This is a review for Cyrus at Tristone Tile in Van Nuys. I went to every slab yard from Torrance to Ventura County. We didn't have a designer and had to start from scratch with stone type, design, and size. Every place we went to was either underwhelming in selection, service, or price. Our final stop was Tristone and Cyrus was there to greet us. This gentleman gave us an education on the different stones. Helped us with design. Helped us make better decisions than the ones we made and saved us a ton of money in the process. Finally, took us through his magnificent selection of natural stones in sizes we couldn't find anywhere else. There were so many stunning choices the only problem was choosing which one we loved more. When we got the pricing and compared it with others with inferior patterns and slabs, his prices were the best. It was such a relief to work with such an honest and capable coach with such a great selection on hand. He also has impeccable taste. I would refer anyone to Tristone Tile and especially Cyrus and the rest of the team that helped us Shirin and Fred. I couldn't have had a better experience. read more

If this is the type of emails you would like to get, then this is the company for you. When I asked for options to be emailed they were impatient and asking about what other people are charging. Who cares? Seriously. I got an email from Cyrus that said: "That's why I dont like sending 30 photos. We have too many options for the average consumer. That's what they hire a designer for." I was asking these for myself, not for my client. They had 1 particular slab I wanted which is why I need to buy from them. Otherwise I would 100% not work with this company. When I posted this. I got an email from them that said "If you dont remove those 2 reviews down I promise you won't be buying slabs or taking your clients to our showroom to see slabs in the future and would have to settle for sub par materials. We are an elite slab company and everyone who is everyone knows it." This is not okay. They also talk trash about other marble companies. not cool especially when they're charging more than other marble yards out there..... read more

In my opinion this is the best place to shop a wide variety of one of a kind and super unique stones for any nook of your home or business. My husband and spent months going all over Los Angeles to every stone yard we could find, but we could never find a place that could come close to what Tristone offers. Cyrus was our man there. He was such a good hang, and super patient with us. We went maybe 5 or 6 times to pull slabs (yes, we're indecisive) and every time he gave us his undivided if we needed it or just let drool over stones on our own. It really is the best place and we ended up getting great deals on slabs that had been slightly damaged or if there was only 1 left. My only grievance is that we don't have another project that requires stone so we can visit Cyrus and that insane stone yard again. read more

Choosing surface materials for our kitchen and bath remodel was time consuming and a bit traumatic. We visited Bedrosian, Stoneland, Stoneville, Modul Marble, plus a couple of others. We were looking for options in the mid-range -- not the granite you find at Home Depot and not the highest-price exotics either. What we found at Tristone and tile was a wide range -- we admired some of the most beautiful stone we'd ever seen and could not afford -- plus we found many options in our price range. Most importantly, we found the service to be great. We were helped by a number of different people all of whom were very knowledgeable, polite, and responsive. We worked mostly with Cyrus who I recommend highly if you need good taste and advice. When we went to our fabricator to decide on the lay out she noticed some marks on the stone which were really hard to see (but were definitely there). We thought "uh oh"... this will be an argument. When we called Tristone about the problem they immediately made arrangements to get us another slab. It was great customer service. So, save yourself some trauma, and check out Tristone and tile. It's a busy place all the time, so be sure to make an appointment and leave yourself a lot of time to work through the process. read more

We drove quite aways from OC to the valley because we were no satisfied with the selection around us. We wanted natural quartz and it seems that the valley had more than "tile row" near us. We spoke to the really the bad rep that some yelpers mentioned, Cyrus! I can tell you that others must be very bitter about something other than him because he was more than a gentleman. He explained the differences between marble, dolomite, and quartzite. We we're looking for very clean super white. Most places lied to us and said the Super White Calacatta is a quartzite but he said no it's a dolomite. Anyway long story short we were so happy with the way he told us how we could live with our options we decided to leave a deposit with him! Thanks Cyrus! Cyrus helped me select tile for my whole house. He was thoughtful and attentive and carefully considered the samples of other materials I had already chosen for the house. I'd never met him before, but I felt like I was working with an old friend from high school. He gave me honest opinions and genuinely cared about my selections. There was one bathroom in our renovation that had tile we wanted to match and add to. My contractor had been to a couple of places looking for it, and told me that this particular tile was no longer available. Cyrus took a look at the sample I brought in and was able to find the exact match within minutes. It's perfect. I don't know what other reviewers are talking about, regarding Tristone unwillingness to fix things that go awry. The tile I'd selected for my kitchen arrived with the right color name, but was a completely different shade than the sample they had. Cyrus looked far and wide for an older batch that might be the right color, and allowed me to exchange the tile for something I liked even better when the search was unsuccessful. Amir was helpful too, if I happened to go in on a rare day when Cyrus was out. My orders got complicated and specific, as tends to happen when you're doing an entire house, and they both took it all in stride. I can't recommend Tristone highly enough! Go. read more

I am sorry to have to write this review. I have never been treated with more disrespect in any transaction with a business representative, ever. We visited TriStone, where we were met with Cyrus, who introduced himself as a representative. After a puzzling and somewhat rude tour of the available inventory, we came upon a slab that we were interested in. My wife and I took pictures and inquired about the price, at which time we were told the price would be 28$ per square foot. As a matter of fact, Cyrus mentioned that he is willing to work with us on the price. We said our thank you's and decided to speak with our fabricator prior to making the purchase. After discussions, we became very much set on buying and using this stone in our house project. Exactly 8 days later, we returned to TriStone, where we had the misfortune of speaking with this so called rep regarding the slab of interest. It was now brought to our attention that the stone would cost 40$ per square foot! Upon asking why the increase in price, we were met with several rude remarks including: "you were here several months ago, you have no idea what's going on" "we've had a 30% increase in our prices imported from China since yesterday" !! "Actually I told you 24$, but I would never sell you this slab, no money in it for us" "Oh, I'm not sure if it was 30 or 40%" (was brought to his attention that 30% increase on 24$ would not be 40) "Go look elsewhere, we're not interested" "Don't tell me how to do my job" "Why is it so hard for you people to understand" And several more comments that are not even worth repeating. Mr. Cyrus, it is truly a shame that you share your name with one of the greatest emperor in Iranian history. Your behavior and mannerisms are unforgettable and I hope no one that reads this has the displeasure of having to work with you. read more

I stumbled across this tile store when shopping for stacked stone veneer for an outdoor kitchen. They are tucked away behind some other buildings but worth the effort to seek out. They have a wonderful showroom with great selections. It's visually a clean and organized showroom with lots of beautiful products. The customer service is excellent. I'm an interior designer in LA and have been to so many slab yards. I love TriStone's quality and professionalism so much that I'll sometimes send clients on their own. You have to be careful about slab yards, so many carry poor quality stones but never with TriStone. This last time I shopped at TriStone, Cyrus went beyond my expectations. He would UPS samples to me and my out of town clients. He made it very easy to shop for long distance clients. When my clients came down for a one day visit, Cyrus accommodated us and was extremely patient with my clients and answered all their questions. We wanted to remodel our kitchen and since we were new to such a project, we wanted to go to a company that had a wide variety of slabs for countertops. Several people recommended TriStone and we were so impressed with the inventory as well as the variety to choose from. I was recently sold a stone as quartzite and told that it was a very hard and resistent material. I should have known there was going to be problems when my fabricator went to pick it up. After my fabricator cut it he said that it was marble because it was very soft. At that point it was too late to return it since it had been cut. I am not going to contact the store since I have read reviews on my salesman and from my previous interactions with him and other reviews I have read on line about this store, they will just deny there being an issue. The problem is I was told that it was a hard and resistant stone and that is not the case. I have had this stone in my kitchen for about a month and have been very careful with it knowing that it was probably marble. It already has a scratch on it and two chips from the edge. There has been no cutting on it and nothing has been dropped on it. I am extremely unhappy that I was lied to. I don't care what explanation they have regarding it being a "soft" quartzite, the fact is I was told it was hard and stain resistant. What I got is not hard at all and will probably need to be replaced. read more

At TriStone they made you feel important and like they valued your business. Prices were fair and straight forward. I have used stone from Tristone on many design projects and have to say they are absolutely one of my favorite stone suppliers (for the stone and service!) Riley has been my sales rep over the years and always makes sure to explain the stone characteristics and color range so that I can manage my clients' (homeowner) expectations. Natural materials can be scary to specify on a project, but Riley has always given me a good idea of how the stone will look and also which stone is ok to use where. I really LOVE the beautiful range of stone that Tristone stocks, seriously gorgeous marbles and onyx! I needed to purchase several slabs and chose one from Tri stone. I paid for it and it was collected by the fabricator. When I went to the fabricator I noticed that there was a vein / crack in the middle of the slab. I called Cyrus and told him about it and basically he said tough. Not my problem, the fabricator has damaged it. The crack does not go from edge to edge so this is obviously a flaw in the stone. If it was a crack it would have been from one side of the slab. Cyrus is an extremely rude unprofessional person who started yelling and cussing! When I think back to my purchase he tried to sell me another slab without me seeing the actual slab. He told me that the front one was sold and I would get another one from the pile. I refused to pay until I saw the actual slab. When I did see it it was nothing like the front one! Do I guess he gave me a different one when it was collected. I wish I had followed my gut.... right out of the door! I have spent nearly $3000 on one slab and I am not able to use it as it has a crack through it. Please please don't purchase from these crooks. There are several other places that I have now purchased other slabs from and one is "stoneland" and they are amazing and very reputable. Go straight to them! read more

They are dishonorable, they do NOT value relationships and are downright rude if you find the product elsewhere at a MUCH lower price. I'm remodeling a home in Rancho Mirage, California. My interior designer took me to this place to pick out slabs for counter tops and fireplace. I believe our purchase all inclusive was over $200k. While on a vacation we were called back to the job because of issues. The fabricator here in Palm Desert in business for over 35 years stopped the progress because TriStone's black marble was second quality and breaking apart. Now in the beginning they first refused to take it back but now softened their stance and they will take it back only if I replace it using something else from their yard. We found what we need from another yard and they don't have exactly what we are looking for and they continue to hold our feet over the coals. I hope anyone reading this will take notice that this company does not stand behind quality first. Save yourself aggravation and find another place to purchase your marble/granite slabs. read more

To sum it up, the problem at Tristone is lack of professionalism, namely Cyrus - dishonest, rude, unprofessional, generally repulsive behavior. One of the first things he said when he greeted us is that he will tell us things that others won't - well that was true. Lies and insulting behavior is not what you get at the other stone yards. Let me start with one very disturbing example - he tried to sell us a marble as a dolomite/soft quartzite for our kitchen! This could have well been a disaster if we hadn't done our research. In another startling tale, he informed us prices went up 30% since one week prior but clearly does not know math since he tried to double the price. Finally, he told us it wasn't worth it for him to sell us one slab - we had chosen to go with another stone yard for most of our slabs in the project for a reason!! At the other sites, sales reps were courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. This was blatant disrespect. We saw their inventory - they had nothing special and definitely no reason to act superior. A lot of the other stone yards had better options for a much better price so there's absolutely no reason to patronize this business. If the business owner is reading this, I hope you take to heart all the negative experiences customers are sharing about your very ill chosen rep. I almost never leave a review but I really felt compelled to share this because he really wasted my time and I left feeling disgusted. read more

They offer a huge selections which can be overwhelming, however Cyrus one of their salesman patiently walked us through their warehouse and helped us choose the right products. What a load of B/S Riley's response was. The material he sold me was most definitely marble - there's no question about it. I found it all over the web and everyone classified it as marble. It was very distinctive, blue and white stone. So he can "educate" me all he likes about quartzite, but that was not the type of stone that I was sold and it was not misclassified on their computer! read more

While it is true,Tristone has a wide selection of imported stone, I was extremely disappointed with the overall experience. 2 quartzite slabs were purchased in January, but sadly I was overcharged. They admitted in multiple emails, that I was overcharged, and still have not seen a refund check. I would never purchase anything from them again and would definitely NOT recommend them. read more

If you seek an unprofessional supplier of what will be sold to you as quality stone flooring, look no further than Tristone & Tile on Gloria Avenue. Riley, one of their sales staff certainly is knowledgeable, however, this knowledge is useless when a problem arises and company representatives will lie to the client, decide not to communicate at all or at the rare moment they do respond, advise you that the owner of Tristone, Fred Malek, is in "a bad mood" and cannot be bothered even though thousands of Dollars are at stake. I was sold limestone tile that supposedly came from a "reliable quarry" supplying "uniform material" with "beveled edges" only to find out that none of these statements were accurate. When I was actively seeking a solution, Tristone did not provide a process to rectify the situation for months, forcing me to stop work on a large, residential project. When I finally did get Tristone to acknowledge the problem, they essentially made me purchase additional material at my expense, covering this aspect by calling it "freight" rather than "material" cost. The entire issue ended up costing me in excess of $15,000 and I have written communication to document this statement along with an affidavit just issued by the installer, who laid down the tile at our project, advising me that the tile I had purchased from Tristone is "raked" i.e. not perfectly square, which makes installation obviously that much more difficult and expensive. My next step will be to contact the Better Business Bureau as well as an attorney as outfits such as Tristone ought not to be in business. read more
