The absolute best meal we had in Norway. This cozy restaurant had it all! It is small, warm and inviting for a chilly day. The special Sea Trout was out of this world! One of those life long memory meals...the fresh farm to table vegetables...oh my...it was an absolutely perfect meal. My husband had the fish soup which he also raved about!! As you can see by the empty plates this was a meal to remember. It was a busy spot but the wait was short and we were seated and served in no time! If you should ever find yourself in Geiranger I highly HIGHLY recommend you eat here!! Two thumbs up...WAY up!!

If you are in Geiranger for dinner then stop here for a bite to eat, the food we had was delicious. We went with the ocean trout and the beef burger. The menu is small but has a great range of options, something for everyone. All their ingredients are locally sourced, from the beef to the fish to the cheese etc. The Beef burger was served with roasted potatoes and a side of coleslaw. The bun was toasted, making it nice and crispy. Perfectly cooked beef together with bacon and baby letter leaves were a great combination. The trout was tender, melt in your mouth, also served with roast potatoes and a bernaise sauce. We got talked into desert. Chocolate brownie with fresh strawberries and ice cream, was yum but could have been better had the brownie been heated up. We sat outside and enjoyed the view into the Geirangerfjord - the sun was setting. They have wall heaters to keep you toastie after a day of hiking.

Oh man I wish I could go back. Please build one of the these in my home town. I'd go weekly. Great craft beer options and plenty of wine. Food was excellent as well. We order a pizza and we're full after sharing one but wanted to order a second it was so good. Also loved sitting outside enjoying the view of the fjord.

At first we want to try the traditional salmon for our main entree , but the restaurant of our hotel told us that they didn't have that, then we went to a restaurant near our hotel at random . We ordered the soup and lamb shank which taste so good than expected. It's really a good choice for dinner

All tables were full, so we waited about 15 minutes to sit down. Upon sitting, our server immediately brought water. The menus are already on the table with entrees described in both Norwegian and English. Two of us ordered the Lyst Bacalao Gryte and two of us ordered the Gratinert Torsk and we ordered the fish soup and shrimp and seafood salad. All four items were delightful. The Bacalao is a traditional and popular food item in Ålesund. The cod was perfectly cooked in a tomato broth with vegetables and potato purée. The Torsk was also cod but served gratin with vegetables and bacon. The soup was rich and creamy and the salad was lighter, with crisp lettuce covered in small shrimp and smoked salmon. We left with full bellies, completely delighted by the food. Having eaten many places, I think this restaurant is in my top 10-15 restaurants ever! A MUST try when in Ålesund!!!

I ordered the fish and chips based on the server's recommendation and it was food, nothing spectacular, but that is what I expected. My co-traveler had the Tex-mex (taco) salad and really liked her meal. I had been feeling excellent this entire trip until about 2 hours after this meal and then the vomiting started. It's now 8am and I am empty and feeling good again, but definitely won't be back. The funny thing was that the woman at the next table ordered it right after me and was told it was out, so where did they find mine? The atmosphere is casual and very nice, the servers were great. I don't like to write bad reviews, but when I get this sick so soon after I need to let them and others know.
