With travel restrictions lifted, it was good to go for us, and we were anxious to see Hope, and our friends at 'Kingpin'. For this stay, we checked out a couple of restaurants enjoyed during previous stays, but got either 'we are closed' or 'we are only doing take out' messages. So 'Yea', it was back to 'Kingpin' for two, early-evening dinners during our stay. We dined inside -- a little too warm and sunny out on the patio, and everyone there was inside out of the sun. We shared two Burgers on the first visit, and two Clubhouse Sandwiches during our second visit. Along with cool, large, beer drafts for daughter and I, and ice water for Mom, we did good each time. The burgers and sandwiches were large in size, and along with the sides for each, well-prepared, and so flavourful and tasty. The drinks cool, and totally hitting the spot. It's more than likely that the cow led them on a Ramboesque manhunt before being killed, based on the time it took. Sadly, the cow died in vain. The steak sandwich was not worth all that trouble they went through. The waitress did her best, but it could not save a doomed experience. Luckily, Rambo was on the TV, we weren't too hungry when we arrived, and I hate giving local businesses bad reviews, so the place gets a few stars. The manager came to the front to be very rude and accused me of "spending" the remaining. I tried to explain there is ONLY one A&W in town and I certainly wouldn't drive km's to spend 19.75. After several accusations from this manager I was a liar, and then swapped the card. Her employees tried several times only to fall on deaf ears and then she tells me her manager said not to do anything. So I am out the money. Several ex employees relay what a horrible job experience working there. Trust me it's not the money but her lack of professionalism. I have spent a fair deal of money there but after this experience I will NEVER return. People getting short orders, wrong orders, now money missing on cards. The next day when money was placed on a different gift card three of their machines still showed 0 amount.

I thought Combo #1 was $10.99 but then there was another higher price on the menu for the "actual" meal. It made no sense as the price was for their "combo" meal. So, when I ordered, the cashier indicated the price of the meal was around $14.99. Bad menu design. If I knew the combo was actually around $15, I wouldn't have stuck around to order. Anyway, I paid and waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. After 18 minutes of waiting for my order, I gave up and asked for a refund. Mind you the 18 minutes was on THEIR timer on THEIR screen. I obtained my refund and walked out. I went through a nearby drive through of a different restaurant and got my order within 5 minutes of ordering. Would I go back here? Hell no. It's overpriced and improperly staffed. I wasted 23 minutes of my day waiting for a meal that never materialized.
