Red Negroamaro - wow! Very different. Slight amaretto beginning. String tobacco and cocoa. Cherry blackberry. 8 4. Tempranillo - black cherry, raspberry, fig clove and leather. Like it! 8 5. Malbec - great smell! Plum, spice, cherry. Earthiness. 7.75

I took one of the bus tours of Texas wineries last month with friends and this was our second stop. After the personal attention at Tara Vineyard, this was a complete disappointment. The gentleman did walk out to greet us when we arrived and explained they were short staffed, but it only got worse from there. When we entered the only building I saw on site, it was clear that this was a 'bar and grill' type establishment. No vineyard in sight. Some vines, yes, but no feel of being at a vineyard, which is what we city people were expecting. There was no table service and they already had a large party or two. The man seemed to be there alone, except for a young person bringing food out. Some of us gave up on waiting to get service at the bar and went back out to the bus and munched on snacks we brought. someone bought a pizza and shared it - pretty tasty. I'm sure this is a great place for locals who need a place to gather, but in Dallas we have plenty of those places, we were hoping for a true vineyard day. I believe they only purchase wines from the local vineyards and resell - I could be wrong. I would skip this one if you're looking for a true vineyard experience.

Saturday, Sep 28th around 4pm. Semi busy and still warm. We sat outside. Plenty of seating in and out. Wifey and I shared a flight. The only one I liked was the Bully Red, a sweet blend. Their pizza was good. Wife had a frozen margarita. It was refreshing and very nice. Spent $47 for two of us. Highlight of this place is their long horn steer which come up close to the winery for petting and pics. Bring the kiddos - they'll love it. Several here with us.

By far, this was my favorite. There's a story to go with this wine. Have them tell it to ya when you visit.

If you are ever looking for a day trip to get away from the city, head this direction and thank me later. Granted we went on a very rainy, extremely gloomy day, however it didn't take away from the ambiance of the place of the or graciousness of the people. Lisa, one of the employees, made us feel at home. She gave us history of the place and how it came to be, about the town itself and how they have concerts on the weekends. The ranch is expanding and has planted their own grapes, they have started a garden on 3 acres and have a chef who will serve farm to table meals. Oh and I forgot to mention that this is a working ranch so there are plenty of Longhorns to see. We had the charcuterie board which was a nice pairing with the wine tasting. I explained to Lisa that I'm not a big wine drinker and I like sweet when I am drinking and therefore she made some suggestions to my choices and even offered one that wasn't on the list. So here's the kicker - the ranch itself is BEAUTIFUL and I could sit in a chair and relax all day however I was let in on a little secret - apparently there is a brewery in the next town over AND there is a lake nearby as well. So next visit is planned when the weather is nicer so we can rent a boat and enjoy the day away from the city and then come here and relax before heading home. Don't forget to thank me for taking one for the team!

This was my first winery in Texas and I thought it was great! I loved the atmosphere inside, and we did get to meet just a couple members of the cattle in the ranch but it was SUPER hot when we were there so don't blame them for hiding in cooler places. The wines were tasty, as were the snacks we ordered. A great spot for sure.

The longhorn's were out to visit - this is something to see!

We just bought a home close to the Winery. My husband and I decided to go one Saturday after getting into town. We are foodies and have been to Italy & Napa a lot. We felt so at home here. Good food (pizza's, appetizers and brunch), good service & good wine. Thank you for what you do. We joined as members, we will be back as often as we can.

We originally booked a cabin, but after running into an unexpected wasp issue, the staff immediately upgraded us to the estate--the stunning white building in the middle of the vineyard. It was absolutely breathtaking, and we ended up having the entire estate to ourselves. Truly once-in-a-lifetime. Also dog friendly!! Our sweet doggies had a blast. Every single staff member went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. They were warm, accommodating, and genuinely cared about our experience. The chef's food was phenomenal--hands down some of the best food we've ever had, not just "good for a winery," but genuinely incredible. A special shoutout to Kevin, the bartender, who took it upon himself to come back after the proposal to take photos for us. That small act of kindness meant the world and helped us capture memories we'll treasure forever. The estate itself is unbelievably beautiful, peaceful, and romantic. Between the vineyard views, the exceptional service, and the unforgettable proposal, this place will forever hold a special place in our hearts. If you're considering staying here, celebrating something special, or just want an extraordinary experience--do it. Tara Winery exceeded every expectation, and we couldn't be more grateful.

We considered splitting a plate as we normally do for breakfast out. However, thankfully we each ordered an entree. Each plate included three small triangles of toast and a spoon of fruit. We each had a mimosa. The meal for two was $147 with the included gratuity. We both left hungry and shocked at the price for what we received. Very disappointed

Everyone was friendly and explained how service works there (later we saw the sign on the wall with the same guidance). Anyway, you check in for your table, and then you order at the counter-wine and/or food. We ordered the garlic knots, a side cous cous salad (but I don't think that's what we got- didn't matter because it was still good), the chicken cheesesteak, pepperoni flatbread and seasoned fries, along with a tasting. We asked for the food to be spaced out a little so we didn't have everything all at once at our very small table. The food was really good. The salad and garlic knots were super filling so we only nibbled on the other items and ended up boxing them up. I will say the flavors of the chicken cheesesteak were delicious, and I was disappointed to find it will be removed from the menu. The tasting consists of 5 wine choices and costs $18 per person. It's a 1.25 ounce pour and gives a good sampling of the wine. I really enjoyed 3 out of the 5 and same for the man. He had more whites, while I had all reds (and of course we shared. We didn't buy any bottles but might next time. Anyway we say several dates, a couple groups of ladies having a night out, families and one birthday party. As I stated earlier, we will go back and I definitely recommend. We spent about $113 pre tip.

There are no actual vineyards at this location (well, there are a few rows out front for pictures) ,but the facility features a small restaurant, beautiful patio, and private dining/tasting. Highly recommend the spinach dip and veggie sandwich. And their flatbreads looked amazing. Definitely suggest for brunch with the girls or a cute date night.

A cute little family owned winery we stopped by on our way to see the Ennis bluebonnets. The "wine…read moretasting room" is very cute and there are also little goodies for sale, like candles and gummy wine infused dinos (!!!). There's also a good selection of cheesecakes which sounded interesting but we didn't try them. Staff was very friendly in giving recommendations and describing each wine. Tried a few recommended wines (each person can sample 2 for free) and they were just okay for me. Lots of fruity wines and some seasonal flavors like gingerbread which was interesting. I liked the lime with coconut the most, but didn't love any enough to buy a glass or bottle. We ended up getting the cheese board, which was $18 and came with crackers and a good selection of cheeses, meats, nuts and mustard dip. Adding some grapes would've been amazing!

First let me say that April is their peak time (because it's blue bonnet season and folks are out and about) so they charge a fee to park. We arrived near closing time yet they were kind enough to welcome us in and allow us to look around. We also decided to grab a glass of wine while we walked around looking. I will honestly say that I am NOT a wine snob, I couldn't tell ya a good glass from a bad glass but I don't like dry and I don't usually like reds. With that said I was given some suggestions and for what it's worth, I'd drink it again. We were offered to purchase some cheesecake but without seeing what I was getting and told $11, I passed on it. I will say that the souvenir "glass" that I paid for was disappointing, come to find out it's a plastic cup, however I was told it "floats in the pool" but I'll never know because I don't own a pool to sip and float in. So most the folks out in the yard were wine tasting and seemed to be enjoying what they had. I had one couple who actually went down the list letting me know what their favorites were and why (I took notes). This is a cute little spot off the beaten path. I must say that I'm thankful for a restroom but I'm never a fan of portable potty's and unfortunately this was the only option at the time. If I'm out this way again, I'll make a stop and try a wine flight to see if the other wines live up to the hype.
