They immediately made us feel at home and provided us with one of the best customer service experiences we've ever had. And then the food was amazing too, and the town a reflection of paradise. It was even conveniently located just a step away from Romsdalsgondolen, the place we had stopped in Andalsness to see and experience. Norway has a special way of making random, unexpected discoveries incredibly perfect, and running into this magical place certain was a great example of that! I highly recommend everyone visiting Trollstigen, Geiranger, and/or Romsdalsgondolen to definitely make a stop here, talk to the people, grab a glass of wine, and something to eat. You won't be disappointed! I frankly can't wait to go back!

They have various soups, sandwiches, and other cafe items--I had the reindeer soup and thought it was overall pretty decent. The meat was very gamey and the soup was heartwarming. They provide jam for you to add to the soup which I thought was interesting (my American tastebuds could never) which added a nice unique flavor to the soup. The atmosphere is amazing though. That's why most people come here. The all glass exterior looking out to the remote country is gorgeous and I would just grab a coffee and spend hours reading a book here or something.

We liked the cake, but honestly we were a little let down, because that afternoon, we sampled the apple cake in the cafe of the Ålesund Aquarium. Surprisingly, the apple cake at the aquarium was way better, as the cake was a nice pound cake with lots of layered apples on top and in the cake. The apple cake at a Lyspunktet is lighter and doesn't contain that much apple. Overall though, great meal at Lyspunktet, highly recommend!

There is also so much seating, tables and couches, and even some seating outside of the establishment as well. This is a great place to enjoy a cozy atmosphere, there are candles everywhere and cute decorations. The service is great as well, I have never had any barista here be rude to me as a foreigner and I really appreciate that. All in all, whether you're getting coffee to go, or sitting at the cafe, the experience is very hospitable :)

The Norwegian currency has devalued about 20% from last year as its currency is linked to oil/gas prices so it's good for tourists, for now in a volatile world where the only constant is change. They have WiFi and clean restrooms. They also have free tap water so Starbucks Southampton England take note (they charged me for a plastic cup of tap water there in Summer 2022 - they marked the cup H2O and they later apologised but it broke my being loyal to the brand.) On our first visit we sat at a cosy table and despite having lots of customers it was delightfully quiet. It was a first for us here, as upon ordering I was told that the wait for two cappuccino was 15 minutes and I was handed one of those electronic buzzers that I've only been given on cruise ships before now. The odd thing was that I was the only one at the counter ordering. Hey-ho we had nothing to do that day so we watched the world go by. On our second visit it was another cosy table and cappuccino again. We were also handed the ubiquitous buzzer and waited about 20 minutes again. This time we also shared a portion of tasty apple cake (more cake than apple) with ice cream and whipped cream. Certainly recommend this slow place.

It confirmed that an American should never order a burger in Europe. That's rather a broad stroke but we live in Europe and trust me, he has made this mistake many times. The beef just is too lean, causing a rock hard over cooked patty in this case. It was served on a bun that disintegrated into bread crumbs ( perhaps the kitchen might consider toasting the bun before serving). I had a Taco Salad. It piqued my curiosity. The pork was in little cubes that were spicy in a flavorful way, with rocket salad under it (which sort of cooked from the heat of the meat and sauce.) on the edge of the plate was a glob of mango from a jar. The flavor combinations were okay, and since this all sat on a huge papadan, inedible, the effect of all this soy sauce was Bangkok does tex mex. there was not one ingredient reminiscent of south of the border chilli spices, onion..etc. so again, this was an American thinking that something quite different was going to be on the plate. Oh well, it wasn't bad, just a surprise. Also ordered a small plate of focaccia with aioli which came after the main course, effectively it was toasted bread (over $5 for four slices). This restaurant is on the harbor across from the shopping center and parking seemed to free up often enough. Our bill for three, including a beer and a coke, was over the equivalent of 75 dollars. I would recommend having a beer out on the deck (views!) and then going elsewhere to eat. Oh, we wanted the enticing Mussels in cream for lunch, but they were "out" so we needed to order a second choice.
