I'm here for the soft opening. Let's see how this plays out. Since this is their first day, I expect the normal bumps in the road. We walk into a great view of a small but pleasant lake out side of a large dining area. They have a spacious bar that seats 12 and and coincidentally 12 wonderful beers on tap. Unfortunately the liquor selection is really thin but it looks poised to fill. I ordered a Elysian Space Dust IPA. It came fairly quickly considering the soft opening jitters. Thankfully the cold glass and great beer made the long wait for food relaxing. The owner introduced herself and did her best to acknowledge the 1st day bumps but brush off the stress. The cowboy burger finally arrived! 1/2 lb patty stuffed with brisket on a on a fresh hearty homemade bun, offered up with the traditional offerings. The 1/2 lb patty was really small and didn't come close to filling the bun, but it was thick and stuffed full of deliciousness. The plus side.... it was damn good. I wish it had been much bigger for $16.95 but damn good....... damn good!!! For desert was a homemade apple crumble with Vanilla ice cream. All I can say is .... Damn! On point doesn't come close to explaining how good it is. I really look forward to eating here again. These guys can cook! Here for my second time enjoying the sun on the beautiful deck. Ducks and Lilly pads fill the landscape. I ordered the spicy jack burger. 1 word... Holy Sh$t... unbelievably delicious, and the Peanut butter pie.... I'm in love. My new favorite place! read more

The Triple J Roadhouse has a nice atmosphere, cold beer on tap and wow -- the surprise was the excellent food! The mushroom cheeseburger was maybe the best burger in a long, long while. The food was average, but they were out of the brisket and therefore I couldn't order the brisket nachos. They also hadn't updated the beer list, which the woman blamed on her daughter in law instead of taking any ownership of. I had the Alaskan Burger which I wanted to try reindeer, but asked for it medium and it was cooked very well done. I would have said something but our server was a bit too preoccupied with gossiping and venting to coworkers. She clearly does not understand how to separate work place issues from their customers as we overheard quite a bit. Our server at the bar was expressing how mad she was about an employee named Alyssa not showing up for work and how they had seen she was online and had apparently gone out last night and was complaining with another employee pretty loudly to the point that we could hear everything. We were the only ones in the entire restaurant and she was saying all of this about five feet from us. We received our check and then she ended up sitting with a guy doing what appeared to be an interview where she complimented him being from the south and how they're all about that level of hospitality. Considering I'm visiting from Charleston, SC which is a Mecca for southern hospitality it took everything in me not to say something. She continued to tell him that she fired someone (I'm assuming Alyssa) today and that she doesn't want him quitting suddenly on her and going back to Mississippi. We ended up having to ask another worker who had just showed up to cash us out as we had been waiting for ten minutes. She then parted ways with the young man and started venting about Alyssa to the newcomer at work saying she no called no showed and was fed up. As I sit here writing this she is at the end of the bar telling the brunette younger girl all about it. I get it, it sucks when this happens with an employee as I work in hospitality, but filter yourselves with your customers nearby. At least go talk about it in BOH, not FOH. Pretty absurd. So beware of this if you go here as it all seemed pretty immature with how she was behaving. read more

Everything we ordered was delicious! Burgers were huge and satisfying, the starters like the fried zucchini and brisket nachos were satisfying alone. The southern fried chicken sandwich is a must but so is the 1/4 pound burgers! The service was very friendly and fast! They even had blueberry beer on tap! We will never be visiting this place again. We were not greeted when we entered, we were there for 30 minutes and weren't served anything except menus. People who came in after us were served appetizers and drinks and we were ignored even though we sat waiting. They weren't busy at all so there's no excuse for not even greeting us. I'm very disappointed and sad about this because it's Valentine's Day and my young son is very hungry. We left after 30 minutes of sitting there watching others be served and the wait staff clean tables and chat with each other. read more

We have visited several times. Always on point and great food. I had the chicken sandwich and my husband had halibut and fries. Everything was excellent. I'm from the deep South, and I've been in Alaska for over a year now. I can honestly say this is some of the best comfort food I have had so far in the state. Their food is completely homemade and fresh. We had the southern burger, brisket nachos with fries instead of nachos, and an apple pie made with pecans and oatmeal sizzling on a cast iron plate with vanilla ice cream. You have to be kidding! Our server, Emily N., did fine, but the food was poorly prepared, over cooked, tasteless and just TRY to get crispy French fries! HUH! My advice is not to just walk away from this place, RUN! Never again. Plus, the prices were way too high for what we got.The owner/manager came to our table to apologize. The only two good things about this place were the brisket nachos and the live music, actually the entire interior setting was nice. The main meals were all pretty bad, WAY over salted, and both under and over cooked. The service was poor. They brought the wrong meals for the kids, then didn't bring the proper utensils. Starting with the server. She was polite but we had to ask for napkins, silverware, and water. She didn't know what the items of the days were and informed us that the "Cupcake of the Day" on the menu has never been available. Most of the desserts were not available. What was available wasn't even listed on the menu (bread pudding). We ordered the ribeye and a bacon burger. All the steaks have blue cheese so if you're not a fan you have to ask for it to not be added. Also the steaks come with potatoes, but it doesn't say that on the menu anywhere or what kind of potatoes. The selection of burgers looks great. After ordering I have to say the food was delicious and fairly priced. They tasted great! We didn't have to ask for refills for water either. Ordered a margarita. It was a bit small, but the price was reflective of that so it's ok. It tasted good too. Overall I would go here again but not be in the mood for anything specific.. especially dessert. read more

Took my visiting family to the Triple J. I cannot say anything positive about our experience. When we walked in, the staff seemed to just glare. When the food arrived, it was mediocre at best, bad at worst. I ordered my burger medium rare. What I got was almost charcoal. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she actually argued. She said "lt doesn't look so done to me". Sad, as we live very closeby, but never will return, nor will we recommend the place. Over the years we have tried the old Houston Lodge as it passed from one hand to another. We believe in supporting local, but not if the food and/or service is poor. Imagine my surprise when I stopped in, the burgers and phenomenal and so is the service. Just the burger is a meal, then they add fries. My inner fat man was overcome with joy when I managed to cram down the warm apple pie ala mode. It was only because of being in public that I didn't pick up the plate and pick up the rest of the ice cream. Can you give half a star rating? Just the worst. "Prime rib" specials were tough cooked on both sides fatty slabs of meat. Baked potato was fried potatoes. This was my normal stop on my way home to Nancy lake, but after what I witnessed yesterday I'll never go back. Now as a foodie and formal owner of a catering business I know what customer service is and it makes or breaks a business. I also would never go after local businesses but again this was so absurd and ridiculous to witness I need to tell people. I was at the bar and there was only one other table (2 top) in the whole restaurant. The only server/bartender was talking to me and I was explaining the shitty week I'd had. One of the owners came over and started telling her that he doesn't pay here to stand around and there was things to be done. She kindly said "isn't my job to make customers happy" he then continued to yell at her in the middle of the bar. Good for her for taking off her apron and quitting as he continued to say "oh, you're going to walk out in the middle of a shift". I quickly left and told the owners wife and kids (they all work there) that it was inappropriate and embarrassing to watch that. I simply said I've been in the customer service industry for 20 yrs and that if you're going to berate an employee at least do it behind closed doors. Her reply was, " I've been in it for 30". This is a new restaurant only open a short time. I ordered off the abbreviated menu. The full menu will be available in mid- August. The hamburger I ordered was good. The bread was freshly baked. The hamburger meat was tasty, but could have come out to the edge of the bread. The fries need some work. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The location is nice with all the back windows overlooking a beautiful pond. It is my understanding that they have had a few problems in opening, as do most restaurants. I will be back in August to try the full menu. read more

The service was poor, our food was obviously left in warmer all day - the potatoes were so hard, I literally couldn't chew them. Imagine eating cardboard for $25!!! We ordered 2 adult dinners, and 3 kids meals... they were slow, and there was only 2 other tables seated!! We hoped it was just a shitty luck for our first time, so we went back 2 weeks later. Just as awful. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They obviously spent too much on advertising and not enough on their actual food quality. The only words I can use to describe the food are: poor, soggy, stale, old, undercooked, & bitter. A 4oz steak for $25 is too much, their shrimp po' boy was not deveined (we couldn't even finish it because of this), the chicken sandwich was pounded so thin you couldn't even see the chicken when you took a bite, and the batter was still raw in the middle, the kids spaghetti was bitter and undercooked, the dinner potatoes are inedible, the vegetables are soggy, and the cupcake costs $6!!!! The classic hamburger tells the tale for me at every restaurant I try for the first time. It was decent enough for me to try something else at a later date. However, it showed no pink at all making it pretty dry except for the grease. gets 3 stars from me as "good." nothing to be ashamed of. The price of the meal was fair considering this place is right up the road. The fries were good, I love fresh cut fries. A bit on the soft side but I'll take that over burnt any day. The seasoning was excellent, but overpowered the burger. In fact I think the seasoning for the fries would be great to mix into the burger patty. My only issue is the cost of the drink. I asked for a captain and coke, tall glass. I know that doesn't mean more rum. It means more coke. 7.00 for a captain and coke is a bit steep as it is but not totally out there. the 2.00 "premuim" charge on top of that made it a 9.00 captain and coke, putting it right up there with the airport cost. Take from this what you will, Id really like to see a local place near home succeed after the drive through burger stand and sullys closed down. but I do drink. If im going to pay an 800% mark up on a 5th, about a 12.5% pour cost, I can cab/uber all the way to mug shot for less than a night out there would cost. I did sit at the bar, was finished with my drink before the burger got there, never got offered another even though I was the only one at the bar. Bar tender was away from the bar doing other things while the waitress was looking for a place to plug in her phone. I'm not completely dissatisfied despite the review, the food was good enough to give it another chance. Hopefully the change in hours and a regular schedule of "things to do" like darts and karaoke that the Houston loge was lacking will draw in some people and a little improvement of the for-mentioned things will have me coming back. Market a little more, you have a liquor license-take advantage of that, put on some music, I didnt notice a juke box. Football season is coming, I hope you'll do some pools and put the games on.
