I think overall the food and beverages here are what you'd expect from your average cafe--nothing mind blowing but will definitely be sufficient to your overall needs. They have various soups, sandwiches, and other cafe items--I had the reindeer soup and thought it was overall pretty decent. The meat was very gamey and the soup was heartwarming. They provide jam for you to add to the soup which I thought was interesting (my American tastebuds could never) which added a nice unique flavor to the soup. The atmosphere is amazing though. That's why most people come here. The all glass exterior looking out to the remote country is gorgeous and I would just grab a coffee and spend hours reading a book here or something. read more

cafe valldalsveien 1425, 6210 sylte NORWAY Gudbrandsjuvet Cafe This is the place where I felt the trustworthiness of Norwegians the most. My husband and I left our passports and wallets with cash here, and we found them the next day as if nothing had happened. I still can't forget the warmth of the cafe. The kind and relaxed attitude when you returned our bags will remain in my memory for the rest of my life. This must be a place where clean and clear fairies live. I want to express my gratitude once again, and I regret that I didn't take better care of them that day read more
While driving to Trollstigen, Gudbrandsjuvet is a really marvelous natural wonder where you can chill and enjoy some coffee, and listen to and watch the rushing waters that surround this pristine area. The Gudbrandsjuvet Cafe building itself is a modern architectural marvel of glass and concrete. The design and look of the place just screams secret lair of a Norwegian Bond villain. The food item of choice that everyone raves about is the cafe's signature cinnamon bun. When I initially arrived at the cafe, I didn't see any of the magical buns in their display case, so I asked the lady behind the counter in my best Sir Mix-a-lot voice: "Have you got buns, hun?" She immediately slapped me across the face... JK. She pointed at their buns and I realized that they didn't sell the standard American cinnamon buns like from Cinnabon, but their buns were actually like hand-folded bread buns. They also had some fresh hazelnut rolls cooling on a rack, so we decided to order one of the cinnamon buns and a couple of the nutty rolls. The cinnamon bun was light and sweet, it was a very pleasant experience, especially with the surrounding scenery of the cafe. One of these buns is definitely not going to leave you diabetic, cavity-stricken, or too sugar crashy in a few hours like an American Cinnabon with extra icing from your local mall. I personally thought that their hazelnut rolls were the main event TBH. These rolls were full of hazelnutty flavor and they were actually soft and moist. I honestly thought the rolls were gonna be dry and tough like stale week-old bread, but they exceeded my expectations! If you're a fan of hazelnuts, you simply must try one of these delicious nutlicious rolls! As a bonus, before you leave, you should also check out the bathrooms of the cafe as they're just as uniquely designed as the rest of the cafe. Heck, I might say that the designer went overkill and they ended up going into "design over function" territory (which is unfortunate for a WC). But maybe I'm just a simpleton, because I did ask myself "Where are the stalls?" and "Do I pee in that hole?" when I initially entered. read more

Lovely cafe between Trollstigen and Geiranger. Great coffee and great homemade cinnamon buns. Located on the side of a roaring river. What a nice treat we had when we both were in the mood for a hot drink and a bit of food. read more

By far one of our favorite pit stops on our roadtrip from Bergen to Trollstingen. Husband and I enjoyed hot, delicious coffee and shared a yummy homemade cinnamon swirl. We appreciated the warmth, the modern scandi interior, and the lovely view the cafe offered. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area read more
