A cozy and small restaurant in Geiranger that was perfect for our party of 8. There's plenty of items on the menu to service most people, ranging from pizzas, burgers, and traditional entree dishes. I ordered the rainbow trout and tartar was decently pleased. The fish quality is top tier and well worth the value and price that they put out for their menu items. The only thing I felt like was that the dishes could've used a bit more seasoning and flavor--a bit too subtle for my taste for amazing cuts of seafood. We've stayed in Geirangerford for three nights, and finally ventured downtown to have dinner at one of the local restaurants instead of our hotel. I must say that everything was crowded and we had trouble finding a table at multiple restaurants and we settled into this location because they had tables, but we did have to sit outside. The weather was Rainey, but we had a nice cozy table that kept us dry. The service was fantastic, and had absolutely no issues with that. The best part of the meal was clearly the rainbow trout, it tasted so delicious and reminded me of the best Salmon I've ever had. The plate was served with a wide assortment of locally grown fresh vegetables. To top off the meal, we each had a dessert, and they featured locally grown Norwegian, strawberries. The absolute best meal we had in Norway. This cozy restaurant had it all! It is small, warm and inviting for a chilly day. The special Sea Trout was out of this world! One of those life long memory meals...the fresh farm to table vegetables...oh my...it was an absolutely perfect meal. My husband had the fish soup which he also raved about!! As you can see by the empty plates this was a meal to remember. It was a busy spot but the wait was short and we were seated and served in no time! This is easily the best restaurant I've experienced in Norway so far. It's a small restaurant with a small menu but everything on the menu is excellent. Our catered lunch for 34 people was superb. The main was sea trout with Hollandaise sauce along with roast potatoes, asparagus and a carrot puree. The fish was cooked just the way I like it, slightly medium/medium rare. Dessert was Panna Cotta with a generous berry/nut topping. It was so good we went back for dinner. We ordered fish soup and pizza. The soup was excellent. Generous portions of fish, shellfish and vegetables in light cream broth. The only downside was it was a huge portion for being a starter. The pizza was good too. We tried the brownie for dessert which was accompanied with berries, nuts and ice cream. The brownie was more fudge like than cakie but still good. It was so huge we couldn't finish it The alcohol selections are extensive and the service is great. Highly recommend. read more

Omg food here is so good, even the side vegetables are very cooked. We finished the entire plate clean. The grilled lamb is very tender and without the strong taste. Brasserie Posten is so good that we went twice during our stay in Gerainger. We were lucky enough to get seating both times without reservations but if we had shown up maybe 30 minutes later than we did, we wouldn't have been able to be seated. Reservations would definitely be recommended. On our first visit we had the duck confit and a fish plate. Both had incredible presentation and tasted absolutely delicious! They have a very good variety of canned/bottled beers available in the fridge (with some on the more expensive side) and also a few on tap which seems to be hard to find in Norway. The second visit we ordered a pizza which was also delicious.. inhaled it without taking a picture! There are a handful of options to choose from in the small town of Gerainger but Brasserie Posten is definitely the top recommendation from me. Must visit! read more

If you are in Geiranger for dinner then stop here for a bite to eat, the food we had was delicious. We went with the ocean trout and the beef burger. The menu is small but has a great range of options, something for everyone. All their ingredients are locally sourced, from the beef to the fish to the cheese etc. The Beef burger was served with roasted potatoes and a side of coleslaw. The bun was toasted, making it nice and crispy. Perfectly cooked beef together with bacon and baby letter leaves were a great combination. The trout was tender, melt in your mouth, also served with roast potatoes and a bernaise sauce. We got talked into desert. Chocolate brownie with fresh strawberries and ice cream, was yum but could have been better had the brownie been heated up. We sat outside and enjoyed the view into the Geirangerfjord - the sun was setting. They have wall heaters to keep you toastie after a day of hiking. read more

Oh man I wish I could go back. Please build one of the these in my home town. I'd go weekly. Great craft beer options and plenty of wine. Food was excellent as well. Posten, a cafe right along the water of the fjord in Geiranger, makes for a perfect spot to sit out and enjoy the warm weather along the fjord. The seats out front and in back right above the water are fantastic and go fast, so it's best to get in early to beat the crowds. They even have beer from the local brewery in several styles on tap which really adds to the atmosphere. Service is friendly, but it can move a little slow, so it's best to be prepared to enjoy it leisurely. read more

At first we want to try the traditional salmon for our main entree , but the restaurant of our hotel told us that they didn't have that, then we went to a restaurant near our hotel at random . This is an amazing restaurant with a view right on the fee yard I think to be honest it's probably got to be the last best lunch option in town. It doesn't really cater the tourists the same way that a lot of the other shops do and I think to be honest the mindful food preparation would turn anyone's head. read more

We are here at the recommendation of our lodgings. They were open late. Great location. Easy to find parking. Friendly service. They sold out of pizza so I got a burger. It was delicious. The burgers in Norway are pretty fancy. Said it came with cheddar but it looked a little like American. Hard to say. We almost ate here the next day but found another place to try. The only place in Geiranger with a Yelp review so we went for it. Me and Mrs had the three course dinner which this day meant Parma ham/asparagus salad, lamb entrecôte, strawberry ice cream. All excellent! Daughter had a burger, I had some of it as well. Also very nice. The very picky 4 y.o. son wasn't up for food really but had a ham toast. He seemed happy with it.
