared. Floor shakes when people walk up on it since the building is raised. Made me queasy after a long car ride. There is also a nice patio outside for dining. There was only one woman working so it took a while to take our orders and serve the food as there were quite a few other guests, but she was nice and we didn't mind waiting 20 or so minutes.

We of course got strawberry cake and coffee. The cake turned out to be mostly cream --- one strawberry inside, and another halved as decoration, with a lackluster sauce. We'd been hoping for much more fruit, but perhaps we were being unrealistic. The coffee was weak, and offered somewhat stiffer rates for refills than most places. The blond wood and historic art is atmospheric, but the soft-rock soundtrack kills any homey vibe. I'll look elsewhere for coffee and cake.
