This is a small a brewery with a comfortable feel. We sat ourselves in the patio, and shortly after the waitress appeared with the few menus. We opted for the wings and a couple of beers. Food was ready in a timely manner. My wings were great, but unfortunately, my friend had one that was undercooked, and had red in the center which made her lose her appetite. No, we didn't make a fuss or notify the server. It just wasn't a big deal. We had been out hiking all day, and were hot and thirsty and the beers were cold and delicious, so we just enjoyed our drinks. Went looking for this place after seeing a video on IG. Beautiful old building restoration with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was great, you feel welcome as soon as you set foot in the building. They offer a wide variety of their beer that is produced in-house. I even took home a crowler with me of their Pickle Beer. Yes, Pickle Beer! They also have wine and cocktails, so your friends that don't drink beer won't have an excuse to not come along. The story of my life . Now let's talk about their food: I HAVE TO tell you about their sexy fries. Something so simple, yet so delicious. Good Seasoning is everything! We're camping in Athens from out of state and decided to try the Brewery for a late lunch. Everything was great and the biggest bonus was being dog friendly. Both my husband and I loved the Brown Ale! We had the festivo salad with chicken and the OG burger plus a side of Brussels. Traveling through on a road trip to Kentucky, and wanted to stop at this restaurant/brewery. We ordered two flights of beer, which the guys seemed to enjoy. This place has a super fun vibe. We went in on a Thursday & that happens to be Trivia Night. Family friendly & it felt like everyone knew each other. The pickle beer wasn't for me, but they have plenty of other brews & wines to fit your taste. I'm overjoyed I have this place to come to when I visit East Texas. While visiting family for Thanksgiving, the Hubby and I stopped in and were blown back by the amount of relief we felt upon arrival. It's tucked away in the heart of Athens and actually brews their beer on spot at their location! Everyone was sooo warm and welcoming from the patrons to the bartender to the cook! The bartender gentlemen let us try all of the different brews until we found one that pleased our pallets. The cook came to see that we enjoyed our food and we DID! That was one hell of a cheeseburger and I've already expressed my live for Cesar salads in previous reviews. Well this one rocked the house as well! What a great find! For anybody visiting Cedar Creek Lake, take the time to drive into Athens to this little gem. We started with their fried gouda and cheddar cheese sticks and "sexy" sweet potato fries. The cheese sticks were ridiculously good, and the butter-tossed sweet potato fries were hands down the best I've ever eaten. My wife and son split a plate of beef sliders while I had the brat and giant pretzel. The sliders and fries were great, but the brat and pretzel stole the show. I'm from New Braunfels and have a high benchmark for judging brats, and this one is legit! The sausage was fantastic, and the pretzel was everything an awesome pretzel should be - toasted and crunchy on the outside while being soft and steamy inside. Serve it all up with some spicy mustard - what else could you want? Oh, I know - maybe some homemade brews. We sampled their apricot beer, Marzen and Reliance IPA. All were very good. This place had a great combination of food, beer and service. I look forward to our next trip to the lake just so we can come back here! read more

My husband and I make it a habit to visit breweries wherever we go, so we had to stop at this one when we were in town. Came in on a Friday night and the place was really busy. There was live music outside and no seats available! The inside continually got busier as the night went on. The staff seemed very overwhelmed and service was slow. That being said, once you finally got to talk to someone, they were very friendly and happy to answer questions. We tried 4 beers, with the Apricot being my favorite. I also got to try their seasonal pumpkin, which I recommend getting it while you can! I was a little surprised there weren't many games to play. That is usually a brewery staple, and what I hoped to do while hanging out. I saw Sorry and giant Jenga, but that was it. The food menu is nothing to brag about, but also nothing to complain about. This place has a long way to go to be taken seriously. The exterior facade left us wondering if the place was still in business. The bar tender was not very helpful or particularly knowledgeable. The place was cluttered with boxes that merchandise had been shipped in, half emptied. I tried the IPA and thought it is palatable but nothing that knocked my socks off. I ordered a burger shooters, no utensils came with it, nor did they even have any to give when I asked for something to cut them with. Bartender had trouble finding napkins. Two hours after eating I found myself stuck in a bathroom with a massive case of the s@&ts. This place is not ready for prime time, and I don't get the feeling it ever will be under the current management. read more

My wife and I were visiting Athens and wanted a local place for dinner. So glad we stopped here. The beer - order some samples and figure out what you like. I ended up with the Red Dawg. I'm not a beer expert by any means but it was good. For dinner - you must try the bacon bomb. Imagine a sauce with chopped up bacon mixed with some kind of sweetness sitting on top of brie with a side of crackers. Also had some sweet potato fries that were pretty darn good as well.
