a menu for a restaurant

When I visited, I order the curry chicken and rice and it was pretty good. No complaints. Will visit again.

Curry chicken, rice, cabbage and plantains

I'm extremely disappointed with my order. The curry chicken was incredibly dry, to the point where I could see the curry seasoning. The rice tasted burnt, and the cabbage was undercooked. This experience was truly disappointing. However, when I went to pick ip my food the lady with the beautiful eyes was super nice and welcoming.

Bussupshut. This is a large portion of roti, all buss up!

I've visited Trini Quizeen twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. My lunch was excellent, dinner less so, but still good enough to make this a solid four star restaurant. Trini Quizeen opened just about a year ago. It's location and general size are simple indicators that this is a family run business. The fact that it managed to survive 2020 and remain open shows that it is well loved by a community of customers. My lunch visit featured goat curry, cabbage, rice and peas, plantains, and "bussupshut" which is roti in its most amusing form. The curry was filled with flavor. Goat was tender. Sides were sweet and plentiful and the bruised and battered roti was the perfect accompaniment. In fact, I vowed to skip the rice and peas the next time and stick with the busdupshut. Oops! Dinner a few days later and I forgot to ask for roti instead of rice, so I ordered another side of busted flat bread. It was worthwhile, though. I ended up splitting g my food into multiple meals, so the extra carbs helped round things out. My choice that day was shrimp curry. It was ok, but the shrimp had been cooked too long and the spice levels weren't as extreme. I'll get the goat again next time.

The food was excellent! My husband is Trini, he loved the curry goat. We will definitely be back even though we live two hours away.

Oxtails taste sweet and needed salt and the right base for the sauce..was lacking the appropriate flavor profile. The rice tasted like basmati which is cool for Indian cuisines but usually with dishes like Oxtails or Jerk Chicken I'd expect red beans and white grain rice cooked in coconut milk for the flavor profile. Mussels are delicious, they just don't give you a lot of them if you go during any of their prefixed menu offerings. Coconut shrimp are good. Carrot cake was one of the best I've tasted in a long time. Even if your not a fan of carrot cake I think you'll enjoy. There weren't big chunks of fruit or nuts inside. It was layered, fluffy, moist, cream cheese icing spot on, just really spot on. I could have ordered a cake to go and left the food. Drinks are pricey for what you get in return. Some of the drinks are watered down, like their "Sex on the Boat." They give it to you in this cute boat shaped dish with a straw with flashing lights (photo/vid attached) but there's a ton of ice and not much alcohol or flavor. You also have to wait for your entire party before ordering appetizers. Very strange to me. Most places will allow you to order drinks and appetizers while you wait for the rest of your party. Also be mindful that there's an 18% charge for credit card. If that bothers you be prepared to bring cash. They typically will only allow you to split the check two ways so for larger parties it's best to bring cash to avoid confusion when everyone is paying for themselves.

The food was fantastic - I confess I had never tried Trinidadian cuisine before but was blown away by its distinct subtle flavors brought to perfection by chef Sean Yogi's imagination and skill. So we started with a saltfish croquette appetizer that if I weren't aspiring for dinner, I would have kept ordering until they closed the place. For dinner, I had curry salmon with sumptuous fried plantains and a delicious pasta cheese pie side. The salmon was amazing, I have never had salmon taste so wonderful. My wife had the same experience with her curry chicken. The true kicker though was this amazing pastry-like side named dhalpuri which is used to scoop up and eat your entre - amazing, buttery, soft.
